Got there a little earlier than our reservation but were seated immediately. Our server Jake was a nice young man and did a great job over all. Our cocktails came out quickly which is always nice. We had a lovely plate of beef carpaccio that had some kind of dressed greens on top for our appetizer. A great combination and very tasty. I opted for another appy for my dinner as I was not very hungry. I had a plate of 6 scallops with a small lightly dressed spring mix salad and then dots of balsamic glaze on each of the scallops. I really enjoyed it. He opted for stuffed veal braciola with pasta. It did not come with pasta but they easily made what he really wanted with a lovely Marsala sauce all over the top. Really yummy!!! The restaurant isn't really noisy or loud like many restaurants we have dined at which makes for a very pleasant night. Thank you to the entire staff at Strega. We will be back for sure. read more

The atmosphere was 5*, but that's all that was. Our waiter was very pleasant, but based on his performance, he had less than two weeks experience as a waiter, and had received almost no training. The list of mistakes could go on for many paragraphs, so I'll concentrate on the food. The wine list had a "Zinfandel Blend". I asked what was in the blend. According to our waiter, no one who worked there could answer this question. If you charge $70 for a bottle of wine, you could at least know something about it. I started with a Caesar Salad with "Served with our homemade Caesar dressing.". It must have been homemade because supermarket dressing is much better. The dressing was thin and tasteless. True Caesar dressing has anchovies. Many restaurants will add some anchovy paste instead of real anchovies to at least provide some anchovy flavor. This dressing had nothing. There was some small amount of cheese, but nowhere enough. If you are wanting anything more than some romaine lettuce with tasteless white dressing, avoid this menu item. I'll give it 2*s only because the romaine was fresh. When we noticed other tables with bread when we had none, we asked for some. After the waiter delivered bread to another table who arrived after us, we finally got ours. The bread was good. For my main coarse, I had the Bracioletina di Vitello. The consistency was good, but it had almost no taste. I give it 3*s. Three of us ordered the same veal dish. Two of us got potatoes with our dish, my wife did not. For desert, I had the Key Lime Pie. I have spent a great deal of time in the Florida Keys and I know what good Key Lime Pie tastes like. Again, good consistency, but almost no taste. There was so little lime flavor, you could hardly tell it was supposed to be a Key Lime Pie. I give it 2*s for not tasting bad. Even after we had finished our desert and were leaving the table, there were empty main course dishes in the table including a large bowl of mussel shells. The bill for four people (1 bottle of wine, 4 apps, 4 mains, 2 desserts) came to $292 before tax and tip. At half the price, I could have been more forgiving with my review. I booked reservations for 3 via Resy, the app I was directed to from Cafe Strega's website. We had 5:00 reservations the Saturday before Easter. There were open tables throughout our meal. SERVICE: Ashley was a wonderful server. She is friendly, attentive and knows the menu well. She checked on us and ensured we had everything we needed. BAR: Cosmo was excellent. $13, generous size and excellent taste. There are many wine choices and reasonable prices. FOOD: Meatball app is excellent. 2 huge meatballs made with quality meat and super flavorful, as is the sauce it is served in. The salmon special was good, a teeny bit on the dry side. Others had the carbonara and ravioli and commented they were outstanding, so I'll probably stick with the pasta dishes for future visits. ATMOSPHERE: Warm feel with a view of the water. We even saw a bride outside during her photo shoot! Music of the right genre and volume added to the comfortable ambiance. When I booked, there was a question if we were celebrating a specific occasion, which we were. However, that was not recognized by Cafe Strega. I thought maybe a candle would be stuck in the dessert we ordered, but nope. Yes, I could have said something, but at the time it just seemed petty to bring up after the dessert was delivered. So my guidance would be if it is a special occasion, mention it to the host and or server to ensure it is recognized. read more

We decided to try Cafe Strega after reading online reviews, plus it was very close to our hotel. We made a reservation & arrived early, but the hostess assured us that was fine. We had nice views from our table. My husband had the Penne Alla Boscaiola & I had the Penne Alla Siciliana. Both were very flavorful & hot. My husband had a special cocktail & I had Chardonnay. Mollie was our server & she was very attentive & efficient. No dessert, but my husband raved about his cup of Decaf. We would gladly come again on our next getaway to Plymouth. read more

Soooo we were sitting at a local bar on Plymouth Harbor and asked a local where was a good place to eat and Scott told us about Cafe Strega and boy was he right ! We made a reservation, but on a cold Thursday night we didn't need one. Our waitress Ashley was super nice , professional and recommended dishes that we loved ! What an amazing place to eat at! The bartender, lovely young woman, was so positive cheerful and knew her drinks top to bottom. This became a regular place for my family and friends during a wedding weekend and every time we went it was top notch. Their drinks are quite large and expertly made and their food is stunningly good. Can't recommend the Milanese high enough (pro tip add some Marsala sauce too, you're welcome) as it was the best my wife and I ever had. Their meatballs are also phenomenal and they make delicious cannolis. This is definitely a must visit if you go to Plymouth! read more

Was seated at 8:30. Was immediately told that the kitchen closes at 8:45, which was great because we were in somewhat of a hurry. We had our order ready to go. We then waited until about 8:50 (the restaurant was dead) until the server returned for our order. We were then told that all the food will have to come out at the same time. We then waited about 30 minutes. We finally caught our server and asked for an update. She said our food was sitting in the window. We then waited another 10 minutes before our meals came out. We were literally a minute away from just walking out and settling up for drinks, when the food appeared. The salad was so salty, I'm 99% convinced it was intentional. It was completely inedible. The rest of the meal was fine (the pork was drastically overcooked). To rush people from the minute they walk in and prepare them to be rushed during their meal, only to make us wait 45 minutes without bread, a starter dish, anything is just rude. It was very, very, disappointing. If you don't want to sit diners 30 minutes before close, then don't. I live nearby to this place. Was hoping it could become a regular for us. Celebrating an important milestone birthday was a flop at Strega. We'd eaten here before with good results but last night was not good. Trying the chicken parmigiana for the first time was a mistake. The first iteration was rubbery like carnival food and the replacement version revealed the real culprit---deep fat frying. The result was something from a cafeteria and many steps down from previous experiences. The service was wonderful but we won't be coming back until we hear they've moved forward with a real chef. Bread and olive oil, antipasto for 4 fed the 3 of us- soppressata, artichoke hearts marinated, provolone a couple of other items, it was ok. The clams vongole ordered at our table reportedly good and on the small side of a portion. Puttanesca was a disappointment. I've had better and I've had worse, overly salty with too many olives and capers dominating the dish covering a bland tomato sauce. The spaghetti served w it is a large size, could have worked w a thinner size. Veal saltimbocca reportedly good. Would I come back again, possibly. Service was efficient. This is our second time dining at Cafe Strega and both times were superb. Its the North End in Plymouth. I absolutely love their red sauce! Last night we went to celebrate my birthday. There were 4 of us and we were all loving our plates! I had the chicken parm. Large plate. The chicken is ao tender and not overdone! The cheese is incredible. They use the best ingredients and it shows. We also had Penne alla siciliana (eggplant), Spaghetti al Fruiti Di Mare (shrimp only) and Pollo Saltimbocca. Everyone raved! I had driven past this place for several years before I ever stopped in, and I regret not going in sooner! They have the cutest dining room with great views of the water and park area. Service was fast, wine was outstanding, and the prices were very fair. Definitely recommend a bottle of Pinot Noir paired with any of their pasta dishes - and don't forget to try the oil with red pepper flakes on your bread! Before the covid crisis, this was one of our favorite spots to finish off the night when taking a day trip out of the city. We've had food there before and it's pretty good, but nothing too different from other Italian dining establishments. I have been going to Café Strega since I was young. When you think of a restaurant where you feel like home, I think of Café Strega. For the longest time, this has been our venue for every celebration. Not only is it is an amazing restaurant, but we have so much history and memories built in. It is a place that every single one of my family members and friends love going to. When we show up, we are always taken care of. The restaurant manager, Zura-we consider family. For example, recently my family lost our grandfather who was the heart of our family. When Zura and the gang found this out, they knew we had come in right after the services and they took very good care of us, sending their condolences and also sending over a limoncello to our table. This is your classic, Italian style restaurant that just feels like home. It is right on Main Street in downtown Plymouth and is settled right above Brewster Gardens, so you have that beautiful view when you sit down. Strega has two levels. The top level is where the restaurant and bar area is where the second level Is where the bathrooms are and a space to rent out for events. The second level has an outdoor patio as well. Anything that you get to eat here will be delicious, they also always have specials that are in rotation that are delicious as well. They have a great selection of meat, seafood, and pasta dishes as well as delicious salads and appetizers. Their bartenders are phenomenal and they are known for their classic martini and espresso martini. If you can go on a night when Caryn is working, You will not be disappointed. She makes one mean martini. You will not be disappointed. The pours are generous and the olives are delicious. This restaurant, of course because it is fine dining tends to be on the pricier side, but it is well worth every dime. You can find street parking, or park in the lot right across from the restaurant. Typically Café Strega will open around 4 o'clock and it is definitely recommended to make a reservation. This is the kind of place where, no matter what mood you are in - you will leave happier and way more full! So many places in Plymouth I had never been to Cafe Strega. I was in the mood for Italian food and also wanted to try someplace new. Why did I wait so many years? The staff were very friendly cordial and helpful. Nice atmosphere and view of the park and harbor from my table. The food was very good. I started with a bruschetta which was one of the best I have had. The tomatoes and basil were very fresh and flavorful. My entree was the Spaghetti Ai Frutti Di Mare. The sauce was good but the seafood was amazing. I wasn't a big fan of the Almond Tiramisu but still, it was tiramisu. Im looking forward to next time to dig deeper into the menu. read more

I asked for a Ceasar but was told they had no romaine(on Friday in august?) I chose CARPACCIO and was served something that appeared to be sliced roast beef medium rare...clearly not CARPACCIO. For an entre I ordered ZUPPA DI CROSTACCEI $26.95. 3 clams, 3 shrimp, 8 muscles and 2 scallops REALLY?? and the crostassei was toasted table bread. Has to be one of the best Italian restaurants in the area! My wife and I had dinner there a couple nights ago. Service was outstanding, the drink selection was beyond what we expected, and the food was absolutely incredible! From the fresh baked bread, to the hand tossed salad through the main course. I haven't had the better Italian dinner anywhere in New England. I had spaghetti carbonara as good as anything that I had in Italy and my wife had the chicken marsala and it was mouth watering! We did have the tiramisu for dessert it was the only thing that I was a little disappointed with that's why I'm giving this restaurant four stars and not five. Overall it was a wonderful experience the food was outstanding , if you haven't tried this Rock of Italian food in Plymouth you should definitely give it a try! read more

No silverware, no plates, no cheese, never checked up on, it was like it was a burden for the waitress to even acknowledge our table. Went here for a romantic Valentine's Day date. We did not get it. In a textbook example of choosing capitalism over romanticism, Cafe Strega added so many tables for this special night that our waitress had a difficult time squeezing between our table and our neighbor's table. In fact, in trying to do so, on three different occasions, she placed her rear end directly next to my date's face and stepped on my foot. I was having a bad night and this restaurant completely turned everything around for me. Starting with the Hostess who was engaging, funny and very invested in making sure we got a seat. We had a reservation but we arrived 45 minutes early. The atmosphere is quaint and comfortable. There is a pleasant chatter in the restaurant from everyone having a nice time, but it is not so loud that you can't hear everyone at your table. The staff is unsurpassed. I hear the owners are somewhat related to the owners of Strega in Boston's North End on Hanover Street. Just got curbside pickup of the essentials at Cafe Strega: Chicken Parm, Bolognese (make sure to order w/ homemade fusilli pasta) and a Carbonara for a family of 3 to share. Portions did not disappoint and what a combo of deliciousness. I promise all 3 dishes are 5-star gold and this was a pickup order during Covid. I can imagine getting it piping hot at the table. Definitely delicious. A little pricey so definitely can't make this place a regular but it's so worth it when you go. Super nice staff and a really intimate setting. This is a kids stay @ home kind of place. No...seriously. Kind of felt a little uncomfortable @ how close the tables were & in such a small space. This was our 2nd trip to cafe Strega. We decided to give the place one more try after being ignored for ten minutes and walking out the first time. We were seated Promptly and served drinks in a timely manner and the view was great. It went downhill from there. We ordered zucchini blossoms for an appetizer having had them in Rome and loving them. It took 20 minutes to come and was obviously frozen food and was still cold inside. We sent it back. My husband had a chicken dish that came without the prosciutto it was supposed to include. I asked for my ribeye to be cooked medium rare and it was well-done. Both of our vegetables were obviously frozen. It was so disappointing. It's like whoever runs this restaurant has completely given up. Too bad, the location is awesome. read more
