Heads up! Months ago, and I mean months ago, I contracted a contractor to cut down two of my trees in my front yard. He was also contracted to grind the stumps. He told me that his stump grinder was being repaired and he would return. I have made numerous attempts to contact him because of his failure to honor his contract (hand shake). He will not return my calls. I even threatened legal action. I threatened to contact the better business bureau and to post to the neighborhood site unless he honored his contract. That has not happened. So I do plan on reporting him to the better business bureau, and I do plan on legal action. I realize I will spend more money than it's worth financially. Darryl did a great job on our live oak tree. He kept it natural looking while cleaning it up and raising the canopy. It clears my roof by 4-5' now and the driveway and alleyway is much higher. My neighbors came out and have asked Darryl to come and do their trees now. We're quite pleased and will have him return to do more work for us. read more

I called around a few tree services that were highly rated and for a single tree, this company had one of the most reasonable rates and impressive photos. Some companies wouldn't give me any clue of costs and others wouldn't accept a job under $200. I called midday yesterday from work and he saw my tree before I was home. My tree is probably about 30 or 40 foot tall and branches had dipped below 5 foot to the ground. There were many touching the roof after leafing out. Today (within 24 hrs of initial contact) my tree was trimmed and all refuse neatly stacked in alley for the city to haul off. I wish I could give this business a great review, but their business standard is subpar. They came out and (poorly) shaped the trees in our backyard, but did not trim the bottom. We are now in the process of re-landscaping our backyard and the project manager told me whoever trimmed our trees did a horrific job. I tried to reach out to the owner prior to leaving a bad review to make things right. He said he'd "swing by to look at it". He never showed up or took interest in finishing the job properly. Darryl Nest and his crew of two did a wonderful job. Darryl returns calls quickly and showed up on time. I had them initially prune some branches off a tree that were touching my roof. They worked quickly and did a bit extra work. They trimmed some branches by my dish antenna (too bad we don't even use it), cleared off dead branches off the tree, removed all the leaves and debris off my roof, and cleaned the gutters! Everything started out great with these guys. They gave me a great price on cutting down my tree and grinding the stump. They did it right away, but was told they would grind the stump on Monday. When Monday came around they never showed up to finish the job. I tried calling Darryl multiple times but he doesn't pick up now. I had to find another company to finish the job. I wish I could give more stars. The good: Quick response to my messages, and came out to remove my trees the next day. This was awesome. The guys that came out were very nice and did quick work. The bad: Didn't grind my stumps. I was told stumps would be grinded, but they weren't. On the day of tree removal, the guy said stumps are always grinded on Monday, and they would come back then. When they never showed up on Monday, I contacted them to come back and finish the job, I was promised "Thursday...Friday at the latest". That was three weeks ago. They never came back. Darryl, the owner, came by and said he could get my tree down in two hours. He gave me a price that was reasonable and the tree came down. I also wanted a stump removed that was in a tight spot. After several days of saying he would come and not showing up, he arrived without warning and used a grinder to get out part of the stump. He said he would be back the next day with a smaller grinder, but I never heard from him again. He at least could have called me and said he was not interested in doing my stump. Darryl is super responsive to my message. The price is below the average and no strings attached. I asked him to trim four trees in my front yard but I was not at home. He explained clearly about what and when he is going to do, educating me on the city compliance on the clearance. In the beginning, he said that he would come on one day. But there was rain, he let me know in advance that he cannot come but he would make it on the next day. He did what he promised and sent me the pictures after the work is done. HE NEVER FINISHED THE JOB AND REFUSED TO COMMUNICATE? I paid for expensive zoysia grass sod to be laid in my backyard. He laid what looked like a left over pallet from a previous job, but it wasn't enough to cover the space. After weeks of promises and excuses, he just disappeared and stopped returning my calls. Now I have big holes in my backyard where the sod should have been laid. He also cut down a tree and never grinded the stump or removed the tree limbs he cut. I had there tree service out about three weeks ago, and made the misstake of paying them in full before they where finished. They have told me several times they would be out to grind down the stump, but have never showed up or called. They keep saying they can't do it when it has rained, well it hasn't rained in a week and half. I will change this rating if they ever came and finish the job.
