This is a classic, old-school pizza spot that offers takeout only. The pizza itself is definitely above average--great crust and decent flavor--but the options are pretty limited. They only offer one size and stick to the standard types, so don't expect anything adventurous here. The owner mentioned they're looking to sell, which might explain why the place feels a bit stuck in time. While it's a solid choice for the area, I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. If you're nearby and craving some straightforward pizza, it's worth a try.

#1 on the Food Network for pizza? Not sure why. Got there around 2 pm on a Saturday. It's a little bit from Coney Island and parking is horrible. Found a spot about 3 blocks away. Walked in and asked to order some slices to go, was told by what I would call a miserable older woman that said "we don't sell slices". Website says other. Ok, drove an hour to try their pizza so I order their pepperoni and mushroom pie, was told that's extra - I say ok. Pie is small, maybe 12 inches. Crust is thin and cooked perfectly - but that's about it. $36 for a pie I could get at my local place for half the price - was not impressed. Lacked in taste and toppings were sparse for the price I paid.

Totonno's is the home of the first Neapolitan pizza maker in New York City. Very old school. No seating. Takeout or delivery only.

My bf and I won the Joey special (2 pizzas!) at a FRIENDS-themed event in my hometown, and got Totonno's pizzas delivered all the way to CA. So this review is only based on the taste and quality of the food. The pepperoni pizza wasn't too heavy on the cheese, and it balanced nicely with the sweet tomato sauce and tasty slices of pepperoni. Even the crust had good flavor, a noticeable difference compared to other pizzerias. It was so good, we devoured an entire Large pie in less than 15 minutes, barely talking to each other cuz we were too busy stuffing our faces :D It's not the best pizza I've ever had (there's just way too much competition), but it was still pretty damn good.

I don't know what happened to this place... maybe the pizza chef changed. 60 dollars for 2 pies and they are tiny, you can eat a slice in 3 bites.....doesn't even taste close the original totonno's

A classic slice! They are still hanging in after all these years, and according to the family, the Post article got them over 200 inquiries about buying the place to carry on. It's more of a pizza aficionado destination than a tourist spot, because not everybody is in the know. And that's a good thing, imho. They've pared down a lot, no indoor tables anymore, only open 12-5, and only on weekends. This is NY pizza history here, and everyone should make the trip out at least once. Years ago, I met a guy who said he regularly drives out from Long Island to get a pie. The thing that makes this a great slice is the dough and the sauce. Anybody can put cheese. The sauce is perfect, not too sweet, you can taste tomato paste but no aftertaste, just the right amount of salt or seasoning, not bland, very well balanced, there's not too much going on here and that works perfectly. I also think that toppings would overwhelm this, other than the fresh basil. The dough is something else. I seriously examined this dough to see what it is great about it. It has a bit of spring to it, and looking at a cross section of the crust like some sort of pizza geologist, I see a lot of tiny air holes in the dough, not no holes like some, or a bunch of larger air holes like the more bready slices, this is Goldilocks just right. Something is going on here in the magic of the yeast proof, or maybe it's love for the simple and good that comes out in the pie. And if course they know how to use their oven, so it's done correct, and slightly crispy on the bottom, folds well, etc. The walls showcase a bunch of history: old newspaper clippings, pix of the original pizza guy Mr. Totonno in front of the original Lombardi's as a kid, family pix of the descendants at various times of their lives, celebrities, etc. The guy pointed out each of his personal favorite pix once he saw me looking. I noticed what looks like the original embossed tin tiles, either ceiling tile or backsplash, covering the walls, painted over, of course. Some other notables on the wall: The Ramones came all the way out from Rock rock Rockaway Beach for this slice! Guiliani in his heyday, Bloomburg, some actors... There are old school shop windows that frame the door in a style that is maybe a century old, and it makes you wonder what this part of Coney Island was like when it was a small Italian enclave. A really nice trip, and an even better slice. Perfect day. Go eat some pizza here while you still can. Our NYC classics won't be around forever. Important!: Tip jar is behind the partition, don't forget! It's understated because they aren't shoving a tip sign in your face and begging for tips like many of the new restaurants, but these people deserve it. Ask the lady if you don't see it.

In love with the pizza at Totonno's! A pie of red and a pie of white is where it is at and that is the play. Being around for many years, Totonno's has not lost a step in the pizza game. The service is not that of a fine dining establishment but is perfect for what Totonno's is and has always been. The ambiance is that of a small pizzeria that has been around for many years in the same location. It is not the reason why you come here but is good enough for you to sit at a table and enjoy the pizza. I especially love how the pizza has both a great chew and crunch to it. The white pie is garlicky and I love it! Just go and get both pies, you can't go wrong.

Totonno's Pizzeria Napolitana is a New York-style pizzeria that opened in Brooklyn, New York in 1924. It was founded by Italian immigrant Antonio "Totonno" Pero. After arriving in New York City in 1903, Pero began working at Gennaro Lombardi's grocery store in Manhattan's Little Italy. Lombardi and Pero began making tomato pies wrapped in paper and tied with string and sold them to hungry factory workers. In 1905, Lombardi received the first mercantile license to operate as a pizzeria restaurant. Pero worked as Lombardi's first pizzaiolo. The pizzeria soon had clientele that included the famous Italian tenor Enrico Caruso. After 20 years, Pero left Lombardi's and opened his own pizzeria in Coney Island. Pero trained his son Gennaro "Jerry" to make pizza. Jerry took over the business after his father became ill. He would continue to makes pies at Totonno's until he passed away in 1994. Today the establishment is run by Totonno's grandchildren Louise "Cookie" Cimineri, Frank Balzano and Antoinette "Annette" Balzano. Michael Gammone serves as their long-time pizzaiolo. My wife and I visited Totonno's for the first time in July 2019. We took a trip out to Coney Island for the day. We arrived at Totonno's when they opened for lunch, but an employee came out with a frantic look on her face. She informed us that there was a problem with the coal-fired oven and that they were going to need to delay opening time. Instead we got lunch at another Coney Island establishment: Nathan's Famous. Later in the day, we called Totonno's and they informed us that they had finally opened. We went back for an early dinner. They continued to have problems with the oven (which was causing pies to cook much slower) but we didn't mind the wait. We decided to order the Pizza Margherita and the Pizza Bianca (Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Garlic and Olive Oil). The pizza was excellent! The sauce on the Margherita was perfect and the crust on both pies was nice and crisp! Cookie came out and apologized to all of the customers for the long wait. We told her that the pizza was well worth it. We'll definitely be stopping back there on our next visit to Coney Island!

It's back. To go only, one size only but lord have mercy are these pies the elite. We went there on Saturday, got the pies in a flash and chowed down in my double parked car.

Best Pizza in NYC in my opinion. They have a lot of recognition and I can see why. All ingredients are super fresh, the dough has so much flavor too and is really good. I don't usually eat the crusts and I ate them here. And the bottom of the pizza was not soggy! Even on the pepperoni slice. I love crispy crust, they do it right. Also the tomato sauce is a bit sweet but not too much. Delicious. Long wait though. About an hour to sit down and an hour for the pizza. Also if there is a wait you have to wait outside so glad it was a beautiful day! We had a group of 5. They only have one oven and do to go orders too so it takes a long time. And we were starving. Also if you order more than one pie they bring it out one at a time, also the tables couldn't really hold more than one pie anyway. They sell beer and wine in bottles the size of a glass. Pretty cheap at 5 dollars. You cant really get a glass of wine for 5 dollars in NYC.

I did read the reviews before I went, so I knew to expect a long wait outside, however I was not expecting the wait for food for a party of 2 to be close to 90 minutes!! We only waited about 15 minutes at about 5:20 pm on a Saturday afternoon, which was great compared to what others had experienced. I was surprised to learn that they ran out of dough for a small pie and we had to order a large pie, although couldn't they make smaller pies from the large pieces of dough??? I was wondering what was the cause for the extremely long wait with no explanation: they were pumping out to-go orders and not prioritizing the people who actually are sitting down waiting at the tables. Not only is this extremely rude, but it also creates a long wait for those waiting outside in the hot intense sun with no definite wait time. When the pizza finally came, it was hot, but it wasn't the best that I've ever had. The crust was burnt and by the time it came - well after 7pm (they close at 7:30) - I didn't have an appetite anymore to eat it. I would suggest that the establishment focus more on the tables and less on pick up orders, as well as have a sign telling people outside that/where they should wait. As I was waiting for the food, I noticed people walking into the restaurant perplexed that they had to wait outside since there was no sign indicating that they had to wait. Feeling that hot breeze from the door opening continuously with confused patrons definitely was not a highlight of the experience. I am a huge pizza lover, but I do not think I will return.

Ask the Community - Totonno's

It's April 2022. Does anyone know if Totonno's is open for indoor dining again? We miss them!

They don't seem to be open at all. I drive by every day.

Have they reopened yet? I noticed the hours are posted back on Yelp and Google but the yet to drive by and see them open.

They have not opened at all since the pandemic (as of June 2022). Nor updated customers on when they will. It appears they want to sellout and pivot to possibly delivering frozen pies nationwide instead of the Brooklyn pizza we know and love.

Are they open?? Everytime I drive by they are closed. Such a sad sight.

Yes! They just posted on Facebook. They'll be open on Saturdays and Sunday's for takeout if you use Grubhub, Uber Eats, or the Slice App!

Can you buy pizza by the slice here or do you have to buy the whole pie?

Whole pie only

Is Totonno's open? It's been closed now for the last few days... any info would be appreciated, thanks!

No it is not open i live in the area drive or walk pass everyday

Why are they closed today(Thursday)?

They are currently only open Friday through Sunday.

How long can I expect the wait to be for two on a Saturday 4:30/5pm? No idea if this is a wait on line for an hour type of place or what.

20 mins? You'll probably get seated before that, if there is even a wait. It's popular but sorta out of the way and has been around forever- not like a new hype or anything. So my guess there'd be sporadic waits around the busiest hours only because…

Do they sell by the slice or pie?

They sell pizza by the pie only and that's not a bad thing once you try it you will eat the whole pie

L'Industrie Pizzeria is a highly celebrated, contemporary slice shop located in the Williamsburg…read moreneighborhood of Brooklyn. Founded in 2017 by Massimo Laveglia, a native of Pistoia in Tuscany, it successfully bridges the gap between classic New York City slice shop culture and traditional Italian artisan craftsmanship. The pizzeria has transitioned from a neighborhood hidden gem into a massive viral sensation, earning the prestigious title of Pizza Today's 2026 Pizzeria of the Year. They open at 12:00, and in anticipation of a long line like we witnessed on our pizza day #1, we showed up at 11:15, and no one was there. (The workers were bustling inside, but no customers lining up yet.) We walked around the neighborhood, which was quiet with gorgeous weather - sunny, 60's, and breezy, - with Spanish banter between neighbors, and a few leaves blowing around. We got back at 11:30 and there were three people in line, then us, and 15 minutes later, it was around the block. The doors open, you order, pay, and wait for your name to be called. Then you go to pizza heaven. This was some of the best pizza we ever had! (It is right up there with Uncle Rico's Pizza in Fort Myers, who always comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the national competition.) We got four slices - New Yorker - A bold, meaty combination of savory pepperoni and spicy sausage, balanced by the creamy richness of ricotta and the tangy sweetness of the tomato sauce. The crisp, lightly charred crust provides a satisfying crunch beneath the generous, gooey layer of cheese and toppings. L'Industrie - The salty, delicate prosciutto di Parma contrasts beautifully with the cool, buttery creaminess of the burrata, creating a rich yet refined balance of flavors. The thin, crisp crust provides a delicate crunch that offsets the silky cheese and tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth prosciutto. Pork Pepperoni - A classic, deeply savory slice with rich tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, and pepperoni delivering a concentrated pork flavor with a pleasantly salty, spiced finish. The pepperoni adds a slightly crisp, oily bite against the stretchy cheese and thin, crisp-bottomed crust. Spicy Salami - The soppressata brings a robust, peppery heat and a rich, cured-meat savoriness, while the mozzarella softens the spice and the Parmigiano adds a sharp, nutty depth. Fresh basil lends an aromatic lift, contrasting with the crisp crust and the slightly chewy, oily salami. For the pizza geeks - L'Industrie first cold ferments the dough for 72 hours. Instead of using a single commercial flour, they blend seven to eight different flours. This hybrid mix combines premium Italian imported Caputo "00" flour for tenderness and extensibility, mixed with high-protein American bread flour (like King Arthur) and local whole wheat flours for texture, strength, and flavor depth. They use live wild yeast for a complex, slightly nutty flavor profile and visual micro-blistering that you don't get from standard commercial yeast. After a long, cold cure in the refrigerator, the dough is brought to room temperature, and shaped carefully by hand. In pure Italian fashion, the sauce is incredibly simple and completely uncooked before hitting the pie. It is made strictly from Bianco DiNapoli Whole Peeled Tomatoes. These organic California-grown heritage tomatoes are highly prized by top chefs for their natural sweetness and low acidity. There is just a bit of sea salt to brighten the tomato flavor. L'Industrie does not use dried oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, sugar, or heavy spices in their base sauce. They allow the natural, bright sweetness of the crushed tomato to cut through the rich fats of the cheese and toppings. The shop relies on restraint and high-caliber, locally sourced or imported ingredients. They utilize high-quality, low-moisture mozzarella shredded in-house, but they apply it with extreme restraint. This prevents the slice from becoming greasy or weighed down, maintaining a pristine ratio of dough, sauce, and cheese.

The crust still had enough structure and chew, and the burrata added richness without overwhelming everything else. I also had a regular slice with sausage and mushrooms, and the balance was basically perfect. Exactly the right cheese-to-sauce ratio, toppings that tasted fresh instead of piled on for the sake of it, and just the right amount of char. And the crust might have been my favorite part. We ordered a glass of wine, a beer, an arugula salad, and our main food order. Everything started out fine, and the salad came without a problem. But then we waited. And waited. About 30 minutes after we had ordered, I asked our waiter where our food was. He apologized and admitted that he had forgotten to put the order in. By that point, we had already watched other tables receive their food, including people who had arrived well after us. We continued waiting, and after roughly 40 minutes or more, our food still had not arrived. At that point, the dining experience was already ruined and we decided to leave. Ironically, just as we were getting ready to go, the food finally started coming out. I told them we no longer wanted it. The waiter did apologize again and offered us a pizza to take with us, which I assume was complimentary, but by then we were simply ready to leave. Even paying the bill became unnecessarily drawn out. We were charged the full amount for the salad, beer, and wine. I sat with a $50 bill ready to pay, was handed the check, and then ended up standing around for another five minutes waiting for someone to actually take the money. There was no apology from the person handling the payment. I understand that mistakes happen, and I appreciated that our waiter admitted he had forgotten to place the order. But when a restaurant makes that kind of mistake, the recovery matters. After waiting that long, watching later-arriving customers get served, and then having difficulty simply paying and leaving, an apology and a pizza at the very end didn't really fix the experience. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I can't say the service lived up to the restaurant's reputation.

I've eaten here, come to the Bushwick Block Party to see Action Bronson perform, and spent enough time around Tiki Disco to associate the place with a particularly inventive, free-spirited period in the neighborhood. The dining area still has that wonderfully idiosyncratic character: exposed beams, communal tables, mismatched details, and an open kitchen turning out genuinely excellent pizza. What impresses me most is how naturally Roberta's became more than a restaurant. Food, music, parties, outdoor spaces, and an extraordinary mix of people all seemed to converge here, giving the place a cultural gravity that could never have been designed by committee. It remains one of those places that instantly takes me back to my bachelor years and an especially fun chapter of my time in the city, when Bushwick felt endlessly creative, and Roberta's seemed to sit comfortably at its center. Sending my highest recommendation!

Great Neapolitan, soft and chewy pizza with unique toppings - there's something for everyone! My favorite was between the Fyre and Ice and Ursula's Parade - but all were delicious. There's plenty of seating - inside, atrium, and bar. The atrium was nice and cool - dog-friendly as well!

So, eating at this restaurant before the Bruce Springsteen concert, the other night was a thrill. Ate with lifelong friends. We shared several appetizers, including meatballs, a margarita, pizza, bake clams, and spicy shrimp. All were delicious. I had a seafood pasta with squid ink that was memorable. Lots of seafood and the pasta was fantastic! Nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price. Good service. Frankly, I think the prices were cheaper than what I pay in Austin area, and the food and venue were authentic and much better than in Texas!

Not sure what the menu currently says, but the menu from just 3 months ago said it's 18% for a party under 6. Maybe they've changed it. Not sure. This is the first restaurant we've been to with 20% auto gratuity for a party under 6. But the borderline dishonest part is that the check that you sign tells you in tiny letters that tip was already added, but has huge font for additional tip and written out tip calculations, so it is very easy to tip 40% without noticing. Sometimes I do tip extra generously, but I don't want to feel like I was tricked into doing it! Looking thru reviews here, I see other people also experienced this, including people in small parties who were locked into the 20% when it should have definitely been 18%. :/ So close to a good experience, but ruined by tricksy billing.
