I have been here for over 16 years, but this place has gotten sketchy and dishonest. I picked up my glasses today and noticed immediately the frameless lens was not polished as I ordered. Showed to the lady, and she went to the back to consult with someone, returned to checked the computer, and proceed to tell me I will have to pay extra to have it sent back out as I didn't order the high-edge polish. Told her that can't be correct, as one side was polished, and I am certain I have paid for it. She looked again and said oh you are right. I told her I will be out of the country for about 1.5 months. She went to the back to consult with someone again, and returned to tell me, "FOR YOU", we are going to make an exception to our 30 days policy to fix it FOR YOU. It made it sound like the Foothill Optometric Group is doing ME a big favour for their mistake. I live far from this location. Coming to this location on 4 separate occasions taking a full hour each time to drive there is extremely inconvenient. They did not offer any compensation, instead, try to scam me to pay extra to fix their mistake. My entire family and friends will not be returning in the future to do our annual exams or business given this sketchy and dishonest experience. read more

Their appointment booking system is awful. I had to visit 2 days back to back because of their mistake. Also 2nd time they asked me to come back next day again which was not acceptable. I raised my voice then they somehow squeezed me in but their attitude was very rude. read more

Awful!! Do Not Use! The Doctors may actually be useful, but the problem is you will have a hard time finding out. Their appointment scheduling system is AWFUL! You will spend months going back and forth to get an appointment. After months of going back and forth, I finally got my appointment scheduled. I showed up this morning with my email confirmation of my appointment, and initially, the person at the desk says sorry that email is just telling you requested that date and says she can see if she can fit me in tomorrow!!! The email's title was " Your next eye appointment has been scheduled' - it seems pretty clear to me. I stand my ground, and suddenly she says, oh, wait, your appointment is in your old system - let me see if I can fit you in. She quickly comes back and says sorry; we can't "fit" you in today! You don't fit someone in when they ALREADY have an appointment - your mistake; you should be fixing it. I ask to talk to the manager before I take my business elsewhere - suddenly, she says, let me check if I can fit you in?? So the other person was lying when they said there was NO way they could fit me in? Total joke! ZERO customer service skills. My family will all be taking their business elsewhere, and I suggest you do too! read more

Really helpful people here and good prices. ALICIA helped us today , she explained everything to us super clear, with the insurance, prices, etc. Thanks Alicia!! read more

Dr. Staples explained things about eyes in a relatable way. Christine is attentive to your eyeglass needs, makes great suggestions, and patient. Nice selection of glasses read more

If i can only give NO stars i would! The Dr's are amazing! However, the STAFF SUCKS! Talk about rude and not helpful at all, they once started gossiping about a patient in the hallway; the patient overheard them and said.. "I suggest you talk about me when I leave, not while I am in the office" Palm to face folks! A particular employee named Brittney is very rude and disrespectful. Does she know how to do her job or not? She needs more customer service training! read more

I've been a long time patient. Love Dr. Staples for her through exams and down to earth explanations. Staff is great and knowledgeable with respects to understanding and explaining your insurance coverage. Excellent selection of frames. Overall, very happy with setting up appointments, service and selection. read more

I love this place! I enjoy coming to get my eye exams. The staff is knowledgeable and the doctors are always in a good mood and happy to help with any questions I have. I have always had a great experience here. read more

Woke up on Christmas Eve with something in my eye. Didnt expect Foothill Opt to be open but took a chance and called. They saved my holiday from being terrible. I saw Dr Wang at 1045 who found I had an abrasion band on my eye most likely caused by a foreign object in my eye. He gave me some eyedrops to soothe the discomfort. I've always depended on Foothill Opt for the care of my eyes. Today, on Christmas Eve, they didnt disappoint ! I did feel bad for the staff that did work but am happy they did. They're always a step up from other optometric offices and I appreciate them for it. read more

I like the doctor, Andrew Yang, he knows what he's doing and treats patient pretty well - thorough eye exam and detailed explanation. I have been a patient of this group more than 8 years, but staffs... they need some training. Staffs are not cooperative, made me wonder what they are really focusing on. Just sending the prescription to the third party took days and "dozen" phone calls - had to call back and forth more than 10 times?!? One person said I need to send my signature back to them, the other person said I don't need my signature to release the prescription.. just CONFUSING! And then, I found out that they sent the wrong prescription to the other store, so had to call them again! They were not helpful at all - just wasting my whole day because of their lack of concentration to their own work. Quite frustrated! read more

Probably the best experience I have had in an optometry office. Provider was very thorough and explained everything so well and the tech that assisted with my frame selection was amazing. So appreciate the personal touch and friendliness of all the staff. read more

Dr. Chen is amazing! Friendly, thorough and knowledgeable. I highly recommend! The appointment process was also super easy and they were able to schedule me at a time that was very convenient for me. Staff was also very friendly and easy to deal with. read more

I've been going here for years but steadily growing frustration and just a negative overall experience for the past 3 (3 years worth of) visits has driven me to decide to change. Now. I would say that the doctors are professional and knowledgable though not particularly engaging: they seemed focused (as perhaps all doctors are these days) on "getting through this appointment so I can get to the next". But the big problem I've finally put words to is the constant nagging sense that the visit and encounter with them is all about money. I have felt like I'm viewed as a 'mark" to be 'hustled' the moment I've walked in the door. The only group that was friendly and accommodating appeared to be the folks in the frames area. Then you discover why: their frames are terrifically and holisitically overpriced. They push add-ons to the frames and lenses to increase the price. Youve got to push for frames that were previous year's versions, and you walk out of the office feeling slimy somehow. read more

My husband and I have been patients for years...even at the old location...and we absolutely love them! Dr. Longacre is so amazing. She's warm, personable, and super thorough. She clearly and concisely explains every procedure as she does it. She doesn't make suggestions or push extra tests to jack up the price of your visit; she really cares about the health of your eyes and on developing a long-term eye-care relationship with her patients. I especially love the fact that they hook you up w/ free disposable contacts until your order comes in - which you can either pick up or have delivered to your front door. Very awesome & convenient. They also have a great frame selection (Jimmy Choo doesn't just make shoes). This husband and wife optometrist duo truly run their business with excellent professionalism & great integrity. Their technicians and other staff reflect the awesome management. I had an old pair of Dior frames that my daughter broke and I called to see if they'd be able to repair them. I dropped them off an they tried and & even contacted a specialized vendor to give me repair options. When it was all said and done, they didn't charge for the time & hassle. Great service! We'll be patients for years to come! read more

Dr. Liu was great and he solved my problem. I have a vitreous detachment on the inferior side (bottom) of my eyeball caused by me doing handstands lately. As I get older, stuff get easier to detach and stiffer including my eyeball. Glad to find out I'm fine and just need a little time to heal. read more

Five stars all day. Wait...I had to take one star for the month it took to get my glasses repaired (I was told three to five days). Oh...and minus another star for the month it's taking to get my contacts. I was told it would take about a week...LAST month. Still waiting. The office is awesome and they do great work but there's obviously some type of clerical issues that need to be worked out. Plus a star for making sure everything was taken care of in the end. read more

I have less than stellar service here. I used them for several years, and Dr. Staples was great. I had no issues with the selection (they had cute frames) or fitting of my glasses. My problems always came at the front desk. They were often confused, and I don't quite know why...because there was plenty of staff available. My insurance has forced me to move on...which is not an entirely bad thing. read more

Last year I came here for my eye exam, and didn't enjoy the experience. I felt rushed and handed off to about 5 different people during the whole visit. The doctor was kind enough, but didn't seem very thorough. He also made me feel awful for wearing my contacts for longer than the prescribed time. He kept saying I was extremely lucky not to have an infection and blah blah blah. Fine, I know, but don't make me feel guilty and embarassed about it. When I told one of the last people assisting me during my appointment that, yes, I would be looking at glasses frames, she seemed disappointed. I wish I'd tried frames on by myself because I am slow at decisions, and also very picky. I felt bad for taking up the girl's time because she likely was tired after a busy day and wanted to go home. In the end, the frames I chose were okay, but I feel that I would have made a more pleasing selection had I been able to look at my own leisure. No one here was particularly rude; in fact, they seemed to be trying to stay pleasant through the hustle and bustle... I just felt like I was an inconvenience to them, and that they could all use a breather. Not an ideal situation for anyone, unfortunately. read more

Great place. Nice environment. I had a great doctor (Ed Lui) who explained things very well and was very knowledgeable. I felt that the exam was very thorough and complete. The girl who helped me select frames and explain the various lens options, etc. was very nice and not pushy. She explained things and didn't try to push unneeded options which I appreciate. UPDATE: Lowering 2 stars, down to 2. When I picked up my new glasses, the prescription was not correct. I clearly told the doctor I wanted computer distance glasses, not reading distance glasses. I explained this to a different doctor who took the glasses back to the lab and came out 5 minutes later with different lenses. And... those were not right either! One lenses was correct but the other was blurry. Wow. Pretty bad. I don't recommend this place. They did however give me a full refund and credit my insurance coverage as well. read more

The place nice well kept and fancy looking. The Doc was good .But service worse that anything. The person appointed to help me pick glasses and order contacts probablly wanted nothing to do with it and wanted me to g away. The sadest service i experience ..i ended up ordering because i needed contact and glasse ...and they call beback in a week saying its the wrong order ..they cannot do it ...imagine that i had to go again and experience the same person again ..torture really ...that too when i have to pay out of my pocket for such service . Had read some good reviews about it on yelp but ..didnt work for me . read more

I came here on the recommendation here from the oakley store in stoneridge mall. I have kaiser but their selection was less than stellar. I have always been a fan of my oakley sunglasses. I liked them so much I went ahead and popped the lenes out and had prescription ones made. I went to the oakley store and instantly favored their prescription frames over anything I seen at the kaiser store. The oakley store in the mall told me to go here and check out what they had in stock. After picking out what I wanted they had everything ordered for me. They have a lot of variety but they can basically order the entire oakley line if what you want its missing. They can do official oakely lenes from their lab since they are an official dealer. I might be back to redo my sunglasses. My sunglasses were done by a generic lab and the mirror coating rubbed off in a week. read more

I walked in to check out frames. There was one customer In there and three women at the counter. The whole time I was there no one greeted me, asked me if I needed help or said bye when I left! !! Seriosuly? ??!!!!!!! I work right across the way from this place, convenient or not, I will never give them my business. Back to my inconvenient eye doctor for that mere experience. And to the Asian dude that was in there....you are rude and oblivious. Do I really have to tell you excuse me to get out of my way you dumb ass??? read more

Thanks to Dr. Veronica Staples

My mother and I have gone to Dr. Staples for years and I just love her! She's very sweet and personable and she knows what she's doing and takes her time with each patient. I've never met Dr. Yang but his wife was my science teacher in middle school... random, my bad. It can take a while for some orders to come in, but that's not their fault. They're very good about contacting you when orders are in and things. read more

Every person I encountered at this office was great . All the ladies were happy and extremely helpful. The lady who I worked with in optics went above and beyond to help My kids find exactly what they wanted. Thank you to everyone at this great office. read more

My eye appt with Dr Yang was great as always. I went in to get my eyes checked for new glasses. The technician said the glasses would be ready in 2 weeks. Exactly 2 1/2 weeks later I received no calls from them and thus I gave them a call to check the status of my glasses. The person that answered the phone said "the lenses were bad" and "they would have to start from scratch". They said they would give me an update on Friday. I make sure to manage expectations for my customers and thus I expect the same in return. I would have given them a better rating if they just gave me a call to let me know there will be a delay from the original 2 weeks they told me. Instead I had to find out myself when I called. I wonder when I would have received an update from them if I didn't call them myself?...Very disappointing. read more

First time getting glasses and Foothill was very helpful. My doctor was Dr. Sjodahl. He was informative, laid back, understanding (first time I've had my eyes examined and you're gonna stick that thing up in my grill? EEK), and a cool guy. The service staff was good. The girl who was assigned to help me pick frames was a bit leading and not really following my gist (though, I didn't really need a person to help me pick frames) and the woman who ran my card seemed distant and vacant, but she got the job done and didn't give me evils. Overall, a really cool experience and one that made me feel okay about getting my eyes examined and having to get glasses, etc. My boyfriend also goes here and has had nothing but good experiences (despite some backordered frames or frame orders that were misinterpreted/messed up). read more

My husband and I have been going to Foothill Optometric for close to 20 years and we have received nothing but excellent service. We think of Dr Liu as a family friend after all these years. Without hesitation, we recommend Foothill Optometric anytime our friends ask. read more

This place is amazing. They go out of their way to make sure you receive the best service possible. I am dual covered in eye care through both my patents. FOG employees made sure I got the most optimal pricing for my contact and glasses. The doctor is friendly takes a moment to get to know you and always has something positive and informative to tell you about your eyes. You can tell they are passionate about what they do. I feel very happy and comfortable with my visits here. They made me feel empowered and confident about trying contacts, helping me overcome my fear of things in my eyes. They always seemed willing to make sure that I was taken care of to the best of their abilities. I also moved to SF 3 years ago, but I still travel out here for my appointments. read more

I have been a patient of Foothill Optometric Group for a few years now, and I am always so pleasantly surprised at how seamless of an experience it is. With virtually no wait time, friendly doctors who explain everything thoroughly, and the best technicians, I would go nowhere else. Dr.Staples comes from another planet: the one where eye doctors do not stop at the usual prescription but, actually, find a good solution for customers. Stuff is friendly and knowledgeable, there are so many people that waiting more than 10 mins in line, is basically impossible. Number of frames available is a tad limited, but their custom orders never take more than 2 or 3 business days. It is indeed pricey, but they explain options very clearly and worth any single penny. You can't possibly go wrong there. And... pay peanuts, you got monkeys, right? read more

Dr Yang is fantastic. I switched from my old eye doc because their waiting room was like a nursery school. There were always a ton of little kids hanging out there, maybe because it has the word "family" in the name of the optometric group? I liked my old optometrist, but Dr Yang seems more in-depth and knowledgeable and I feel like he genuinely enjoys what he does for a living. I never feel rushed during my time with him and he explains things very clearly. I'm just starting to get presbyopia - getting old sucks - and Dr Yang suggested we try bringing down the prescription for my contacts a bit so that I could see better up close. With the new Rx, I still see 20/20, but my close-up vision is a bit clearer. This is just temporary as my eyes will continue to get worse with age (so will yours, so shut up), but we have also discussed other options aside from reading aka granny-glasses. I think its great that he offered up all of these suggestions and is so open to accommodating what's left of my vanity. read more

I wish I would have done this a little sooner... not only did this business make things right with me they went out of their way to apologize multiple times and my little guy had so much fun he didnt want to leave.....lol They were very professional and kind. I found out that I was required to have a vision test for the school. When I called they were able to fit us in the next day. YAY!!. Then when I got home in my mailbox was a flashlight for my other child who was so distraught. Its so refreshing that they paid attention to why he was upset.. (the wonderful place of 5yrold minds) he was so thrilled and didnt put it down all afternoon. The next day at our appointment they were very thorough and we were in an out in 30 mins. I didnt catch the assistants name but she was very nice and patient and Dr Sjodahl is beyond awesome with kids. THANK YOU THANK YOU!! We will be back!!! read more
