Although I had not visited when the previous owners ran it, the current owner clearly cares about the Inn and the experience it provides for its visitors. The historic nature of the building includes what you might expect: beautiful solid wood finishes, slightly creaky floors, enormous original windows, nooks and niches. It's clean and there are decisive design updates (period-correct wallpapers, lace curtains). The restaurant was great and a step up from the also delicious but more classic corner dining experiences in the area. We plan to return and look forward to the Inn's continual evolution and warm hospitality as we explore Michigan's incredible Upper Peninsula.

I called the number and told the woman that answered that I had a room booked. She told me she had sent me an email with the room number and the code needed to get into the room. After getting inside, we noticed no refrigerator, no microwave and no coffee maker. My socks got filthy on the floor as well. The restaurant that was part of the motel, was closed, permanently, I would guess. The closest restaurant was about 8 miles away. The next morning while trying to get the shower ready, it was apparent that there was no hot water. I have never in my life been to a worst motel. When I sent the woman a text telling her about the lack of hot water, her response was to let it run. We already had tried that and had left. I can't recommend this place, at all. If I could rate it zero stars, I would.

Had to contact and wait in our car or stand in rain waiting for a response. After finally getting into room noticed the bedspread was dirty. Sent a text to see about getting it changed and receiving a hair dryer. When the housekeeper did arrive she was very rude. Basically accused us of dirtying the bedspread. We did not even mention the filth that was under the chair cushion. Yes I look for bedbugs. The restaurant is not open. After arriving home I thought about our experience and I decided to recontact them, I was asked for my email......which I provided. Nothing. Looked up their email and sent my concerns and asked for a reply. 5 days later nothing. I guess a timely response is not required from them, but we had to pay right away and would have been charged if we cancelled too late. Posting this due to the fact I don't want anyone else to have a bad experience. This was the first nights stay of our vacation celebrating our22nd anniversary. Fortunately we didn't let this experience spoil our trip.

The hosts are great. Prices are reasonable (noted on their website). The whole house and grounds are super pretty. Potential Cons - No Wifi at the moment, and AT&T coverage is bad. But you're in the UP, you didn't come here to look at your laptop, did you? - They don't take CCs, so bring cash or check to pay. - Mostly 2-prong outlets, so bring a converter if you need it. This was apparently never done so the rooms were not reserved. It could have been avoided with a simple call to the motel to ensure everything was in order. As far as the other issues noted, I am following up with management to find out more. Please do not let one bad review keep you from staying.
