But they're friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They were a perfect waypoint for us on our trip through the Upper Peninsula. Looking over the website prior to calling for availability, they're up front about their pet policy. They state that they'll accept pets depending on size, breed, and temperament for a $10 up charge. The owner came out and met our 70 pound labradoodle and after a minute was very welcoming. Not sure if we could have brought one much bigger, but ours is gentle and affectionate, so I imagine the combination of big but soft tempered was good enough. At any rate, I'd happily spend a night here again. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

I wanted to tell other travelers that had opted for stays on the other side of the road (not on the lake) what they were missing. The host, Leo, was kind, accommodating, and easy going in all interactions from reservation to checkout. Every day we were offered for the room to be made up entirely, to receive fresh towels, or/and or to have the trash removed. Leo struck the exactly right balance in degree of service, neither pushy nor neglectful. As many others have said, the rooms are spotless. They are simply furnished but have all amenities and clearly have been kept up with meticulous care ( for example, both bathroom and bedroom as well as windows and doors had a fresh coat of paint). Every single piece in the inventory (fridge, lights, AC, etc.) worked perfectly. The spaciousness of the room, the full-size back window in addition to the even larger front window, all easy to open and with a mosquito screen, and the view out on the beautiful, natural backyard adjacent to Lake Michigan were unexpected bonuses. Traffic on the highway (#2), from which the motel is set back quite a bit, dies down in the evening and the rooms seem to be sound proof as nights were quiet and calm. There are so many things to do and see in the area, three nights were not enough. We will definitely be back, perhaps in a different season.

The "house cut fries" were terrible. They were not crispy and tasted as if they were reheated after having been cooked sometime earlier... This place was just a great as described by others. The cozy log cabin feel was so inviting. Our room was clean and homey - such a pleasure to discover after arriving in the middle of the night. There's a real sense of personal charm - even family members of the owner who run the restaurant next door. So much better than any chain motel we stayed in on our trip. The restaurant serves the UP favorite - pasties. I totally recommend this place for travelers looking for a great deal and a warm atmosphere.

It's beautiful, peaceful, and truly in the middle of nowhere. "Resort" is sort of a loose term, as it is essentially four cabins at the end of a small peninsula between Little Lake and Lake Superior. The cabins have gas powered heat, water, and basic electricity but there are no TVs and no great luxuries. The cabins are spacious and comfortable and 3/4 have great views of Little Lake while the 4th is more tucked away in the woods (a short walk to the beach still). I could be biased because I have spent nearly every summer of my life here in addition to fall and winter weekends, but this place is my heaven on earth.

The bed is very comfortable as are the pillows, sheets and blanket! Nice towels too! **I feel that a small hand towel holder to the left of the sink is needed. They provide body wash, lotion, shampoo & conditioner. It's nice to have a blow dryer, iron, ironing board too. There's a small fridge, microwave, Keurig style coffee maker, pods, creamer & sweeteners provided. **Maybe add a light fixture at the coffee bar area (I moved the one from the desk) as there's no light in that area. Possibly provide stirrers at the coffee bar. With the PRIVATE BEACH across the street, my husband and I walked over and walked all along the beach. The second night, we took our camp chairs and cooler and sat listening to the waves and watched the sun go down. The Three Seasons Cafe is right Nextdoor that also has adult beverages. BP gas station just beyond the hotel in walking distance too. The ONLY POOL in town. No hot tub yet. Could use more room outlets. I had my C-Pap, cell phone and lamp. I had to unplug the lamp to plug in the phone and C-Pap. They do provide round the clock coffee & tea in the office. Every morning 6am-11am they provide "To go" breakfast items. Fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins and other items. FREE PARKING!

Love the 50's style kitchen/cabins, with all the necessities for a nice stay! We love the great owners, too (Arnie and Mary Miller). Lakefront property on a big fishing lake. $70/night, 2 night minimum stay, no credit cards accepted (cash or checks only). My husband and I will return to this sweet place year after year.
