Looking over the website prior to calling for availability, they're up front about their pet policy. They state that they'll accept pets depending on size, breed, and temperament for a $10 up charge. The owner came out and met our 70 pound labradoodle and after a minute was very welcoming. Not sure if we could have brought one much bigger, but ours is gentle and affectionate, so I imagine the combination of big but soft tempered was good enough. At any rate, I'd happily spend a night here again. The restaurant that was part of the motel, was closed, permanently, I would guess. The closest restaurant was about 8 miles away. The next morning while trying to get the shower ready, it was apparent that there was no hot water. I have never in my life been to a worst motel. When I sent the woman a text telling her about the lack of hot water, her response was to let it run. We already had tried that and had left. I can't recommend this place, at all. If I could rate it zero stars, I would.

Looked up their email and sent my concerns and asked for a reply. 5 days later nothing. I guess a timely response is not required from them, but we had to pay right away and would have been charged if we cancelled too late. Posting this due to the fact I don't want anyone else to have a bad experience. This was the first nights stay of our vacation celebrating our22nd anniversary. First night we came, I ordered the Cajun Whitefish. Very delicious! I also tried the stuffed whitefish my friend ordered and I liked it more. I also tried the French onion soup, and we got the Brie appetizer. Second night we came back, I tried the Michigan Cherry Pork chops and my friend tried the Coconut Jumbo Shrimp. The bed is very comfortable as are the pillows, sheets and blanket! Nice towels too! **I feel that a small hand towel holder to the left of the sink is needed. They provide body wash, lotion, shampoo & conditioner. It's nice to have a blow dryer, iron, ironing board too. There's a small fridge, microwave, Keurig style coffee maker, pods, creamer & sweeteners provided. **Maybe add a light fixture at the coffee bar area (I moved the one from the desk) as there's no light in that area. Possibly provide stirrers at the coffee bar. With the PRIVATE BEACH across the street, my husband and I walked over and walked all along the beach. I had to unplug the lamp to plug in the phone and C-Pap. They do provide round the clock coffee & tea in the office. Every morning 6am-11am they provide "To go" breakfast items. For a roadside motel in a quiet corner of Northern Michigan, good sleep is what I need, and the place delivered. In fact, the beds were better than many of the ones I've tried at much pricier hotels. OK, a Westin bed might be nicer, but this was pretty close. And you can't beat the charm of the vintage neon sign out front. The Manistique Boardwalk and lake access are across the street. The place was well maintained. The owner, Michael, takes great pride in this motel, and it shows. My only minor comment is that the shades in the room could be darker. There was a bit of glare shining through. Personally, it didn't bother me, but a light sleeper might find it problematic.
