Oh honey nooooo. Very disappointed with this dining experience. Such a waste of money and the quality of food was so average. This is just another tourist death trap in the middle of Leicester Square/Covent Garden. I came here with one of my girlfriends for what was supposed to be a nice wine and dine experience. I've been to some of the best, most authentic Italian restaurants in the world, and not even at those locations were portions this small and prices this high. The portion sizes were almost laughable. £21 for 5 cold ravioli with no flavour and processed sauce? Followed by what, another meek portion of £25 octopus? Quality of the food was just... bad. I really hate being harsh in reviews but this place was almost offensive. I will say the service was okay, and the wait staff tried to be attentive. But other than that, the only thing I'd recommend this place for is after-work cheese & wine before going to an actually decent restaurant.

I have no words for this restaurant. Found it by accident and fell in love. The food was perfection. The service impeccable. The ambiance, elegant and relaxing. Every vegetable taste like it was freshly picked from the garden. We picked the perfect wine. The lamb was perfectly seasoned. I would have taken a picture but before I realized it, my plate was empty. Definitely a place to revisit on my next trip. Thank you Margot!

Polite, refined and proud, Margot has all the air of a promising fine-dining establishment. With the exception of being able to hear the head chef yell at his subordinates in the open kitchen (probably only a feature during the soft launch), the service overall was attentive and cheerful. Ask one of the staff and you could learn about the delightful tale to the origins of the restaurant, its name and its logo.  The food itself wasn't quite up to the standard it had set for itself. First off the breadsticks were somewhat soft from having been left to oxidate in the air for a bit too long and were a little too salty whilst not being accompanied with any dip. The foccacia bread that is offered at the beginning of the meal was also too salty, yet the alternative of wholemeal bread tasted bland. Meanwhile the olive oil dip to accompany the bread was better than the breads themselves.  There is no doubt that the starters and mains were very well presented with symmetry, colour and creativity. The crab salad I had was sumptuous in crab flavour and well paired with the salad dressing. The cod fish was okay but only really memorable because it was on a bed of squid ink covered barley (which was not well received in any case). I was pleasantly surprised by the sirloin steak which was evenly cooked, a decent size and juicy as well as nicely fragrant alongside a wild mushroom sauce. The sides were nothing exceptional but also nothing untoward. So all in all, Margot seems to be able to offer a decent dining experience but perhaps needs to tweak its menu and final product somewhat to match its full culinary potential.

Great experience. I went here with my girlfriend and her two friends and it was a very nice fine dining experience. We got the salami board and cheese board and they were beautifully presented. Then my main course was Chicken Terrine with Mashed and Gravy which was very flavorful and delicious. I wanted to get a pasta dish or appetizer but the place is a little out of my price range. I ended up getting desert and my girlfriend got the Tiramisu and she loved it. I got Rhubarb Panna Cotta and I loved it. It made me feel like I was lactose intolerant but I think that's my own fault for compulsively drinking London tap water after flying over from the US. Beautiful restaurant and they even took me in to the pass to show me the kitchen. It was a very small kitchen so I was immediately impressed by the size of the menu and the quality of the dishes. The chefs here are definitely professionals and if I had more money I would love to go back but this was probably a one off. But I was very happy with my experience. It's family owned and it's always nice to dine in a place where you know the experience is unique.

When in London, this is a must! My husband and I had dinner here and the food, drinks, service and environment were all perfection. The restaurant has a bit of a French fine dining decor with beautiful black/white Photograhy displays. All the tables were full and I'm glad I made reservations a month in advance. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist greeted us with kindness and assured us as soon as our table was ready she would alert us. We sat at the bar for cocktails and wine. Our server, Arthur, was extremely professional and helpful. He gave us good guidance regarding which dishes were best to select. We ate the following salad and main dishes that were beyond perfection: Beetroot Salad, Tagliolini Lobster, Cacio & Pepe pasta; desserts - (the only thing not that great was the panna cotta) and lemon tart. For drinks the (perfection) Giardino Di Kyoto and Clavis Orea wine. At the end of the evening we needed a taxicab and Arthur went outisde to flag one down for us.

I'm struggling between a 3.5 or 4. The food is really tasty. I loved my linguini pasta with pesto. The flavors were perfect and the pesto was just beautiful. It was paired with some lame beans potatoes, almost would have been better with just pesto. The focaccia bread was also super pillowy, so soft and yummy. Also crushed my dessert which was the petite gateau. The reason I struggle is because the service is quite pretentious. If you don't look like you're going to drop £200 per person, no smiles for you. That's what it felt like.

The upstairs is a corner view onto a street with dark woods and leather booths, while inside an open kitchen and a low-key young crew is putting out some simple, tasty food. Mostly appetizers, pastas and some pesce and carne dishes. Not a destination, but a good spot and one of the few restaurants on the street open on a Sunday. The downstairs basement hosts a cocktail bar that was closed on the Sunday we visited. We enjoyed the feel of the place, along with a bit of montepulciano d'abruzzo, some olives, a green salad, pork belly and a toothsome risotto with zucchini and prawns. Not a bad meal, priced pretty well, and a nice setting with friendly staff. We had such a good time that we failed to notice the police inspectress inside talking to the Paesan crew. The white and red police tape line both inside and outside the restaurant were in our peripheral view the whole dinner, but once outside, we noticed that a gigantic police triangle of tape took up the entire street corner, a female inspector was stationed there, and that down on the cobblestone sidewalk, a streetful of dessicated lemon and lime wedges lay from the night before, leading us to ponder, what exactly had happened here?

The waitress was helpful and calm and the red wine warm and fruity. I'll come again for definites. There is a cocktail bar in the basement and a choice of some interesting sharing options on the main menu for groups. Prices are very reasonable and if my meal was anything to go by, the rest will be as good. I am well impressed.

Instead of trying to resolve the issue professionally, the owner became extremely rude and dismissive. Shockingly, he brought us the bill immediately, refused to serve the rest of the items we had already ordered (including the tiramisu), and directly asked us to leave the restaurant. We were calm and respectful throughout the interaction, but he refused to even listen to our side before abruptly ending the conversation with, "I'll get your bill," and telling us to leave. I honestly don't know whether he was irritated because we had an infant with us or because we requested a modification, but the behaviour was completely unacceptable and deeply disappointing. I still can't believe a restaurant in London could treat customers this way. Truly unbelievable service and an experience I would never want anyone else to go through. We initially ordered 3 items. The pizza was absolutely fine, so we never raised any concern about it. However, the pasta simply didn't suit our taste buds, so we politely requested a few alterations. Instead of handling it professionally, you refused to serve the tiramisu as well -- assuming we'd dislike that too and ask for modifications? Honestly, I wish I had taken a picture of the pasta to show how it looked. As a restaurant owner, you should understand that every customer has different taste preferences. And just for clarification -- we never asked for the pasta to be cancelled. In fact, we were even willing to pack it and take it home after paying for it, despite not liking the taste. You were the one who offered to cancel the remaining order, and we simply agreed. I would humbly request whoever is in charge to please check the CCTV footage and see whether we were ever rude while requesting alterations. Throughout the interaction, you only kept speaking from your side and didn't even give my wife a chance to explain. Is that really what good customer service looks like?
