    Careful assembly of each order
    Bruce M.

Highest rated components of small town burger joint: fresh flavorful meat, hand-seasoned handmade patties, cooked perfectly medium every time by chef who never takes eyes off grill, assembly by hand using perfectly placed condiments carefully spread by hand, all served quickly by attentive counter help. Add hand-cut fries, fresh actual milkshakes, unlimited napkins to clean up a river of juicy goodness = this is 5-star folks. Plus their menu is extensive, and from what we saw every local order, all must be exceptional.

Delicious burgers and a "drive in" experience from the past. Unbelievably large menu for a drive in. Not just burgers. And they really get to out fast. There are a few seats inside, but they have car hop and outdoor table service. Didn't love the shakes, pretty average. But burgers and French Fries with Gravy was really good.

Awesome burgers and shakes! Stopped here while on a trip and wish we lived closed so I could come back more often. Friendly service, don't hesitate to stop here.

The food was very good the fish basket well cooked and juicy/well breaded. The BLT was crispy and tasted very fresh. Staff were kind. Our order came out fast. Had a classic dive-in vibes.

It definitely has that 50s diner drive in feel and I love going to places like this, there are 3 locations that I know of: St Ignace, Manistique & Sault St Marie, there might be more but I'm not too sure, I haven't eaten at the SSM and now the Manistique location. The food here is really good, I always get "The Big C" and forget how bad it ruins me the whole day, not because it's bad but because it's really fulfilling, a VERY delicious burger but you will be rooting more than a train in about an hour after eating it. I also had their Poutine Fries and those were very delicious, the gravy was very good. This location wasn't very packed and seemed to have locals here a lot which is a good thing and they had an outside patio are which was nice to be able to sit outside and eat while the weather was perfect. I definitely have to try the St Ignace location now so that way I can say I have been to all of the ones I know about.

We ordered a pasty and perch basket with sweet potato fries. We sat at one of the tables out front on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Our food came out quickly and we enjoyed it all. I don't usually enjoy cole slaw, but this one was great. Definitely a place to stop in the area!

Great food, quick service, great kids options. Full gluten free menu too! Mostly outdoor seating.

The "Big C" - 3/4 lbs of deliciousness

When you first pull in to Clyde's, you just know the experience is going to be fantastic. The fact that they've been in business since 1949 is the first clue that you are about to eat some killer grub. Clyde's did not disappoint! We elected to sit outside on the picnic tables (with umbrella) and quickly we were greeted by a smiling server asking us for our order. As the menu is expansive with all sorts of burgers, sandwiches, platters, and sides, I needed a bit more time to decide. I had read that the "Big C" burger was where the action was, so I ordered it, while my mom ordered a mushroom swiss burger with sweet potato fries. 10 minutes later, the food arrived with regular fries instead of the sweet potato fries. When we mentioned the issue, the server quickly brought out some sweet potato fries and let us keep the regular fries! The regular fries were outstanding, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sweet potato fries were OK, but couldn't compare to the regular fries. However, the star of the show was the "Big C" burger. This burger was 3/4 pounds of fresh ground beef in the form of 2 patties, served on top of a fresh bun, with at least 3 slices of American cheese. Just by looking at this monster, you knew that this was going to be one of the best burgers you had ever touched. It did not disappoint. The patties were juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to a perfect medium well doneness. The quality of the beef was impressive and was likely freshly ground on site. The beef to cheese ratio was perfect with each bite containing just the right amount of orange, salty, tangy goodness with each bite. This burger required no toppings of any sort; they would just distract from the masterpiece that it was. If your burger needs to rely on a sauce, or produce toppings, or bacon, then your burger isn't very good. This burger needed nothing besides the beef, cheese, and the bun. Best burger I've ever had...hands down. My mom's mushroom swiss burger was delicious as well, but couldn't compare to the "Big C". The restaurant is located next to a railroad spur to the local paper mill. We enjoyed watching the boxcars being shuttled in and out of the plant while we enjoyed our food. Can't say enough positive things about Clyde's!

Forget best burger in the UP, Michigan or Midwest. This burger is a candidate for best burger in America! The hospitality, cleanliness, flavor, conversation and everything else in between accentuated the best cheese burger around. Clyde's, especially in Manistique, is worth the drive no matter where you're vacationing or summering in the UP. Absolutely love this place for the food quality, value and the pleasantries!

We got the mushroom & Swiss and regular cheese burger with fries and gravy. The burgers were delicious

I didn't capture our food we were too hungry, but this jeep was there and it made us laugh! We will definitely be back to eat again.

However, I can tell you about The Food, Respect Toward COVID, and their Work Ethic. The Food -- we ordered Deep Fried Pickles, which are hands-down the best fried pickles we've ever had (and we like fried pickles). They were spicy, but not too spicy. It tasted like the pickle itself was spicy and the panko had its own, unique seasoning. I wish they served those as a side dish to the sandwich instead of the fries! I ordered the "Wheaty's Wings" which claim to come with '7 Mammoth wings with every order' and they were some huge wings-- this is a real meal! I ordered plain wings and they were crispy and juicy and hot. Excellent! My husband ordered the Cordon Bleu Sandwich which has a juicy, seasoned chicken beast with Swiss and ham -- think chicken cordon bleu meets hoggie! He woofed that down! We ordered fries with the sandwich for a couple dollars more and they were okay... definitely not the same level of culinary skill as the rest of the food we ordered, we had to add lots of salt (Which is good that they don't load them with salt for people who can't tolerate that) and they still weren't so great. Respect Toward COVID -- Masks are required in order to enter this bar and she's serious! When you walk in, she sanitizes a table for you right there. She is constantly washing her hands and wearing a mask. As I watched her, I saw her touch her face about 3 times and each time she cleaned her hands in some fashion. She sanitizes bar stools, the bar -- she's on top of this. The chef is washing her hands and wearing a mask. There are only 2 women running the whole place and while they're doing all of their work, they're also constantly sanitizing. When people come in off the street and there's no where for them to sit, she gives them the option to sit on patio where they won't get food or drink service, but they can wait and she'll come and get them when a table is free or they can purchase a drink and sit and drink it outside. The tables are spaced more than 6 feet apart and the whole bar can maybe seat 30 max. Work Ethic -- there are 2 women running this VERY busy bar. The Front House Manager and the Chef. They're taking to-go orders and bussing tables and refilling drinks and sanitizing and washing their hands and reminding people to wear masks and every few minutes someone comes in off the street and wants to know when they can get a table. And they're doing it flawlessly! We were there around 9:30pm on a Saturday, so I imagine it was a long day of doing that constantly, but both women were exceptionally polite and answered questions and payed close attention to guests and we never had to wait longer than a few minutes for anything. Support Yooper-ran businesses, support small business, and get the fried pickles!

The seven of us wandered in here an there was literally one person (Josh) working the whole restaurant. He was bar tender, waiter, bus boy and cook. He did a fantastic job of taking care of us even though he had two or three other tables going at the same time. He was efficient, polite, attentive and super friendly and welcoming (a couple of other nearby restaurants declined serving us because it was late and they didn't feel like dealing with our large party). He didn't have any problem with it and was great. The food is basically bar food so I'm not comparing it to other more fine dining type places but I will say that as far as bar food goes they do an awesome job with it. I tried their "Best of Both Worlds" which is a burger and smoked brisket sandwich combined. It's their signature sandwich I guess. It was awesome. Other people had burgers, chicken wraps, chili and stuff like that. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. The bottom line: this is a great little small-town bar to get a couple beers and some good old American bar food in with a local twist. Our combination server, cook and bartender (Josh) was great.

The first drinks we ordered came out half full, tasted awful, and were still somehow $10 each. My coworkers also ordered simple root beers, and they were charged $5 each for those, which was ridiculous. Then we tried ordering whiskey, at an Irish pub that didn't even have Jameson, one of the most basic and famous Irish whiskeys. They also didn't have other common whiskeys we asked for. I even tried ordering a simple 7 and 7, and they didn't have 7-Up or Sprite, so they suggested Pepsi... at a bar. Unreal. The food was even worse. I ordered the fish and chips, and the fish was basically inedible, so tough I could barely cut it with a fork and the taste was terrible. The fries were soggy, and the bread ball sides they served were still frozen in the middle. For three people, the bill was nearly $90, which made it even more frustrating. To top it off, we waited over 30 minutes just to get the bill and leave. Without question, one of the worst restaurant/bar experiences I've ever had. I will never go back, and I'd strongly recommend others avoid it too.
