We shared the Harvest Wrap - our roasted chicken, fresh apple slices, Craisins, American cheese, lettuce, and honey mustard dressing and the Turkey & Avocado - sliced turkey breast, fresh avocado slices, tomatoes, lettuce, American cheese, and cranberry mustard. Both are delicious and abundant! The staff was welcoming and helpful and choices. And the grounds are absolutely beautiful, including the gift and history shop with free samples of Craisins! Visited a friend in Wareham and she said we had to visit Makepeace Farms so I could try the delicious Thanksgiving sandwich. She really hyped this sandwich up and I was VERY surprised how amazing this sandwich was. I don't like turkey but they have converted me with this sandwich. I bought the fixings at home to make this myself because it was so good I wanted another! (I live in Florida). The tour group that was staying at the same hotel as I told me that a cranberry bog tour should be something that my wife and I do. With only a few hours of planning, the Makepeace Farm was the place that I visited. We didn't do a cranberry bog tour as they couldn't accomodate us, but, they did have a nice gift shop and cafe. The gift shop had all things cranberries. The cafe serves up reasonably priced sandwiches and wraps. It was a good way for us to spend about 30 minutes. read more

Had a wonderful time this past weekend in Boston visiting cranberry bogs! This was one of my bucket list things to do in the USA. Makepeace Farms was recommended to us by the big company we toured. I just love how they take care and act like family to each other in the area. Very easy to find, great parking, and customer service was great. The inside was very inviting to all. I walked around a bit and looked at all the cranberry goodies and treats. They do have seating once you order has been taken. The line to order was long, but they also only had two employees working at the time. So pack your patience and enjoy. The food was amazing and fairly priced. The Farm was clean and well maintained. Outside had a area set up for weddings. I do recommend if your in the area to visit, our soup and cranberry cookies where so good! read more

This is a beloved, local cafe. It is generally closed in the winter, post holidays, and I am so happy that it has opened again in the last couple of weeks. Their sandwiches and baked goods are reasonably priced and everyone is so very friendly! The gift shop portion of the cafe is wonderful, featuring all things cranberry! Definitely worth a visit! If you happen to visit when the small building adjacent ( a mini museum) is open, there is a nice panoramic display of the history of the growing and harvesting of cranberries...so informative! I am a local but I am always sure to bring my visitors here from out of town- it is that good! Definitely visit if you are in the area! read more

Last fall, one of the things we most regretted missing out on was a cranberry bog experience. Thankfully, I remembered that things booked up fast last year, and I jumped at the first opportunity I found to get a reservation for this year. Their website features lots of cranberry related activities. We decided to do the traditional fall bog tour and education event, and were delighted to find out that they offer a free pass to military members and their dependents. It's so nice to see businesses supporting their local military! When we arrived, we noticed that the place was packed. There were four full sized school busses, and the A-frame outside said the tour was full, as well as the future tours were also already full! What a relief we felt that we had booked our tours already! Inside the farmhouse was a ton of fun stuff to get into. They had educational material about cranberries, local snacks, artisan items like soaps, and bread/ice cream/sandwiches. We waited to check in, and then waited for the busses to load us in for our trek. On the bus, we had two people from the business side of the farm, talk us through the specifics of cranberry life. We learned so much even before we arrived to the bogs. Once at the bogs, we were separated into groups, and each had our own bog to run around. I was fascinated by the sand growing, and the flooding only being during harvest. We learned that AD Makepeace also is the world's largest cranberry grower and has the world's largest cranberry bog- something like 74 acres! Once back to the farm building, we got our hands on some chocolate chip cranberry ice cream which was AMAZING, and were given a goodie bag of craisins to try. We also purchased two pounds of fresh cranberries for home that I can't wait to cook with. Overall a really fun fall experience, and was well worth the time and effort to get there. Annually they have 3 cranberry bhog tour. For the last 2 years I was trying to get in. But tickets were sold out. Finally I made it this year. It is a 2 hour tour in which first 90 minutes will be about cranberry growing, harvest etc. You will be able to interact with real farmers during this time. You will be shown the different stages of wet harvesting. Once cranberry is ripe, it is loosened from the plant using a machine, then the bhog is filled with water, cranberry is concentrated in a big circle and vaccumed into a machine. It was very informative. During the last 30 minutes, you can dry harvest cranberry and take a bag home. I harvested a bag of 9 lbs cranberry. They have a comb sort of an equipment to do the harvest. Dry harvest is work, but not too hard. Throughout the tour the farmers and the guide was very courteous and polite. There is a small store attached to the farm. They have good sandwiches, ice creams, baked goods etc. I went for the Cranberry Walnut Chicken on Cranberry bread. It was excellent. Especially the cranberry bread was very good. I also went for cranberry apple crisp. It was very sour from cranberry. Cranberry ice cream covered with dark chocolate was excellent as well. Dark chocolate coating was thick. Seems like the ice cream was hand dipped to do the chocolate coating. read more

What a great find!! We stopped in for lunch based on the positive reviews and I'm so glad we did. The location is off the beaten path which made for a quiet and relaxing lunch outside. The owner was lovely and made our lunches herself. She even threw in two cookies for us since she felt bad our puppy wasn't allowed inside. The food was fresh and delicious! We took the cranberry bog wet harvest tour last week. Coming from Hawaii, I knew very little about how cranberries are grown. My friends and I found this tour to be very interesting. It was about 1.5-2 hours long. We gathered at their gift shop/ cafe and then 2 busses took us deep into the 2,000 + acre property. On the bus ride they tell you all about how cranberries are grown. You get off at a cranberry bog and watch the workers harvest the cranberries. Then, on the bus ride back, they drive you past Ocean Spray. Back at the store you can dress up in rubber overalls and take a picture in front of a cranberry bog scene. I wish I could have gotten into an abog! Overall, I thought this was a fun activity on our New England tour. :) read more

Authentic NE activity for the fall. Perfect daytrip during good weather. I particularly recommend the cranberry tour. Although the yearly harvest festival probably offers a lot more, go to the cranberry tour on another Saturday. The crowds will be less and you'll get the intimate feel for this blessed little super fruit. It's given by none other than the director of operations (35yrs experience). We got to walk directly onto a bog (that hadn't yet been harvested) then saw the harvesting operation a couple of bogs over. Awesome stuff. Upon return, check out the Makepeace bakery. My daughter split the Thanksgiving sandwich because she loves stuffing however does not love turkey, mayo or whole wheat bread and even she was like "This is the best sandwich i've ever had." We shared a salad too and loved the fresh roasted chicken and homemade croutons. Everything we had was 5 stars delicious. Went on the AD Makepeace cranberry bog tour today! (Can we just start off by saying, how cool is the name?! It is actually Make-Peace..Lol) without reservation, I had a BLAST! Drove 2.5 hour from CT to get there. Pretty easy directions. Simple tour, but very fascinating. When you come to meetup up for the tour, you will wait at the Makepeace store. I did not realize it, but important to note that the two (tour and store) are not completely connected. Yes, they are owned by the same company, but not ran by the same management. Ok, so you walk around the store which is not very big, but cute. You can also come early or stay late to get sandwiches, bakery foods, ice cream, and drinks. There are fresh cranberries to buy, books, soaps, syrups, honey, candy, and candles. Prices are very reasonable. Feedback on the store staff is that they were friendly. However, it seemed a bit overwhelming for them when multitudes of people were coming in all at once trying to ask about food AND where do you wait for the tour. This is not their fault as they are ONLY there for the store. Moving forward, It would be helpful to the store and people waiting for the store if there were a large sign posted explaining how to assemble and wait for the tour or an designated area for those waiting for the tour without disturbing the flow of the store. (Just a thought) The tour is on a school bus. The buses were very clean! Although not the most comfortable, I am plus-size female and still felt it was acceptable for the price of $18. Plus, it is probably the easiest way to transport a large group (three bus loads) of people around the bogs. This place is the LARGEST set of bogs in the world!!! (Yes, that is a actual fact). They cover approximately 14,000 acres. We were able to be taken to two different bog sights, and on the tour while driving saw several more. The first site we got off the bus and were able to stand right at the bog and get info on how cranberries are harvested. Even got to eat and taste one right off the vine (not sure if we were actually suppose to, but most were). The fields were ripe, red, and gorgeous. The second site we were able to see men working and gathering the cranberries in a bog that had been flooded earlier that day. SO cool!! Just like you see on TV. The company sells directly to Ocean spray, so we got to see a truckload of cranberries come straight off the bog and carted off directly to the ocean spray company 2 mile down the road. I enjoyed the info given by the "tour guides" who actually were some of the workers themselves! I was fortunate to be on the bus with one of the top managers who was extremely knowledgeable and open to any and every question people had. Overall, I had a wonderful experience! The day was beautiful. It was not only worth the drive, but worth the $18 bucks! It is not a fancy tour, but it is fun thing to do as a day day trip. Shout-out to Kim who organizes the tours. I have been to the store several times in the last few years and have been amazed with the quality of the items being sold as well as the staff. This is probably the most authentic store in all of Wareham for having the charm and consistency of an old Wareham store. Everything on sale is wonderfully local from the coffee to even the fresh vegetables. It is definitely unique and there is never enough time to spend there. I love that it's placement in the town makes it secluded, but I must say that I would also be pleased to see it somewhere doing bigger business.
