Hi. North Jerseyan here. Longtime Yelper. I hereby offer my wholehearted endorsement of Rod & Rail…read moreto anyone visiting or living in / near Cape Cod. Ambiance: Local bar. Not divey, but you walk in and you're basically at the bar. There's bar seating, a few tables on the side, a few in the back. People were eating and drinking wherever. Service: Prompt, friendly. The bartender was the owner, chatting with a local about working where he lives and drinking while he works. But very friendly and open to visitors here. And no overwhelming Boston accent. If you're not local, you'll do fine. Food: OK, I was here on an impulse search for dessert. They happened to have fresh homemade donut holes to go, so I got some cinnamon dusted. And by dusted, I mean WHOA NELLY that's a lot! And the donut holes were also huge. And they came with warm caramel dipping sauce. I couldn't put it down. While I was waiting (again, didn't take long, they were just shaking the topping on in the back), I looked over and saw bar pies that honestly? To this North Jerseyan? Looked like good tasty pizza. In Massachusetts. You have been warned. If you stay on Route 25 to bypass Bourne on your way to or from the bridges, you're not just adding mileage to your car to save a little time. You're missing out on the best place in a country mile.

Singo was fun and I liked that they adjusted their usual time to finish before the Patriots season opener. Service was not great. We sat for 10 minutes before the server realized we were her table, and then she said she'd be over in a few minutes. So it was 15+ minutes before we even got drinks. It was also difficult to get everything we wanted such as drink refills because the server walked away so quickly every time she came to the table.

We first wandered in on a cold, rainy afternoon and were immediately charmed by the cozy atmosphere. The service was warm and welcoming, and everywhere we looked, steaming plates of comfort food were making their way to happy diners. The cod Reuben with sweet potato fries was outstanding, and the clam chowder was exceptional. In fact, after trying chowder at six different places during our trip, my husband and I both agreed this was our favorite by far. The shepherd's pie looked incredible as it passed our table, but we'll have to save that for next time. The only real downside is the limited parking, but it's a small trade-off for such a wonderful spot. If you're in the area, don't miss this hidden gem!

We chose this restaurant largely because of its 4.5-star rating, even passing up a few waterfront…read morerestaurants with beautiful views but slightly lower ratings. Unfortunately, we left pretty confused about where the 4.5 stars are coming from. We were seated quickly, and the staff was genuinely very nice and welcoming. We had a booth, although it was oddly high and uncomfortable for me at 5'3" because my feet could barely reach the ledge. Service was pleasant, but after we ordered, no one really checked in on us. Our table tried quite a bit: the Reuben, classic New England cod, another cod and clam dish, clam chowder, and a pretzel. The clam chowder was probably the highlight. It had good flavor, although I would have loved more actual clams. The wine was mediocre. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was about a 5/10 for us. Nothing was terrible, but most of it was surprisingly bland and just not memorable. My cod and clam dish was especially disappointing. It came with four very large clams, but one was completely closed and should never have made it onto the plate. The cod, potatoes, and other ingredients were sitting in a pool of cream sauce, yet somehow the dish still tasted underseasoned. It felt more like something I could have steamed and put together myself at home for a simple, healthy weeknight dinner rather than something I'd be excited to order at a restaurant. Maybe we caught the kitchen on an off day, because the consistently high ratings made us expect much more. We specifically chose this place based on those reviews instead of going somewhere with a view and slightly lower ratings. In the end, we got neither the view nor particularly good food, which was disappointing. The kind staff and clam chowder were the bright spots, but based on our meal, I personally wouldn't rate the overall experience anywhere near 4.5 stars.

I attached a few photos from our dinner last night because the presentation and portion sizes deserve to be seen! The first dish is the Spicy Asian Beef & Broccoli, which was bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. The second and third photos are of the Cape Cod Reuben--seriously, just look at the size of that piece of fish! It was massive, flaky, perfectly cooked, and incredibly delicious. The fourth photo is the Native Honey Scallops, made with large sea scallops--not the tiny bay scallops--and they were tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor.
