I enrolled in this driving school expecting to learn how to drive. What I got instead was an unsolicited sermon. Apparently, the curriculum here is designed around praising Jesus. I am not a Christian. I did not sign up for a religious experience. If I wanted spiritual guidance, I would have gone to church, which I won't, because that is simply not who I am. Teach me to drive. That is literally your one job. George is also arrogant, acrimonious and loves to moralize at you like you are sitting in his congregation. It was unprofessional, uncomfortable and frankly offensive. Keep your religious views to yourself, this is a driving school not a place of worship. The cars are another story altogether. Ancient, dirty and falling apart. Every single lesson I was just hoping the car would survive long enough to get me back. It was embarrassing honestly, let alone unsafe. I walked away after spending so much money having learned absolutely nothing about driving. Not one useful thing. I joined Coastline Academy shortly after and the difference is night and day. Being there has shown me exactly how much this school dropped the ball and how little they actually care about teaching you anything. Avoid this scrapyard of a place. Seriously. The best driving school in Austin! I was recommended by my manager and had never driven before. All the instructors and the owner is great and very helpful and kind. They are also very knowledgeable and patient and I was able to learn and pass my test thanks to their expertise and experience. Brandi was my main instructor and she was absolutely great. I also had Elias and Hector and they were very nice and easy to work with as well. Also shout out to Yolanda and Nalani for making booking and processing so smooth and easy. I recently moved to Austin from Massachusetts, where I've had my license for many years, but didn't drive that much. I didn't have much confidence in my driving so I took the refresher course and felt much, much better in my abilities to drive safely afterwards. I had two solid instructors from a driving school in Boston who helped me pass my exam on my first try, and I can honestly say that George was an even better instructor. I found him to be very professional and efficient in his instruction. We spent about the first third of the time going through several scenarios and how I should respond in each (who has the right of way, lane positioning, etc). I honestly found this part very valuable because I was able to reinforce my understanding of the rules of the road, and was primed for the subsequent driving portion of the lesson. George is a excellent instructor who will teach you how to drive systematically to protect yourself by giving yourself enough space and time to react to changing conditions and telling you key targets that you should be looking out for when driving. Firstly, I think I passed over George initially because it didn't look that his office was close to my house, but when I talked with him, I realized he serves pretty much all of Austin (just check with him), and he will come pick you up from your house, which is great. Passed my road test on my first attempt in TX!!! I took the 4 lesson package with George (the last session of which is the road test). Having tried multiple times in MA and failed, I was thrilled. George was the best instructor I had out of at least 4 instructors I have tried total (in MA and elsewhere). He somehow knew the right technique and tips to get me to focus in on the things that matter and to be way more more comfortable driving, when normally driving is super stressful for me. More important than just passing the road test, I actually feel like I've gotten the hang of driving and can drive properly and safely now. Still not fun, but it's do-able. George will also bring you to the testing area to drive around, which is just so helpful to get familiar with everything there (speeds, signs, turns, etc.) BEFORE the actual road test. He is also polite, responsive, and on time, organized. This is pretty important as well. Final tip - I highly recommend you practice right before your road test to warm up. In fact, book an extra session with George if needed right before. This helped me immensely, and I am not quite sure if I would have passed had I not done that. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about George - he is an excellent instructor. After many hours of trying to teach our son how to drive in parking lots and side streets, he still didn't feel comfortable. I am a 72 year old woman who had never driven in her life. Moving to Texas, I realized I needed to learn to drive to be able to get around independently. I had many fears to overcome. I am so grateful I came across Target Driving School and especially that I had Mr George as an instructor. He very calmly and patiently taught me how to face my fears and then learn how to drive. I had to think a lot about what rating to give this school before posting this. On the one hand, my driving instructor was fantastic. He had a plan, a system and it worked very well and it was highly-geared towards not only providing basic driving instruction, but also towards successfully passing the road test. He was extremely patient and cordial and provided great feedback. Based on that alone I would have given the school at least 4 stars, probably 5. However, on the other hand, the scheduling system was atrocious. I had several problems with it. For example, I had three classes scheduled for May. I asked that ONE of those classes be rescheduled for June, and I was later informed that ALL of my classes got rescheduled, setting my road test date back a month as well. When I asked them to reschedule the other two classes back to May, I was informed that my original time slots were already taken. On top of this, I was told, among other things, that I had already used up all my lessons when I had two left, and the instructor was sent to the wrong address to pick me up twice. When I requested a refund, I was told they did not offer them, despite the issues brought up not being my fault in the least. I'm not sure I can blame the staff for these issues; other driving schools I've worked with have automated scheduling systems on their websites, but for some reason Target will only schedule via text message or phone. Overall, if you have the patience to deal with their horrendous scheduling system, my instructor (Angel) made it worthwhile. If you don't, I'd go with another school. read more

For someone who drives with inexperienced drivers all day long he's a pretty calm guy and has a great sense of humor. Before I started taking classes, I was so nervous about my driving! After taking a few classes with George, I began to get confident by following his techniques that made driving a lot more easier than I was making it to be! He was always on time and very soft spoken throughout all the drives, so it was a lot more relaxing than driving with stressed parents.
