We're heading to Ashland, but we stopped in Beaverton for a quick lunch. As we're driving around for a parking spot, I saw something on the window, 'chicken'. I thought we'd go there for some to-go, and hubby found a parking spot, just around the corner, in the shade. As he was turning right, I also spotted a 'bakery' written on the window. I was thinking of waiting for him, in the car, and just grab a chicken sandwich. But, after he left, I decided to go inside the bakery to browse. He was standing at the corner, reading the menu of the shop, when I called him to 'Come over here!' I didn't know what I just walked in. Ooddles & oodles of cookies, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, like a one-stop bakery, cafe to-go. I started to take a video, of the whole shop, but sadly, as I turned it off, I realized I was just turning it ON! Instead of buying one sandwich for each of us, we ended up buying 4 of our 'look scrumptious' pastries that could fill us up. (Photos are not good quality, because I thought I was video-taping it. That's the result!) We each shared everything! We both agreed, it was probably one of the best lunches we've eaten. The pastry were still warm, the cheese in our ham was melting in your mouth. The spinach was just out of the oven. Everything was just wonderful! We will surely stop by here again, and buy twice as much, should last us a week. We will drive 30 minutes one way to come here but after the experience today Sunday February 22nd at 5:00 I think we'll try to find another bakery. My family came in needing to buy slices of cake we were ready to purchase and a line was forming and we were the first in line yet the workers were just standing in the back behind the cakes chatting. No one paid ANYONE in line any attention. We usually have such amazing service, quick, attentive, helpful. But maybe at the end of the day they don't look towards the door or maybe the tea was just too good to stop chatting about. I was able to peruse the pastry selections in peace but it was late afternoon so the pastry displays weren't fully stocked. How I heard of this place: While visiting the area, staying at a local Air BnB, we found ourselves drawn to Tous Les Jours after a grocery shopping visit to neighboring Trader Joe's. Type of cuisine: Freshly baked pastries, in savory and sweet varieties in self-serve displays. Glorious cloud cakes and other party (or individual servings!) offerings, including a beautiful selection of macarons can be found in the refrigerated section near the check-out counter. A selection of traditional and novel espresso beverages, as well as non-caffeinated or tea options for those who prefer. Ambiance: Bright and expansive, the space is full of light from floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the parking area. Seating is abundant, as it seemed most patrons took their goodies to-go. The self-serve at this spot was reminiscent of fresh bakeries in Japan, where patrons help themselves to parchment lined trays and tongs, which they use to make their way through the covered displays in search of baked goods they wish to purchase. Upon making your selections, and piling up your trays, make your way to the cashier to check out. There, you may also order your beverages as your treats are boxed up and packed for you. They have upped their game "biggly", compared to another similar rival bakery (who shall remain anonymous). This is a great bakery that is from Korea originally and has a unique French and Korean fusion style... That being said the top pic that went viral years back maybe 2018 or 19 was the Korean garlic bread which I absolutely love and it's very tasty. We stopped in about 30 minutes after opening and the place was fairly empty of patrons. Like the other Korean French bakeries around (85c and Paris Baguette) you take a tray and tongs and select what you want from the case, and checkout up front. You can either have them package the food for you or dine in; we dined in and got a bag for the leftover pieces. The food itself is very much French inspired with puff pastry and croissants; there are a few with Asian fillings like Yuzu and Sausage and Cheese. I don't think they actually make much on site but do more baking from frozen and final fillings/decorations.. everything didn't taste Fresh baked but more frozen baked. Will I go back.. maybe in a pinch for a croissant but I won't ever consider myself a repeat or regular customer. In my pursuit to try all of the croissants in town, I came to Tous Les Jours to try their ham & cheese croissant. I knew this was more of a fusion bakery so didn't expect anything too fancy. I was very disappointed by their croissant though. It was filled with the ultra processed American cheese that gave it a gummy texture and the croissant was just ok - not too flaky. It was also much smaller than the other bakeries for over $4. I couldn't even finish it because of the texture and flavor. The hot dog bun was much better and had a creamy cheesy/mayo sauce and the sausage was pretty good.
