I was in the area and decided to grab lunch at a place I'd never tried before. Being a foodie, I love trying new out-of-the-way places. Towne Square Restaurant proved to be a great spot! Located downtown, it looks surprisingly small when you first walk in. After being pleasantly created by Kendra, I checked out the menu and order the Hot Meatloaf Dinner and a cup of their Italian Wedding Soup. The portions were perfect and everything was tasty. I purposely didn't read the reviews because I wanted to decide myself. I overheard some other customers saying the food was good and the service was great. They were absolutely right. What a treasure! Just what I was looking for... a down home, home cooked American fare with good food, fair prices and great service. This is NOT a $15 burger place with artisan bread and kale soup. This is a place to get " stick to your ribs" home style American fare like fresh soups, grilled sandwiches, a good cup of coffee and all served by a pleasant wait person. I had the clam chowder and the patty melt which was served with chips and a pickle. Chowder was excellent, patty melt was very tasty. It's also nice to see honest fair prices for a change. Generous cup of chowder for $2.59, refillable brewed iced tea only $1.99 and the sandwich with chips $4.25. Server was very friendly and quick. Have you ever felt like you were eating on the inside of a Norman Rockwell painting... Well at the Towne Square you will feel like you stepped back into 1950. Beaver is a very upscale city with lot's of new upscale eateries, but Towne Square keeps it traditional. Really good food in a Family atmosphere with amazingly low prices. There are daily specials on a board when you walk in. The fare is American classics and they do all of them very well. Breakfast is rock solid with all the classics you would expect and the lunch and dinner menu has some very hearty and delicious choices as well. Overall the food is really good, service can be a tad slow at times but I use this extra time to sit and reflect back on a simpler America. I was skeptical when I saw the guy making toast without gloves. Okay that's fine but when he started to touch food on plates before they where sent to tables kind of worried me. My experience wasn't great I ordered two BLT's and home fries to go. Home fries where not cooked all the way through and the bread was toasted to hard to eat. Visited with my brother and Dad while in town visiting family in town. Very simple menu but the food was delicious. I enjoyed a sausage, mushroom and Swiss omelette with home fried potatoes and toast. My dad had the bacon, mushroom and Swiss omelette. Lastly, my brother had a mushroom and Swiss omelette. I called the Town Square Restaurant, to order items for a luncheon at my sister's home. The croissant sandwiches we chose were stacked quite high with meats, cheese and veggies. They were very fresh and tasty, and everyone enjoyed them. The potato salad and cole slaw were also excellent. Along Beaver's really quaint and happening business district lies a placid American diner that I imagine has been around for more years than I've been alive, and we discovered it totally by chance. When we walked in, we heard a jolly cook loudly belt out bread-and-butter anthems of classic rock radio. From REO Speedwagon to Elton John, this cat knew them all. Two elderly regulars munched on sandwiches while they chatted up the bashful, pretty young waitress, the white walls acting as a backdrop for a scene that could have been depicted by Norm Rockwell. I hadn't had a steak salad in a good while, so that's what I ended up ordering. Aside from the marginally tough, albeit tasty steak chunks, this was a truly satisfying lunchtime feast. All the standard veggies were there in all their crisp, freshly-picked glory. The shredded cheddar decorated the plate. Hardboiled eggs coalesced with flawlessly golden french fries and a splendid house Ranch dressing. They make their own pies but were nearly out of them, so to Witch Flavor we went for ice cream. The eggs were cooked perfectly (although not very hot, they must have been sitting while waiting for the home fries to cook). I am picky about coffee and theirs is very good. The service was also very good. The only improvement I'd recommend is the home fries. These are simply sliced potatoes fried in butter. I like mine with onions and peppers and more spice.
