I had a great time. I was worried I might crash a bike. Or fail the course. I'd never driven a clutch only automatic bikes prior. I felt totally confident afterwards. I understood all kinds of risks. I got much better at u turns, slaloming, stopping correctly, using rear and front brakes properly, understanding stopping distances. I learned how to ride a clutch in two days. My coach was awesome. He was patient, gave us feedback every module both encouraging and spotting good things but also telling us how to be better. He explained every exercise what not to do and how to do it properly then demoed in his own bike. I respected that he also teaches police officers and has a background in motorcycle racing. I felt really good about the quality of his teaching given the years of experience. The class was fun. And he did a great job leading it I got my license at the dmv the very next Monday after the class. read more

The instructors at this riders course truly care about riders and their safety. Although I was part of a group of 9 others I felt like I was being personally coached. I can't say enough good things about them and how much they were committed to safety. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this course to anyone that wants to learn how to properly ride a motorcycle. Yes it will cost you but its incredibly worth it!!! I've been riding since 2003 and there was so many skills I learned here. Come with some riding experience m, they will not teach you how to ride, only test you on your existing skill level. My husband and I shared an amazing weekend in the Total Rider Training Course. My husband has been riding all of his life but neglected to ensure that his endorsement transferred over when moving to TX. I have never been on a motorcycle before and was Very intimidated. The class was great for both of us. Dave, the instructor, was patient, knowledgable, and fun to spend time with. At the end the course, my husband was polished and happy and I was comfortable and confident with riding. A bonus was the 40+ years of riding experiences he freely shared. After a weekend of listening to Dave's stories and entertaining escapades, both my husband and I passed our written exam at the DMV this morning on the first attempt. I took the Basic Rider Course on 3/30, Hutto location. I had zero experience with motorcycles before the course. The classroom part of the course paid for is not actually taught by the instructors. They insisted the class go around the room reading everything aloud to "teach each other" - this included slides with "Your rider coach will now..." So what is the point of classroom instruction if it could have been read independently at home like the other mandatory pre-classroom tutorial? When we moved to the hands-on portion of the class, they gave me a bike (cruiser style) with a dead battery. The class is a series of mini lessons with the bikes running, and parked to get a verbal rundown of what was expected in the upcoming lesson. Every time I had to wait for the rider coaches to get everyone else off and going for the lesson, then wait for them to come jump-start my bike with a battery pack making jokes to me about not stalling it. Not at all fair or considerate for a totally nervous and new person to riding a motorcycle, and this cost me desperately needed learning time. I lost time at the beginning of every lesson, felt rushed trying to grasp the concepts in less time, and was always the last straggler to finish while everyone in the class was watching which further added to my nervousness. I ended up losing control of and crashing a bike the first day and being dismissed from the class. I was ok and able to leave the class, but the next day the entire inside of my upper right leg was purple and bruised from where I must have hit the bike trying to get off it. The website advertises a one time "hall-pass" fee of $70, and as I left the class the coach (Jeff) offered that I could take private lessons for additional fees so I wouldn't feel rushed/self conscious with my zero experience level before trying the license course again. Which I might have been willing to pay for until I exchanged a few emails with Mindy, the office manager of the program. Mindy was completely rude, never once asked if I was ok after wrecking in one of their classes, and never made the slightest apology or acknowledgement of the fact that I was given a non-working bike to train on, and completely ignored my questions about the hall-pass they talk about on the website. All she did was quote fees and full-price to repeat. I have shared my experience with other riders who all told me that was an absolutely terrible way to learn to ride and I should try again somewhere else far away from these people! If you are completely new to learning how to ride a motorcycle, I highly recommend you go somewhere else that cares more about the safety of its students and cares about creating an environment for success for new riders. If you go with these guys, you will not matter to them after they have your money. read more

I have been riding mountain bikes since I was 9 or 10 and continued to until about 3 months ago when I bought a moped/scooter (which are fun to ride and great to learn how to lean on). But the little Honda was too slow so I upgraded to a EX250-F but didn't know how to ride...so I took the course and now I'm riding the streets just fine! Anita is a very sweet and patient instructor and definitely helped me get over the whole clutch situation I was having difficulty with. (Sorry again for getting irritable!) I've ridden dirtbikes for many years and rode a hog once or twice on the road. Just went through the class and learned a lot more than I anticipated. The classroom part could use some work as the first half they had the sudents reading and than teaching the class. For a first time rider the brief touch up points by the instructor was not working. The riding part would get a five. David did a good job working with the new rider in the group and those of us that have rode before. He was fun to work with and all left learning something from him. read more
