I used to absolutely love this place. I would come in every release of Pokemon to buy 1-2 booster boxes for the past 4 years. They have now resorted to overcharging all of their Pokemon cards by over 200% basing them off of TCGPlayer prices created by scalpers. Probably the rudest employees I've ever encountered, the lady (maybe different gender I have no idea, definitely tries to dress feminine) working has a bad attitude for no reason. I'm not sure if the boy and the girl that I encountered awhile ago during the day work there still but when I came in to sell cards, the dude replied with some snarky comments along the lines of "God I hope you don't have more cards" even tho I onlyn traded in around 10 cards when I was the only person in the nstore and we're too busy flirting to assist me at all. It's too bad because the actual owner is a very cool guy, but it takes one bad egg to ruin the bunch. read more

RUDE EMPLOYEES I see this place all the time while driving by and just stopped in last night with my kids looking for family type games. There was a gal and a younger boy at the front counter and some gamers hanging around in the back. The two were talking and it appeared that he worked there or was her son. She didn't say a word to us when we walked through the door. We Proceeded to browse around for about 5 or 10 minutes, obviously not knowing what we were looking for and the gal at the front STILL didn't say a single word to us. When we walked out she didn't say anything to us until I sarcastically said "Thanks for your help" to which she responds "thank you". Really great selection of games at decent prices for a brick and mortar store. I've come here over the years and it's great for if you know exactly what you want. But if you're not sure and are looking for recommendations, the staff are not the friendliest. This last time I was in the store, I walked up to the counter and waited for at least 2 minutes for the cashier as he was talking to a friend before he decided to acknowledge me. He made eye contact with me sooner but just kept talking to his friend. I felt like he only stopped because he was getting annoyed of me standing there. I asked him about two games and both times he gave me a blank stare and said "never heard of it." When I did pick something up and go up to pay, again, it seemed like I was really interrupting/annoying him. The store is clean, has a great selection and is one of the better brick and mortar game stores in the area but I can get better service from a computer (and cheaper too). Maybe if you're a regular it's better but for casual customers like me I've always received pretty lukewarm service. read more

The selection here is decent, and prices on most things are ok but they are definitely over priced, over MSRP, on several games that I saw. The employees are not very service oriented and unless you are a regular that comes in and plays you aren't part of the "cool kids club" and you won't get much service. One time I stood at the counter to ask the employee a question and I waited 5 minutes until he was done talking to his buddy. It's an ok Game Store in an underserved area, but I will be making the longer drive to Funtastic Games in Louisville over this store any day of the week. read more

I spotted this shop when driving by last Tuesday. One of the Shadowrun Meetup members also commented that it was there. I dropped in yesterday while I was running around on a day off. I'm a fan specifically of Shadowrun and Wings of War so that's what I usually am looking for. That and game space. The front of the shop is open and inviting. There's a chair on the right with a table. There are several games in the front window. When you enter, there is a small table in the center of the open area with several Settlers of Caton games and accessories. On the left wall are a selection of board games such as Arkham Horror. In the first rack, about half way back are a select of war games and miniatures including Wings of War games and planes. There are more miniature planes for Wings of War on the table between the two racks. On the right, next to the chair is the counter. There is a selection of Chessex dice on top with some gear in the counter. On the right wall next to the register are some D&D gear and I spotted one of the old gamer movies. There are two rows of racks filled with games in front of the right wall and next to the register. A new selection of Shadowrun books are here including the newest Unwired book (well, I snapped it up so it's not there now but Steven may have filled it by now :) There are a few card games, token tubes, and Killer Bunnies. There was a nice selection of World of Darkness across from the Shadowrun books. On the last rack is a selection of candies and on the left wall between the games and the tables is a selection of drinks available for sale. In the back right corner is a spinning rack with several Dungeons & Dragons books. I saw two tables in back of the room with stools and a closed off area with tables and chairs for the in store gaming. I spoke to Steven and the lady that was occupying the chair while I was checking out the store. The store opened on the 1st of March so has only been open for a couple of weeks. The store certainly reflected its newness with the smell of new carpet :) Steven was nice enough to check my Wings of War webpage so I could make sure I didn't duplicate any purchases. We chatted about the store and area and about gaming. I asked if outside food was allowed and they both said absolutely which is a positive note for me. I let him know I was a member of the meetup group and was checking the store out. About the only real negative were some of the prices of the gear I was interested in. The Wings of War box is available for about $29 in other local stores and Steven's selling it for $35 which is MSRP. I blame it on being a new store and they probably don't have the discounts available to them yet. We'll see how it goes over time. On the plus side, they're having a 20% off sale right now because they are new so head on down. read more

Dropped in here with a friend for International Table Top Day and was pleasantly surprised to see all tables filled. I'm sure a lot of people here are either regulars or heard about this holiday way before I did (read: a few days beforehand), but it's still heartwarming to see places like this getting lots of love. They had brought in a gaming rep to run Rivet Wars, which was fun and a welcome opportunity, but still left the proceedings feeling a little sparse. We were under the impression that there'd be more free demos on offer with a larger pool of players, but it seemed more like a bunch of friends were just playing their own games. That's fair on any other day of the year, but the International Table Top Day could've been better advertised and executed. We finished our game and perused the shelves to see if anything new or fancy could help us commemorate the day and lighten our wallets. Total Escape has good depth of selection with no obvious emphasis on any one subgenre. The prices are fair but, as always, it never hurts to check on Amazon if it's an itch you can wait to scratch. The only real downside to the whole affair: a faint, nagging pungence that lingered in the back near the gaming tables. I've been to enough conventions that an unfortunate odor or two won't turn me away from a place like this, but bear it in mind if you're going to drop in for a lengthy session in the back. read more

What this place lacks in size, they make up for in courtesy, selection, friendliness, and atmosphere. I'm used to small game stores looking like the bedroom of someone who lives in their parent's basement. Not so here - the store is clean, brightly and tastefully decorated, and well-organized. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and anything they don't have, they will get for you quickly. I'm especially pleased to say that they stock everything one needs to play the Pathfinder system! There is a good-sized gaming room in the back, suitable for even large gaming groups - I don't normally game with strangers, but the community attached to the store seem friendly, open, and like they have a really good time. Really nice gaming store. Lots of space for gaming, whether it's M:tG, board games, rpgs, or miniatures. Friendly staff that are fairly knowledgeable about the various products. Good stock of various product as well, and their restocking is excellent, and if you ask them to order something for you they'll try their best. Store is clean, well lit, and well organized, and even the bathroom is clean and well maintained. Honestly, the store probably deserves 4.5 stars or so, but I can't give it that rating. Definitely a good store to go to if you're in the Broomfield area. read more

I really hate to be critical of a new place, especially when they may not have the capital to have everything that people are looking for. I have to give them a round of applause though because what I noticed when I came in to look around. They had the basic staple euro selection, but didn't really hit the hardcore euro or Ameritrash niche. Only time will tell what will become of this little gem. Only if I still lived in Broomfield, those guys would be my number one place to shop. I wish 'em the best of luck, and maybe when I stop in next I can give them my 5*s. Edit: I came to visit the family again in B-town and after another visit TEG still need more games! There's plenty of space to add more merchandise space. A brick and mortar is hard pressed to compete with online stores, so you need to capture what online stores provide while still having the charm of a gaming store. You can't limit yourself to just the "space". Just my 2 cents. read more

This is an awesome store for gamers. The folks that work there are all incredibly friendly, helpful and customer-service conscious. I've always been impressed by the staff here and it's the reason this gets a full 5-stars. Selection is very solid as well, everything is easy to find and nicely organized. It does not suffer from the clutter some game stores seem to be plagued by. The space, as mentioned, is very open and inviting. They have a number of very nice gaming tables, and host all kinds of different events. Even though I'm in Boulder, this is still my go-to game store. read more

I shop in there for 40K stuff my husband and the staff has always been super helpful to pick out the perfect gift. This store is really nice. Clean, friendly and REALLY inviting. A great place for newbies to get acquainted with the game without having to be afraid to ask "silly noob questions". We barely knew the NAMES or colors of the cards we were looking for and the man we were speaking with ( i assume he is the owner, but not sure! ) went out of his way to be friendly and patient and help us figure it out. And then on top of it all, after we found our 4 cards we wanted, he told us we could have them for free. Above and beyond my expectations. I'm so glad we came here first before Game Heroes, though Game Heroes definitely has more of a selection than these guys. read more

This is a well put together little nerd shop. They have a large selection of games both board and card. WH and other table top games have tables complete with terrain for use and they host MtG tournaments here as well. The prices are a little high which is what keeps them from getting a five star rating. read more

Total Escape games has grown and has an ever bigger selection. They've got a lot of events going on. However, while that's all good, I'm afraid I have to lower my rating due to something the store may have no control over. A large part of the gaming group seems to be heavy smokers. With them stepping outside every half hour for smoke breaks, the stench during gaming is pretty heavy. We found this unbearable and probably will not be returning to game there. read more

Awesome gaming store. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean it was. I have never been to a game store so neat and tidy, and with as much room as this had. I was greeted by John, who manages the store, and immediately felt that I was welcome. I have been back many times now and every member of the staff and really friendly. One of the things I love is each person plays different games, and brings a different view to the community. They have a plethora of games and accessories here that gamers will love. Very rude employees! I've been in here multiple times as well as called on the phone and after the treatment I've received have decided to just spend my money elsewhere. The lady with dark hair here is the rudest. She stares me down and makes me uncomfortable every time I go in here and acts like I'm an inconvenience. She also doesn't have much knowledge on the product because she became confused when I asked her some questions. How did you get a job here? Also, guy on the phone: work on being friendlier to customers instead of your one word answers and slamming the phone down. All I asked is if you were buying a particular card. Funny how you weren't buying it either because another shop I called said it was no problem. I can't wait till you guys go out of business because of the way you treat your customers. Guess you're clueless that there are plenty of other shops around who don't treat their customers like this. It's unacceptable and just shows how unprofessional your "business" is. Looking through these other reviews it's obvious I'm not the only one having a problem with your "service". You don't even have the guts to respond to any of these people. I have been to Total escape games. I have played there and it was not that friendly of a place. the day shift person was rude, snobby, and pure disrespectful. Yes the Store does have tons and tones of gaming stuff that all gamers want and need. But if you do not kiss their tail you get treated like trash. I have seen better and been to better store. They need customer service training badly. with out us gamers they would go out of business they need to keep that in mind. I think they forgot that basic business principle 101. TEG needs some major improvement in customer service. Because customer service is what makes the store not what you sell or have in stock. A lesson to remember. read more
