It was my first time eating there and we went for lunch and it didn't disappoint me one bit. The service is exceptional! Tavis was our waiter. Attentive but not too much. The food was so delicious I just tasted a spoonful of my granddaughter's Clam Chowder and it was thick and white which confused me, because it looked not seasoned, But it was the Best chowder I've Ever had! I ordered French Onion Soup and it was so good, but it was so cheesy I couldn't get to the French bread, onions and broth. I also had the stuffed quahogs and they were yummy served with melted butter. We went in Monday, looking for some Sushi we heard their's was triple delicious. Stopped by here on a whim as we were coming from the Cape. So glad we did as it was excellent! Service was great. Food arrived promptly. Clam chowder was flavorful and creamy. Anytime, that I do not need to add salt to my chowder to add flavor is a win. Plus it came out hot. I can't stand when restaurants serve luke warm chowder. The grilled avocados are a must! The margarita flight was not very good and tasted like fake mix so I suggest avoiding that. Hard to even tell the different flavors but love the concept. Hubby had chicken sandwich and loved it. Lovee this place but there were some hiccups. First got there and we were quoted a 40 min wait, and unfortunately it took a little longer but that wasn't a problem. Then, service was a little slow, but the place was super busy and packed with people so I guess there was a good reason for it. The food was super tasty like usual so I was happy, but it seemed like it was sitting for a sec before it got delivered to the table because it was luke warm. We went back again for St. Patrick's Day and I had the same meal as last time, and recommended it to our friends, instead of boiled dinner. One of us had the boiled dinner and one (my contrarian hubby) had the same pizza he ordered last time but two of us had the Bangers and Mash. Just delicious! Meaty, juicy sausages, colcannon mashed potatoes and a terrific Guinness onion gravy with peas on the side. Our server was prompt, easy and very friendly. The atmosphere is what you might expect at a roadside place, former landmark restaurant with a suburban "KENO" bar update. This is our second visit to Towne Tavern during a busy dinner hour. We started out with a tuna tartare app and a bottle of Pinot. The service was friendly and quick w/ helpful guide through dinner specials and wine choices. Everyone was happy with their dinner selection but I'll speak for myself for my own. I chose a small caesar salad this time because I saw the portion sizes during my last visit. I had them add grilled scallops and they are not stingy with that either! I love how the servers are all so active on the floor. They all hustled and supported each other really well. It's definitely our first choice in the area to grab drinks and a good meal with our friends. We'll be back soon. read more

Boy, I miss Lindsey's this place was so bad! Got seated for a girls night three of us sat near the bar didn't get acknowledged for I don't know 15 minutes. When are we just finally did come over she took a drink order, but by that point, we knew what we wanted for food too, so she had to call her back. It was the first visit for both of us. Our server, Julia, was pleasant and engaging. She rose to the challenge when I had her pick my lunch and surprise me (I gave her a few things to choose from). Dad had the Steak Tips and Julia choose the Baked Haddock - Towne Newburg Style for me. Both meals had generous portions and were prepared to perfection. I'd never had fish prepared this way. "Towne Newburg Style" meant that the haddock was covered in a layer of their seafood bisque prior to being baked. The result was next level. The taste was as expected, but the $9.00/glass price was out of line with this level of restaurant and the quality of the wine. I ordered the BBQ Ribs and my wife ordered the Blackened Ahi Tuna. Both were disappointing. The ribs tasted like the stuff many restaurants buy prepackaged from Costco. Certainly not worth the $25 price tag. I did like the fries and the coleslaw was acceptable. My wife reports that the tuna was low quality and tough with noodles that tasted salty. The portion was generous and was nicely presented. They have Prime Rib on Friday and Saturday nights, but given that they don't take reservations, we will have to wait until after the summer tourist season before deciding if we are willing to go back to give the Prime Rib a try. read more

We decided to have dinner here on Halloween evening. The bar was busy, crowded. We were seated in a great booth with no wait. I ordered the prime rib special, and a draft beer;, my husband ordered steak tips and red wine. He was totally happy with his meal. My prime rib was slightly undercooked based on my idea of "medium". The veggies were awesome. The beer was cold. Service was reasonably prompt and friendly. The overall vibe was good. We stayed for coffee and dessert. I can recommend the crème brûlée. The decaf coffee was somewhat bitter. I would come here again and stick to the beer and burger menu. read more

I was impressed with Towne Tavern. I had the chicken tacos and my mother chose the chicken pot pie. The waitress we had was just exceptional and helped give a five star review. We could not believe how well presented the place was after such a short time of work they placed on the building. There were well presented images of Wareham from the last sixty or seventy years or so with excellent clarity and all were images that meant something to you if you were from the area. Very pleasing. The colors were also perfect from the stand point of the look of the place. Very comforting. Truly the food was excellent. Fresh in every aspect it came out at a perfect time and was extremely well heated and the tastes were superb. My plate of tacos was presented with fries which seemed odd when it came, but my god the fries were excellent, just look at the photo of the taco plate and you can see how fresh they were from potatoes cut up right there. Finally had a chance to try this place since being opened and can say the new decor is great except for all the TVs and Keno screens in the dining room. When we arrived we were greeted and seated straight away and our waitress was great and took good care of us. I couldn't wait to try the food as I had not eaten all day and was excited from all the good reviews we had heard from others. We started the meal with the steak and cheese egg rolls and they were nice and full of meat and came with a nice spicy dipping sauce. After we ate our appetizer our salads came and they were very fresh and very large for a small salad, so we had high hopes for the mains. So the mains came and I had the braised short ribs and that's when I noticed that there wasn't much meat on the plate, and what was there was very tough, fatty and tasted like old reheated prime rib. The plate was mostly filled with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts and the whole meal was very over salted making it hard to eat. My wife had the chicken pot pie and it tasted decent but there was barely any chicken in it and not a lot of peas or carrots either and it was over salted as well. The top crust was super thin and half cooked. Also the whole bowel was filled with mashed potatoes and the gravy with what little chicken there was, was all on the sides and none in the middle as it was a mountain of mashed potatoes which is unacceptable. My wife also ordered the wine and what was served to my wife was almost non existent and two glasses wouldn't even suffice for a glass at any other restaurant we frequent. Also I did not feel well after I came home and spent the next day in the bathroom. For the price that is charged for these meals it is bad that they are filled with fillers like mashed potatoes and the real parts to the meal are lacking and insufficient. We were very disappointed in our meals but the service was great so it's hard for me to give this 2 stars. I was hoping for a great new local place to go, but I can say I will not be returning any time soon. read more

We've been to Towne Tavern twice since they've been opened and had great experiences so far! We had Mary and Kayla as our servers and they were both great! Food has been really good! I loved my turkey tips and the nachos were delicious. The hubby loved his fish tacos as well, he also got the chicken pot pie and shared some with me. So tasty! It was very busy both times we went but they've done a great job with decor and the overall vibe. They managed to get us seated pretty quickly both times. My husband and I tried out Towne because it's new in town and we got a gift card from a friend. We were seated promptly and gave our order for drinks, apps. and entrees. The Long Island my husband got was very heavy on the sour mix causing the drink to be too bitter. Next we got apps - chowder which was delicious but so hot I had to wait a while to eat it. My husband had stuffed quahogs and we split the avocado dish. In general the food was terrific. That said, our entrees came before we took two bites of our apps. So the fish tacos and fried rice cooled off before we could even start to eat them. We definitely felt rushed..even after the table was cleared we had a couple people (manager?) stop by to see if we were ok. We were just talking since we didn't have much time given the rush on the food. We will try it again but will mention that we aren't in a rush. read more

Service was very good, waitress takes the order and enters it into a hand held device, then as soon as it is ready a different server brings it out from the kitchen. Terrible service. The food was really good, but it was definitely overshadowed by the awful service. The server said it was her first day of training and I was very surprised that she was allowed to take orders and answer menu questions. She didn't know that pretzel bites were no longer on the menu and we ended up getting these whole pretzels that we didn't want. She wasn't able to answer my questions very well at all. Had to wait forever to get her to take our food order and then when we were finally done with dinner, we sat there with empty plates and empty soda cups for nearly half an hour while the server was nowhere to be found. We went there a few weeks ago for the first time and the food was spot on. The service was just mediocre, but it definitely went way downhill tonight. I hate to complain and it's a shame to ruin that great food with awful service, but we definitely won't be going back. What a shame.. read more

Went for dinner last night 4/12/25 with two other couples- 6 total. Waited 45 minutes for a table around 6 pm. The restaurant is very busy and loud- open concept. Ordered steak tips and others ordered the French Dip sandwich. Server was not good- Waited a while for service at our table and did not check back to see how the dinner was. Steak tips- colder than the temperature in my mouth when served. Chewy in texture and not of good meat quality. French dip- Dried out and served cold- Again our server was not attentive. Lastly, their plastic Pepsi glasses smell of bleach which went away with a Pepsi. This was a very disappointing experience all around as everything was in their control. No bueno. read more

Went there on a Thursday around 1830hrs . It was packed they said it was around a 25 minute wait . We waited approximately 15 minutes before we were seated. I love the way they updated the restaurant, it a very nice relaxing cozy atmosphere. Our waitress was amazing and even though it was crowded we never felt rushed. She took our drink order most cocktails were around $11.00 , bottle beer $4.50 and Draft $5.00 . I had a Blackberry gin spritzer it was amazing. Then she came back and took our appetizer order. We had the Burrata Board. The Burrata cheese was soft and creamy and tasted great with crushed pistachios on top. I loved the texture of the soft cheese with the crunchy pistachios. The flat bread was fresh and warm and was drizzled with a fig jam. I didn't think I would like the fig jam but it wasn't that sweet and paired well with the salty prosciutto (the prosciutto was top quality ) and savory cheese. Absolutely loved it 5 stars. Our waitress then came back when we were half way done with our appetizer and took our entree order. I got the chicken pot pie . Our entrees came out pretty quickly. The chicken pot pie was amazing best I have had at a restaurant. The bottom of the pie was whipped mashed potatoes , the filling was shredded chicken and vegetables. Every spoonful was loaded with chicken and vegetables. It was the perfect balance of creamy goodness shredded chicken and veggies. My dad got the fish and chips . Great portion sizes, the batter was crispy but not thick . The fries are like steak fries and were also very good. Food and waitress were both 5 stars , if we want a nice relaxing meal to be able to sit and talk with your company, this is the restaurant for you !!!!!! read more

I tried this new place in Wareham last night for a coworker's birthday. We had a great time, and everyone loved their food. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating to our larger party. As a vegan, my options are always limited but I was happy to see a veggie burger I could enjoy. Towne Tavern East Wareham. The old Lindsay's for those who know it. I had clam chowder. Very think, no flavor almost like glue. I always get chowda! I could not finish this it was awful. My Husband had the onion soup. So think & salty....all onions and no broth. I had a spoonful, OMG! Yuck! The bar tender at the bar was awful. It was early, only 4 people at the bar and she could barely give us the time of the day. Very snippy and made an awful cocktail. For $9 a drink, put some in the glass.
