When we arrived they were a bit crowded, but found us a table. The hostess and the server were as kind as can be. The ambience was also warm and festive for a Saturday night... especially to kickoff a week of vacation. Our meals also hit the spot. I had the chicken piccata which smelled and tasted delicious. Usually we love our food.. went for lunch.. I ordered the fig, prosciutto, goat cheese arugula pizza. It was good about a 7 out of 10. The crust was not a traditional pizza dough.. not exactly sure what it was. It was very white in color and very firm. He ordered half meatball and Caesar salad. He gave it a 7 as well. The fettuccini, alfredo sauce was tasteless and very watery. Out of four of us, three of us had to send back our Alfredo dishes, the manager removed all three from our bill. The manager was young very nice! We explained to her the issues with the fetuccini Alfredo sauce. She gladly removed all 3 dishes from our plate and was very accombading. No worries, no problems, no attitude, she was a true professional! I made sure she knew that aswell, and how much I appreciated what she did for us. My grandson had the sirloin tips dish and the meat was very flavorable he loved it! Now! I'm not saying the other foods aren't good because I didn't get a chance to experience it. We drove 45 minutes to were heard was a fantastic Italian restaurant. this Was a disappointing first visit. myself and a friend went for an early dinner. It was not busy. I ordered a dinner size chicken Marcella, and my friend dinner size veal parmesan. When they came out, mine was a lunch favorite size which is half. Friend did receive the dinner size. I'm sort of glad. The homemade linguine. was excellent it had barely tablespoons of Marcella sauce with approximately five tiny mushrooms was mediocre. One piece of chicken that comes with LF was chewy on the edges. My friend tried a few bites of her Parmesan and was overcome by the amount of salt in it. She tried to eat it But couldn't. The waitress was kind enough to let her order something else. Which was baked fish to definitely avoid the amount of salt their food. All in all, it was a disappointing trip. We will not give it a second try. The only good thing was that they made a mistake in my order and gave me the lunch favorite size. Less to waste food by throwing away They did apologize to my friend and took her meal off the bill. Which is nice but did not make up for the digestive distress. read more

Magnificent. I had the crab bisque special and it was the perfect mix f savory and cream and shellfish. So good! I then had the mussels without tomatoes and it was again perfect. Came for dinner after seeing a few reviews as we were driving home WHAT A GEM! Talia served us and totally made our night. She had great energy and phenomenal recommendations. The Chicken Parm is by far the best I've ever had. The noodles were homemade and the red sauce amazing. My Mom and Sister also loved their meals. To end we had the lava cake which came out steaming! My husband and I dined at Carmela's yesterday afternoon and sat at the bar. There were two girls sitting to the right of us that obviously had too much to drink and were taking louder and louder and using profanity. Towards the end of our meal I turned to them and asked them to talk more quietly and stop using profanity. The girl to my right said they had been there three hours and that if I didn't like it I should F'ing move. She kept ranting and swearing.. I turned my back to her and didn't say anything else as I was a little afraid for my safety. The bartender never intervened but they knew there was a problem.As we were leaving she turned to my 85 year old husband and said" You can't even walk". They were served three drinks while we were there and said they had been there for three hours. As we left the restaurant the manager approached me and apologized. He said they didn't intervene because they didn't want to escalate the situation . I said they were obviously intoxicated and they should have been shut off. The restaurant should have been more pro-active and should not have continued to serve them. Im very disappointed in the way Carmela's handled this. read more

I went to Carmela's on a Tuesday around 6 PM because they offer dollar oysters on Monday and Tuesday nights from 4 - 9 pm. I sat at the bar and noticed nobody had oysters. I asked if they have dollar oysters and the bartender said they ran out. I ended up getting an appetizer and a few non-alcoholic beers for $35 with tip. This bait and switch likely happens often. I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for their sign promoting dollar oyster nights. Food and service was fine, but they should have enough oysters to satisfy demand and treat the promotion as a loss leader instead of a bait and switch. read more

I would like to say the food here was pretty good, unfortunately the service was so bad I had to give it 3 stars. We went on a Friday evening. It was busy so we sat at the bar. We were ignored for ten minutes while the bartender chatted up with her regulars. My husband finally asked the bartender if we could please have a menu, she was put off because she was texting. We were able to get dinner and on my second glass of wine, it was poured into my 1st glass that had 1/4 left ... was not given a proper pour, but charged for it. Last night, I revisited Carmela's for the first time since the restaurant was rebuilt. What a delightful experience! We were seated in the lounge dining area, which I was initially concerned about, because I didn't want the environment to be loud. On the contrary, though. It was a wonderfully calm, dining experience. We began with the Arancini. Hot, crispy, and moist in the center, it was dressed with a beautiful red sauce. Our dinner entrées included a bountiful chicken Parmesan over linguine. I took half of my portion home to enjoy for lunch today. The other Entrée was veal Saltimboca over Carmela's house made fettuccine. The meat was so tender, the sauce was so lush, and the pasta on both plates was cooked beautifully. Our server, Lori, left us wanting for nothing. When we declined a peek at the dessert menus, she suggested taking a piece of red velvet cake home to enjoy later on. No need to twist our arm, we did so and enjoyed every crumb! Carmela's is conveniently located just off the highway in Kingston. Plenty of parking just out front, and each staff member we encountered was charming. Dinner was spectacular, and we look forward to seeing them again soon. read more

We waited almost an hour for water alone. we had to ask the busboy for bread and water and never received plates for the bread. There was one waitress taking care of the whole room. While three bartenders sat around doing nothing accept playing on their phones and talking with each other. It was horrible! The meals were small portions and mediocre at best. I would not recommend the Carmela's sample dish, it was an absolute disappointment - mostly pasta, micro portions of the 'sample' - meatball, stuffed pepper, and eggplant. This dish is better suited as a kid's meal. Certainly not worth the $$ spent for this meal. read more

Went back for lunch today and our server Laurie/Lori? Was the best, checked on us consistently but not so much that it interrupted our conversation or meal, great server! I had the veal picatta and Ma had the chicken parmesan, once again it was delicious and a lot of food so much that I've also got dinner for tonight!! I didn't save room for dessert again but one day I will. My parking complaint from earlier review is just me being dumb, I used the other exit today and it was very safe during rush hour. Lisa and I were at Carmela's restaurant this past Wednesday, 5/1. I LOVE the carbonara dish that is, WAS, on the menu. Yes, I was disappointed that it had been removed from the updated spring menu. Diane was working the bar and she said, 'let me see what I can do'. She came back in a few minutes and said I was all set! The dish came out, without peas, but with scallops, and delicious! The food is good but pedestrian. The Breaded Eggplant was mediocre. I love eggplant and order it at each new Italian restaurant I visit in order to gauge the quality level of the kitchen. So happy with the dinner and service here last night. I called and made a reservation the day before, and when we arrived we were promptly seated. Our server was so friendly and nice. We ordered the creamsicle and espresso martinis, and arincini to start which were delicious - and the marinara sauce with cheese was really good as well. One of my favorite Italian dishes is chicken picatta - and it was delicious here! It comes with your choice of pasta - and I went with the homemade spaghetti (very close to angel hair consistency - nice and light) with it which was also really good. The portion of food was really big - and I ended up taking half of it home. This was my first time here - and will absolutely be back again when in the area! read more

Dropped in with my mother last week (weekday) in the late afternoon for a late lunch / early dinner. While the place was remarkably busy for the time, we were able to be seated right away in the bar area. The food was fantastic. We got the tried-and-true dishes like Veal Parm and the Chicken Alfredo which were both prepared perfectly. The Calamari with peppers before our meal were crispy, fresh, and delicious - definitely worth a try. Overall, portion sizes were large, but not overwhelming, and the flavors were spot on. Cocktails were wonderful and we shared a seasonal (winter) drink called the 'Brown Butter Burbon Old Fashioned' after our meals for a sweet ending. We both agreed it was one of the most unique beverages we've ever had and to spoke to the bartender to compliment her our way out. While not at full 'Boston South' prices, I found the bill at the end of our experience to be reasonable for what we were served. We cannot say enough about this restaurant. We had a fundraiser for my brother who has incurable liver cancer and ordered large trays of food from Camela's for the event. I called the restaurant a few times to add food items and was always greeted by a pleasant person on the phone who took my changes with such professionalism. It didn't matter how many times I called them. I have eaten at this restaurant and also ordered for events in the past but never for 150+ people like this one. They did not let me down.
