The family and I decided to try out a local spot at Manistique right after walking the pier to the light house. Got there when they opened. Not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. The bartender was friendly. The only redeeming food star was my daughter's Chicken Alfredo. We all liked that! However the rest of the entrées were a let down. My son's penne pasta with chicken lacked pesto and chicken. My wife's Caesar salad was in her words, "nothing special." My Greek salad with lemon vinaigrette had no lemon flavor whatsoever. My chicken may have been trying to identify as croutons. Yikes! Everyone's chicken portions were so small I'm not sure if they were for a toddler or a really small bird. Most of the food was a letdown. Drinks mioght be considered a redeeming factor and encouraged my review to push from a 2 star to a 3 star: Blueberry Tart Lager - liked it, I'd order it again Manistique Lager - exactly what you'd expect in a Vienna Lager by BJCP style standards I just wasn't feelin' it. Hazy IPA - was lackluster like a dusty old surfboard Blood Orange Seltzer - my risk-it-for-the-biscuit choice ...oddly satisfying. It tasted a little like a creamsicle. My wife's blackberry cider was on point. Send it to us trolls down in the lower peninsula. Kids enjoyed "homemade" root beer. All in all, we spent around $90. I expected more for lunch at that price point especially from place where they claim everything is made from scratch except the BBQ sauce and Caesar dressing. read more

The pizza was good but they were very cheap on topping and seem very rush, my friend only good 6 pieces of sausage and there were 6 pieces of pizza, way less topping then the picture on the website especially for $2.50. Food and beer stop while driving through, loved it! Detroit style pizza and craft pints. Pepperoni and May Flower Wheat Beer for me. Veg and IPA for my little lady. The pizza and breadsticks are sooooo good! We love the breakfast pizzas and the pizza flights best. The salads and wings knock it out of the park and the chicken alfredo definitely hits the spot! They have quite a variety of craft beer, cider, and wine. The house root beer is a kid fave & they love playing pinball in the game area, too. I definitely recommend Flatiron Brewing! read more

I stopped by Flatiron Brewing on a Friday evening for dinner to meet some friends who were staying at the campground. It was very busy, but we had quick service for drinks and food! The beer was incredible! I started off with the strawberry rhubarb. It was very refreshing and light! Absolutely delicious. Then I ordered a flight so I could try some others! The hazy IPA was awesome! I enjoyed all the others, but the Hazy IPA was my favorite. Then there's the FOOD...OUTSTANDING! It was all so delicious! The salad was fresh with homemade croutons! The breadsticks were so flavorful and cheesy! The pizza is out of this world! They have pool tables, darts, a variety of seating, several tv's, and even on a busy Friday night, it wasn't too loud and was very enjoyable! This place is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area- you can't beat it!! read more

For first time visitors it was very welcoming. They were very accommodating in explaining the menu and how to order. I was torn between the lager and the blueberry beer. Our server gave me a compromise and mixed them in my pint. It was delicious and I started a trend. The couple behind me did a blueberry mix for him and a cherry mix for her. My wife had the in house root beer and really liked it. Free refills on that but not the beer! Highly recommend the pizza and the atmosphere was great. read more

Wish I could actually give an opinion on the beer, but after being pointedly ignored by the bartender (fyi for the brewery owners, she was a younger woman with aqua-marine colored hair), we finally just walked out. We sat at the bar literally 2-feet from the bartender. Ok, she was helping a family when we sat down. No problem. The parents of the family weren't sure what to get and went back to their table. Instead of greeting us, the bartender turned to a regular sitting a couple of stools down and asked him if he needed another. Ok again, we can wait. The regular said he was going to finish, so instead of greeting us at this point, she chatted for a few minutes with the regular and then finally asked him if he wanted to cash out. He did. Ok, we can wait. That task finished, the original family who didn't know what they wanted came back up to the bar and she again greeted them, asking if they had decided what they wanted. Still no greeting to us (again, we're sitting at barstools 2-feet away from the bartender). The father of the family still doesn't know what he wants so the bartender gets him a couple of tasters to try. Instead of finally greeting us at this point, the bartender patiently waited as the father tried the tasters and conferred with his wife. At this point I was still mostly amused by the ridiculous lack of recognition from the bartender, but I was definitely starting to get annoyed. Ok so we continue to wait while the family orders three sodas for their kids and (finally) two beers for mom and dad. I had noticed another couple had come in during all of this (10 minutes after we sat down) and were perusing the menu in line behind the family. I thought, "there is NO WAY this bartender will go to them next." But of course she did - still not acknowledging us sitting at the bar TWO-FEET away from her. At this point, my wife said, "Umm, hello?" The bartender briefly glanced at her but continued to talk with the new couple. I got up, told my wife we should leave, and we walked out. Again, not a single word from the bartender. Just bizarre! I love breweries, have been to more than 400 of them all around the country (but mostly around the Great Lakes) and generally appreciate the quirks at different places. This was just bad. I hope it's just a single poor performance by one bad employee, but who knows? I won't be back to find out. Silver lining: I immediately drove another 10 miles down the road to a different brewery and had outstanding service. read more

Food is awesome. No service. Order from your phone, no menus. Be aware that they throw their own 15% tip on your bill and you have no knowledge or opportunity to say ahhhh. NO. Talk to the Beertender... sorry we have no manager on site and I have nothing to do with on line ordering. The food is amazing. They should look at their business model. We won't be back. Horrible customer service from Beertender. No one knew about the tip.... So who's getting that money? read more

This is an amazing restaurant in the U. P. If it was in our hometown, we'd put it as a regular restaurant in our eat-out "rotation". Beer was on short supply but Hazy IPA was awesome. Root beer was great. Pizza was tops!!! Rivals Buddy's in SE Michigan. Some thought better than Buddy's. Up-er Special was the favorite. Salad was great too. Highly recommend stopping here.
