While on a quick trip to visit family in the UK, I stopped by TOZI in Victoria for lunch with my niece. It was a short walk from Victoria Station, and a special reunion; we hadn't seen each other since our uncle's funeral a year ago, which was also the first time I'd seen her since she was a toddler. TOZI's cozy atmosphere made the moment even more meaningful. We shared a few dishes, perfectly al dente rigatoni, juicy roasted chicken with crisp potatoes, and a plate that reminded me why Italian food is all about quality ingredients. Our server, Santa, from the Dominican Republic, was an absolute gem. We clicked instantly, swapping stories about her hometown and how she found her way to London. This review is basically for breakfast. My wife and I stayed at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel and Tozi is the restaurant connected to it. The hotel has a huge lobby / bar right outside the entrance to the restaurant so if you have to wait there is plenty of seating area. We were there for two nights and really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Quite frankly, I have never seen a breakfast buffet like this before (size wise) outside of Las Vegas. If you can think of it... they had it. A hot area and a cold area and one specifically dedicated to bread, any kind of bread you can think of. Hot and cold cereal with any kind of topping you can think of. They had the hot items on a counter with all the regular choices of eggs, french toast and their house special a frittata of eggs with ham and cheese. This was delicious. They call it "The House Special." The team here like the rest of the hotel was terrific and attentive to our needs of cold water and coffee. We decided to dine at Tozi because we were exhausted and it was attached to our hotel. We were able to walk in around 6 pm and request a reservation for 8:30. (Earliest they had available). Service was very good. We enjoyed the fried zucchini and meats and cheeses. My sister ordered the Buffalo ricotta ravioli with truffle and it was quite tasty. Sadly, I am writing this review a week after we went and I just cannot remember the rest of the main courses. I only ate from the appetizers and was plenty full so did not order anything else. We were seated in the bar area because it was busy and we did not have reservations. The food comes in small plates but the buffalo ricotta cheese ravioli and slow roasted lamb was very delicious. The best meal so far in London. The only downside was the waiter who appeared to lose interest in our party as time went on. It took over 30 minutes from the end of our meal to get the check. Tozi is a stand out restaurant close to Victoria station that serves their food in small, sharing plates portions. Personally, I really enjoyed this as it allowed my friend and I to order lots of different small plates to try. Tozi's atmosphere is casual, yet refined making this a great place for after work drinks, pre-theatre dinner, or date night. The restaurant is spacious and features an open kitchen and friendly service. All of the food was outstanding. We ordered the Pizetta with baby spinach, goats cheese, and pine nuts; the Spinata with four cheeses, potatoes, and black truffle pesto; Burrata with heritage tomato and basil; and the Buffalo ricotta ravioli with black truffle. If you only get one thing here, you MUST try the buffalo ricotta ravioli. It's the best thing I've ever eaten. My friend and I both got the Summer Spritzers for drinks. It was refreshing and presented beautifully, but at £11, they were the most expensive thing we ordered and I'm not quite sure it was worth it. I would say skip the drinks and order dessert instead. Nice spot near Victoria Station. Relatively easy to make reservations same day (though it might be a later dinner), and I love their focus on cicchetti which allows you to try a bit of everything. Favorites include octopus, sea bass, duck carpaccio and sea bass. We tried: Wild mushroom, endive, quail eggs & truffle salad - My favorite of the three salads we got. I love truffle and the mushrooms were good, mixed with just the right dash of vinegar to bring it all together. Avocado, parmesan, radish & baby gem salad - Least interesting, most bland salad of the ones we tried. Tuna tartare, chili, lime & rocket - Run of the mill tuna tartare. Nothing special. Octopus, chickpea purée, fennel, capers & chilli - First time we had it, the octopus was super tender and just phenomenal. Second time wasn't as phenomenal but it was still good. Selection of cured meats - I don't recall being very impressed by any of the meats. Smoked duck carpaccio - Very good, another favorite Char grilled whole wild sea bass, salsa verde - They bring out the whole fish and then fillet it in front of you. The fish is simply prepared but it's delicious. Get it if you're feeling hungry. TOZI affogato - Strong coffee flavor what you'd expect of an affogato. Pistachio tiramisù - Stellar. My favorite dessert of the night, very good rendition of tiramisu with the added pistachio twist. read more

Venetian tapas, eh? Never heard of them, but in for a penny in for a pound. We came here for a lunch so I wasn't paying or ordering. BOOM! We started with a selection of bread and olive oil. MY SECRET SHAME. Carbs, can't get enough of a bread plate. And various meat selection. My other secret shame. Then came the burrata. My other sec.... I might as well stop. I have a lot of vices, ok? Almost all of them charcuterie related. The burrata was good, not the best I've ever had, but good. Maybe I should've saved some of the bread to mop it up*. All the plates came in succession to each other, which was not ideal for me as I like to mix and match. But when the butter black truffle ravioli came, I forgot about that. Butter sauce, have you ever eaten butter sauce? Fish with basil sauce and lentils followed. Bit too healthy for me. Avocado salad with endive, healthy too but I loved. Then chicken with roasted potatoes. Amazing. Ah but the dessert, the dessert. Decadent chocolate pudding with coconut icecream. My favourite. And a strudel that was warm and tasty. Well, the food was ok. The wine was actually pretty good. However, the customer service was the worst I have EVER experienced in my whole life and believe me - I've travelled far and wide in my time! When I popped to the loo someone puked and it OMG poured under the door. When I opened the door there was a sea of puke to wade through which was like something from a VERY bad dream. And for some VERY odd reason the manager couldn't quite get his head around why on earth I would be upset. It was a laughable experience really but also (I can still smell the vomit BTW) a WOW beam me up Scotty kind of moment. Good luck if you go there! Tozi! You are delicious! The food is Venetian style share plates which, in my opinion, is the best way to eat Italian (well all) foods. This means you can try as much as your belly will let you. Excellent. Highly recommended is the ricotta filled ravioli with truffles. Wow, just wow. The aubergine parmigiana and roasted fennel and spelt salad are also great and the calamari fritti delivers everything the old favourite promises. To be honest, I don't think there is much you can go wrong with. Even their cheeses are amazing. So this is a super large well thought out space in the middle of Victoria. It's a place that you would think would be 'white table cloth' but it seems like the have made a conscious decision not to have these. And the place is better for it. The service is as good as and a white table cloth restaurant but with the relaxed, contemporary feel of a New York style bistro. Disgusting. After finishing our overpriced and under seasoned meal we watched the chef take his cooking spoon and taste it, note this wasn't a tasting spoon. When we tried to inform the manager he told us we were wrong and then watched the same chef do it a further two more times. His reasoning was that he tasted the (wooden) spoon then put it in water and then continued to cook with it. I wasn't aware that dipping a contaminated spoon in dirty water cleaned it but apparently the staff and Tozi have magic powers. It made me feel ill that we had eaten there and felt bad for the other guests who were arriving for their meals. read more

Victoria London; Never really been a destination area for amazing restaurant choices. Having worked in the area for 5 years (BB; Before Bebe), always felt Victoria was a bit of a black hole for reasonably priced foodie venues. However, things have changed (with recent openings of Iberica, A Wong) and now on our hit list, TOZI. Tozi has not been on the LFM radar, not sure why, just less of a buzz and/or press overage compared to similar venues (on par with the likes of the exponentially growing Polpo chain or Trullo in Islington or Zucca in Bermondsey). The Italian tapas style concept is gathering pace and Tozi is fantastic. Stand out dishes were the soft shell crab and deep fried zucchini shoe string fries (LFM diet starts next week). Disappointed by the Pizzetta (rather bland) especially with the enticing wood fired oven on display as a centre piece. Leave room for dessert - Merningata, yoghurt & amarene was to die for! The venue is spacious and light n airy - lots of buggy space and high chairs available. Baby changing facilities present but a little trek into the basement of the adjacent hotel (super clean - we like A LOT). We haven't awarded top Bebe Friendly Scores as Tozi is kinda chic and too 'smart' for a screaming baby, especially in the evening. Delicious food with a friendly waiter?! In London?! I do tease. Maybe We were very tired from a day of touring and didn't want to venture very far from our hotel for dinner. We had walked by this place several times and decided on a whim to try it out. So we walked in and were seated immediately. This is a tapas style restaurant so the portions are small and you are meant to order about three plates. I ordered the bruschetta, lamb Milanese, and the buffalo mozzarella ravioli with black truffle. If I did it again I would have gotten at least two orders of the buffalo mozzarella ravioli. Delicious! Our waiter almost out shined all of it. He was a riot! I believe his name was Gabriel? Unfortunately he was planning on transferring to another location. Because of him it was one of my top dining experiences, and I live a city away from all the best restaurants you could ask for. My mom and I had dinner here on a Friday night and it was a great location to have our first dinner in London. It's all small plates, which was nice because it was just my mom and I, so we got to try several things. The stand outs were the burrata plate and the wild mushroom cannelloni, which was so rich! We came to Tozi on the recommendation of our hotel concierge, which I'm honestly always dubious about. That said, the food was fantastic. We split the burrata and a flat pizza appetizer, and then for our mains ordered two additional small plates each. I had the buffalo ricotta ravioli and the grilled vegetables with goat's cheese. The grilled vegetables against the melted cheese were delicious, and didn't taste as generic as my description might imply. They were a delicious choice. The ravioli was the real star, though. The dough was fresh, the filling rich, and the sauce completely decadent. So I can safely the food was not the issue. I took issue with the service. It was a blend of condescending and patronizing. One of the very few decent restaurants in Victoria station area. It is Italian style tapas, which I really like, because I can try a variety of things. It was exactly what happened. I took my intern there for lunch and we ordered one dish from each category of food. We had a flatbread from the wood oven, fried softshell crab, burrata salad, and duck ragu pasta. Everything was quite delicious, but the portion was small as well. I had a good experience here, but I don't have the urge of going back. It feels like one of those well operated chain restaurants. I had never had Venice-style Cicchetti -- basically Italian tapas -- but came here at the suggestion of a colleague and loved it! It's definitely better to come here with a group of people, to be able to try a lot of different things. I lost track of what the six of us had, but among the highlights were: - Buffalo ricotta ravioli, black truffle: delicious with the truffle flavor - Grand selection of cured meats and cheeses: one of the cheeses was aged in Barolo, and was delicous - Ox cheeks, wild mushroom, jus: this was my favorite. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Service was friendly though at times it took a while to get simple requests such as another bottle of water. Food came out very quickly from when we ordered. There were a number of people serving us, but our main waitress, Margarita(?), was very nice and explained to us details of what we were eating. I really liked the ambiance here. It's a modern setting with big windows and an open kitchen. It can be loud with the music and other patrons (the restaurant was at capacity when we went on a Thursday night), but our party was able to converse without too much difficulty. I wanted to love this place, but something left me cold. The same for the other people i was with. The service is seems friendly and wanted to please, done by trendy and good looking people. Somehow they were slightly fake and I did not feel they geuinely want it to be personally friendly. The decor is trendy, but somehow it left us cold, you maybe more pictures, colour or something would do it, it just lacks heart. The food is good, but being Italian tapas you need to 3 bits a person so not as cheap as may think if not realise that. The food is good, nicely cooked with good ingredients, but some of the portions are very small. Technically good, but without a warmth and genuine love which left us cold. It was only 2/3rds on this Saturday night we went, which is not a good sign when the other local restaurants are all fully booked. Sadly I will not be returning and would not bring anyone else there. I am drooling thinking about this meal. I'm from NY and the restaurants in the theater district can really be hit or miss so I was a bit hesitant to try this place, but MY GOODNESS I'm glad I did. I had theater tickets to Wicked (see that too!) and sat alone and needed to be out in just over an hour for the show. Service was first class - very friendly server and support staff. My server recommended a DELICIOUS red wine that paired very well with my meal. For food I had the carpacccio (amazing), burrata and tomato on some sort of toast (amazing, so fresh!), and - the finale - the buffalo ricotta ravioli that had me actually audibly moaning with each bite. Our server was very polite and courteous. I had an excellent cocktail, Peruvian Connection. My dining partner has a nice prosecco. I liked the small plates concept. It allows you to try various dishes without totally committing to one thing. We had, tuna tartare, crab ravioli, scallops, Artichoke, and baby chicken. The pannacotta dessert was outstanding! Tozi is very close to Victoria station and the theater Wicked plays at (as of April 2017). My only complaint is 4 pounds for san pellagrino still water is a little excessive. I'm sorry but I can't understand all the 5 star reviews. I took some clients here and our opinion was unanimous - you can't have Italian tapas, it's not meant for sharing. We ordered a bit of everything, but some of the dishes were so small, and so difficult to share we had to take micro-portions between us to get a taste. The pasta dishes were just ok in my opinion. I couldn't make head nor tail of the macaroni cheese (it certainly didn't look like one). There were also a lot of deep fried dishes (prawns, crabs, octopus) which were all pleasant enough, nothing to write home about. I'm not really a fan of the concept so I wouldn't go back. read more

Went there with a group of 9 from the US. The staff was very accommodating in making arrangements in advance. They worked the menu around allergies. The price was reasonable. Very close to the theater. Several in our group called it the best food of the trip. Overall, a very nice experience. The décor and lighting is very nice as well. read more

This place was such a pleasant surprise to me...a friend chose this venue for a goodbye dinner and I had never heard of it. When she said it was an Italian place focusing on Venetian fare, I was like, um, sure, whoever gets overly excited about Italian cuisine...I've seen it all before. OMG, what a fail on my part. Loved everything that was ordered and there was quite a variety as it was a large crowd. I went to Tozi on a whim since I'm staying in the Park Plaza Victoria London hotel, whose lobby leads to the restaurant. I did not know what to expect as one can never be too sure about restaurants attached to hotels. I've been to Venice but have never had the Venetian cicchetti (small plates). The maître d' recommended that I order three plates for myself (since I was dining alone). So, I ordered the pizzetta with mozzarella, tomato, and spicy sausage; the soft shell crab with chilis, and the veal ravioli. The pizzetta was hand made and prepared in the restaurant's brick oven. The sausage was a perfect accompaniment to the cheese and tomatoes. And, after my last bite, I wished that there was more. I quickly forgot my sadness when the delicate tower of soft shell crabs, served with chili peppers and fresh pesto, arrived. Even better than the pizza! I savored the balance flavors and textures of the dish and could not wait for the next dish to arrive. Last, but certainly not least, I had the veal ravioli. Wow. Absolutely amazing. If I weren't saving room for dessert, and wasn't concerned about looking like a human vacuum, I would have sopped up the remaining sauce with a piece of bread. Alas, I stopped myself. And, good thing... For dessert, I had the chocolate delice with hazelnuts and coconut sorbet. I'm pretty sure that's what Heaven takes like in dessert form. Italian "tapas" is what the menu is all about, as explained to me by the friendly service staff. That seemed like it would work fine for a quick pre-theater bite, but none of the dishes I had were standouts; the pizzette, carpaccio and single bread-crusted scallop were all fine, but nothing extraordinary, even though they came with extraordinary prices. The pistachio tiramisu however was exceptional as was the refreshing watermelon prosecco cocktail the bartenders were peddling on a very hot day. This restaurant was recommended by our concierge and it was a perfect choice for a romantic dinner before seeing Wicked. The small plates are all about quality, not quantity. It wasn't very busy when we were there, so not terribly loud, despite the open floor plan/kitchen. I had the watermelon spritzer and my husband had the Negroni. Nice selection of wine. Great suggestions were made by our waiter (and not always the most expensive choice). The food was succulent. My favorite was the buffalo cheese ravoli with truffles - I could eat this every day and never get bored. We also had the scallops which just melted in our mouths.
