Fantastic wings and house made sauces! We absolutely loved the tater kegs!!! Very clean and a great atmosphere.

    a hamburger and fries

They are so fast and kind. The food is so good, especially the burgers. Nothing fancy but the burgers have such great flavor. Thank you!

Wheaty's is a bar and serves bar food with your typical and not-so-typical bar drinks. My husband and I don't drink, so I can't tell you about the beverages --sorry! However, I can tell you about The Food, Respect Toward COVID, and their Work Ethic. The Food -- we ordered Deep Fried Pickles, which are hands-down the best fried pickles we've ever had (and we like fried pickles). They were spicy, but not too spicy. It tasted like the pickle itself was spicy and the panko had its own, unique seasoning. I wish they served those as a side dish to the sandwich instead of the fries! I ordered the "Wheaty's Wings" which claim to come with '7 Mammoth wings with every order' and they were some huge wings-- this is a real meal! I ordered plain wings and they were crispy and juicy and hot. Excellent! My husband ordered the Cordon Bleu Sandwich which has a juicy, seasoned chicken beast with Swiss and ham -- think chicken cordon bleu meets hoggie! He woofed that down! We ordered fries with the sandwich for a couple dollars more and they were okay... definitely not the same level of culinary skill as the rest of the food we ordered, we had to add lots of salt (Which is good that they don't load them with salt for people who can't tolerate that) and they still weren't so great. Respect Toward COVID -- Masks are required in order to enter this bar and she's serious! When you walk in, she sanitizes a table for you right there. She is constantly washing her hands and wearing a mask. As I watched her, I saw her touch her face about 3 times and each time she cleaned her hands in some fashion. She sanitizes bar stools, the bar -- she's on top of this. The chef is washing her hands and wearing a mask. There are only 2 women running the whole place and while they're doing all of their work, they're also constantly sanitizing. When people come in off the street and there's no where for them to sit, she gives them the option to sit on patio where they won't get food or drink service, but they can wait and she'll come and get them when a table is free or they can purchase a drink and sit and drink it outside. The tables are spaced more than 6 feet apart and the whole bar can maybe seat 30 max. Work Ethic -- there are 2 women running this VERY busy bar. The Front House Manager and the Chef. They're taking to-go orders and bussing tables and refilling drinks and sanitizing and washing their hands and reminding people to wear masks and every few minutes someone comes in off the street and wants to know when they can get a table. And they're doing it flawlessly! We were there around 9:30pm on a Saturday, so I imagine it was a long day of doing that constantly, but both women were exceptionally polite and answered questions and payed close attention to guests and we never had to wait longer than a few minutes for anything. Support Yooper-ran businesses, support small business, and get the fried pickles!

Great place to grab a pint and watch a game. Packers were playing the Lions and everyone was very civil, despite being a mixed crowd. Good food. And nice service. Feels like home.

    I had a good time

The bartender was sarcastic but once I got past that she was very nice. An older gentleman made some rather off-color remarks but both she and the couple next to me let me know right away that they don't go for that sort of stuff which made me feel much better. Chicken strips are not particularly great but the french fries were good. The bar tender suggested the wings & I should have listened. Over-all a good time. I'll be back.

I grabbed some delicious snacks to keep me going and had the chance to try a few local beers. Each sip was a delightful taste of the area! Curds were enough for a table of four. Overall taste of the food, however, is average. Despite being a good looking B&B Burger, the bacon was burnt and the burger itself didn't have much seasoning. I expected to bite in tasting a medley of flavors, but each bite was just okay. Maybe if I had a yeasty beverage or two before eating, it might help raise my opinion? TABLE SERVICE: Waitresses were prompt and helpful. BARTENDERS: Remember those honey badger YouTube videos (narrated by Randall) from 2011/12? That's what I think of when I read Yelper reviews from Brittany H. and Jay V. [in the voice of Randall]: *Mitchell Street bartenders don't care; they do what they want!* For example, when the popular 80s song, Your Love by the Outfield, came on, the 'tender on duty decided to turn it up to 11...and left it there for half the song. Locals seemed unfazed, but visitors got to the point they asked the waitress if they could turn it down. I'm guessing he didn't much care for the feedback, because he then played the song twice more. *If you're up for a rowdy atmosphere with an array of local beverages + solid bar food, I encourage you to step into this windowless venue! If you're looking for a nice, sit down meal and great tasting main dishes (OR you're allergic to peanuts)...best walk to Tap 30 next door.

We prefer bar service over dining service, seem to be generally more attentive and the two staff work as a team. Brandon is waiting on us. He's friendly and good at customer service. Ordered the whitefish dip, baba Ghanouj, superior whitefish tater tots, tabouli salad, superior whitefish chowder, superior whitefish tacos with black pepper fries and a spicy crispy chicken sandwich and cabbage slaw. $111 They do charge a 4% transparency fund: employee retention, living wages, staff happiness. Written on the bottom of your bill. The dishes are scratch made, in house. Nice! The tabouli is too, has some mixed greens in it. There is something sweet in the dressing or the buckwheat, not my thing at all. Rest of the salad is good though. The baba ghanouj on its own is quite garlicky, slight Smokey flavor to it. It doesn't work with the pita crackers. Not loving this at all. The whitish dip is good. My hubby liked the sweet pickled for watermelon rind garnish, I didn't like them much. The spicy chicken sandwich on the brioche bun is really good. The chicken is super crispy. It's quite good. The whitish tacos are good. The whitefish seems to be blackened, really nicely. The fish is light and perfectly cooked. The whitefish chowder is so good! The tater tots are so delicious. No slouch here. Crunchy and so yummy! Food was so unique and quiet food. The side pepper fries are and slaw ate both a bit blah, compared to the majority of our flavorful meals Service is top notch.

As we were waiting in line a bartender walked past and mentioned a free table with seat yourself FCFS in the tap room. We snagged the table and were greeted immediately. We ordered a carrot cake cupcake to share for dessert. This was our least favorite part of the experience, but my partner's only complaint was the surprise golden raisins. He's not a huge fan of "pieces" in his cake. I loved the frosting, although it wasn't traditional cream cheese frosting. It was decadent and rich. 8/10.
