I have been all over these united states and have learned one axiom; do not judge a restaurant by its appearance. As has been the case in so many other experiences, sometimes the best food you have ever had comes from a diner attached to a gas station in the middle of nowhere. My wife and I were on our way to Star Lake for a concert and stopped in before for dinner. The interior screams home cooking but the menu was surprisingly complex and varied. I orderd the shrimp po'boy (an off menu special) and my wife the liver and onions. Both were phenomenal meals. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but once you step inside you will be blown away! We were greeted promptly and told that we could select where we wanted to sit. Our waitress was friendly and attentive throughout our time there. The menu had tons of options to choose from. I went with the country fried steak with tater tots, 2 eggs and toast. The portions were huge and everything tasted delicious. I highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

Took almost an hour to get a turkey club and BLT. Bread was barely toasted. There was one waitress covering the entire dining area. This used to be a nice local restaurant, but the quality has really done a down hill slide in the last year. read more

We stopped here because it came highly recommended as we were traveling through the area. My husband had the rigatoni with fries and I had cheese ravioli with a side salad. Of course I had to confiscate some of his fries for my Yelp review. Everything was absolutely delicious. The staff was amazing and the cook even came out to talk with us since it wasn't busy. What a great business. We're definitely going to have to make it back there. It's out in the middle of nowhere but if you're going through, it's worth the stop. read more

In the past this was a go to but recently the food is slow and staff doesn't seem to care. It's like they take their customers for granted.

Very nice place, seemed recently renovated. There were four of us. I had the western omelet which came with toast. Very large omelet and very good and perfectly cooked. The other meals & opinions were: Lobster pot - thought there wasn't that many langostinos for the price but tasted good. Came with 2 sides. Isn't actually served in a pot either :( Taco salad - large portion, lots of nachos in it. Very good. Think the last meal was salisbury steak or something. Our friend liked it but was still disappointed because it looked like a hamburger with gravy on it Service was slow and the waitress wasn't very friendly. The only saving grace was the gentleman who served us the food. He was personable, always had a smile on his face. read more

I give this place a 4+ on its food, portions, taste and presentation. The fried fish is in the top 3 of my local faves. The fries are yummy and crunchy, the BLT delish. The star of the show for me personally is the coleslaw. I'm picky about this particular dish because if it's too sweet, it's ruined. Jacks coleslaw is just right and you get a decent helping to boot. So far all of the staff there have been awesome. Oh and the spaghetti and garlic bread was soooo good. Before you leave for $2 you get a nice dish of ice cream and it's just yum! I just moved to the location recently and I have actually been to this location at least 7 times already. Each time has been for breakfast because it's really my favorite meal to eat out. My review thus far will be based on breakfast only at this time. Atmosphere: The look and feel of the restaurant is clean, odorless, and country-like. It's recently been remodeled I believe so that may be the reason. It's a relatively small establishment but the seating isn't too crowded so that's a plus. The waiters/waitress's seem friendly and are always there to top off your beverages. Food: Wait times for breakfast have never been an issue for any of my visits. Our food is almost always out within 15-20 minutes and during busy visits that's a pretty amazing time. Everything I've tasted so far has been great. It's nothing with any crazy gourmet taste however, everything on their menu fits for the area it's in. The portions are quite large so thankfully if you don't eat much you can order halves. A lot of people I visit with love the sausage gravy over biscuits. My favorite is the meat-lovers omelette. The sausage gravy and 4 biscuits is only $3 and quite honestly, I think they should raise some of their prices. Suggestions: I do think that a few items should have their prices increased for business purpose but if its working for them then have at it! I don't think anyone else will complain. The waiters/waitress's could be a little more chatty and smile more but it may just be the small town personalities. No one has ever been rude, but sometimes a little "hi, how're you" goes a long way compared to "how many are in your party." Keep up the great work! The food was good. It wasn't outstanding. Nice little diner. Service was slow and when I paid for lunch I found they charge a fee if you use a debit card. That is the first time I have seen that. Debit cards do not cost the business One cent for processing them. I will not be going back there!! read more

Nice place inside country and all The waitress we had had only been working there for a month and was very forgetful non stop having to remind her for things we ordered really a shame the manager and hostess were amazing !!!!! Anyways I order chicken Parmesan and I came with a side I ordered the side salad the salad was really nice and fresh the chicken Parmesan on the other hand I was not really impressed with it was a chicken patty instead of chicken breast and had a slight hint of being sweet or cinnamon and it wasn't really too turned on by that at all anyways I'd like to try this place again and see how it is with their other meals my friend goes there a good amount and says it is pretty good read more

Most of the time the food & service are very good. Husband & I have gone there a lot over the last few years. There's only been a couple of minor issues- not worth mentioning. I'd Recommend to anyone who wants a good meal @ reasonable prices. read more

I just want to point out how gross it is to see someone with their bare hands (not with gloves) playing with eggs that look like they are being prepared to serve to people. This is very disturbing and makes me wonder what people in the restaurant business really pay attention to.. Smh read more

Great little small town diner. Had breakfast here twice and it was fantastic both times. Service is very attentive. Never had to ask for a refill on my coffee and they brought plenty of creamer before I could even ask. Food was delicious. I had an omelet with toast both times, and the omelet is half the size of the plate. Toast was thick and well buttered. Delicious! Very warm and friendly atmosphere. Such a lovely place! It has that totally country feel. The service is known for being super slow. But who cares. It was Sunday and I had no place to be. I actually didn't eat here. I had that the time already been in the USA for 3 weeks and gain considerable amounts of blubber during this time... so I opted to skip breakfast for a change. I had a coffee while everyone I was with ordered this enormous 8 dollar breakfast. When I say this breakfast is large, i'm not kidding. The plate is the size of an elephant head. This was a gem to find on Route 30. Newly remodeled a year ago, western feel. The large decorative support beams are from barns in the area. The food, portions and prices are great. I had an egg white western omelet... delicious. The South Side special is what my husband had with scrambled eggs, home fries, wheat toast and ham.. he loved it. I haven't been in this place in nearly 20 years. The current owners are doing a good job. The place looks very nice. When you walk in you could forget that you are in Hookstown. Everything seems pretty clean and fresh. Portions are good and prices are great. Food was good too! We'll definitely be back. My one and only gripe is it was pretty slow when we came in at lunch time. Maybe it was just an off day. read more

Jack's Diner was a welcoming experience. We came here after horrible service (our food was never served after 1 hr) at Two Smart Cookies in East Liverpool. The staff here is extremely friendly and outgoing! They heard about our bad experience and got food out to our party quickly to to help alleviate the hanger the atmosphere is relaxing. We ordered the hot sausage sandwich, loaded French fries, and country fried steak and the triple meat omelet(5 egg and three meats - $6). all the entrées were delicious and the portions generous. We highly recommend based on food and service! prices are really reasonable as well. I did order the cheesecake, plain, and it was excellent! read more

Wasn't impressed. Ordered food and 50 minutes later my wife and I are still sitting no food yet. Server said they had big parties and only saw biggest table being 6 people. Coffee was endless and always topped off. Ordered omelet and was too salty and small portion. 5 egg omelette should have been enormous, but wasnt impressed. The pancakes were nice size and very good and filling. Server never came over and asked if everything was alright and just dropped the check off. Jack's Diner..... Where do I start? Locally owned, lots of recognizable faces. Friendly, family style restaurant. Also, it is an old fashioned gas station where they scurry out and fill your tank up. When I set out that morning, finding myself in Georgetown PA was furthest from my mind. About 11 am I rolled into town starving. The first thing you see is a diner attached to a gas station so my plan was to pop in, use the restroom and keep driving. Inside seemed to be a nice, homey restaurant. For a Sunday in between the breakfast shift and lunch it was about half full. Since I was travelling solo I figured I'd sit at the counter, eat and get back on the road. Usually sitting at the counter gets your food sooner. Not this time. My simple fare of two eggs, hash browns and toast took close to thirty minutes and by this time I was about ready to start grabbing food off of plates as they came out of the kitchen. But the staff couldn't have been nicer and it is surely a family operation. A woman who might have been the manager/owner apologized and offered me a piece of french toast for my trouble. Glad I stopped. If I ever find myself in this neck of the woods again I'll definitely stop. read more

New Year's Day--too pooped to cook dinner, so, we decided to take a ride to Jack's--and we made the best choice! We've been here once before for lunch and it was delicious--but today was even more wonderful! We had their New Year's dinner buffet and it was DELICIOUS!!! Good home cooking--fluffy mashed potatoes, sauerkraut and roasted pork-shredded and not an ounce of fat in it!!! Great scalloped potatoes, and a mixed vegetable. Cranberry sauce and baked pineapple, which was through the roof awesome! Never had it before but wow what a dish! Cornbread and dinner rolls...and wait--DESSERT (your choice!) as well!!! All this wholesome home made goodness for a great price! The restaurant is cute and very neat and clean. The waitress, Tammy, was wonderful and the chef and cooks went out of their way to make sure our food was hot. We were stuffed and satisfied when we rolled (!) out of the diner!!! Breakfast for the boys! My son and I were in the area and stumbled across this place. We were caught off guard because it sits in a Citgo station but it was tremendous. My son had the pancakes and only managed one. They were huge! I had eggs, sausage and home fries. Great choice. They offered add ins for the potatoes like onion, peppers, and cheese. Excellent. Portions are extremely large and the prices and really low. If we are back this way we will certain come again! read more

Visited with wife first time on 3/6/17. Ordered the liver and onions as this is my litmus test for family style restaurants. I was NOT a bit disappointed. Ample size portion with tons of onions,and delicious! Wife ordered the fish dinner, yes the fish is that large! She was totally satisfied (took half home)! Service was very friendly and efficient. We've been to Jack's several times in the past and the service have been mediocre at best, but this past Sunday takes the cake! My husband a I arrived around 1130am for a late breakfast. The gentleman who seated us asked what we wanted to drink and never brought them. A waitress finally came over to ask if we had been taken care of. Needless to say, no . We gave our order, my husband was having the breakfast buffet and I ordered a veggie omelet. About 15-20 mins later I had not received my breakfast. We asked the waitress how much longer and she stated "well it's lunch time and to go orders are coming in, I'll have them bump your order up." My omelet order had never been started!?!??! After that we told them to cancel the order, we were leaving! We weren't offered a discount or anything! I cannot believe that to go orders have more precedence than customers in house! We won't be back there for quite a long time! read more
