    Chilaquiles
    Cecilia D.

Came here with family and friends after the Shamrock Run...so glad we did. The restaurant is spacious with a good vibe. Everyone was friendly especially our server Marlene. She was very informative of the things we were curious about on the menu and she was super attentive. The food itself was delish...here is what we had Mexican Eggs Benedict: Avocado, chorizo, grilled onions, two poached eggs, hollandaise topping. Served over sour baguette - an awesome rendition of the original Benedict. Fully satisfying and worth the price Chilaquiles Verdes Corn tortilla chips tossed in green salsa, chorizo, sour cream, queso fresco, and pico de gallo. Served with two eggs any style. Seasoned potatoes or beans - my sis had this. Must say this is the best version of Chilaquiles I have had. The salsa they use was just amazing! It may not look like much but is is very filling Raspberry Cheesecake Pancakes: Signature buttermilk pancakes filled with cheesecake bites and raspberries - I was pleasantly surprised with this dish. The pancakes and sauce were just perfect. Not too sweet and had a little tang to it. Definitely a keeper! Birria Tacos: Birria, onion, cilantro, and melted cheese, Served with consomé - this was yummy...although a little salty, nothing some sour cream and lime cannot fix. I do not eat a lot of salt in my diet so it may be fine for others. Overall, I loved everything I tasted. I will definitely go back to try other things and suggest you try it out too.

    Tostadas de carnitas - Delicious!

My son and I wanted to have Mexican food after shopping, so, of course, I looked up Yelp for the nearest place and decided on Tostadas. The place was packed but fortunate to get a table. The food was great! I got Tostadas de Carnitas that come with two. I gotta say that the carnitas was sooo tender! Oh so good! My son went for breakfast and got bacon, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. He also got an order of buttermilk pancakes. (He loves breakfast. ) They have happy hour 2:00-5:00 pm during the week. A few food items for $4 and drinks for $5 and $6. We'll be back again.

Chicken enchilladas rojos. They forgot the rice & beans, why? It was included on menu and really needed them to soak up the spiciness lol.

We enjoyed the comfortable ( FINALLY a restaurant in Campbell that has comfortable seating!), and spaciousness of Tosadas. Ambience is big with me ;) also don't feel cramped next to the table next to you. Our waiter was very nice & attentive. Pros: Amazing spicy margarita & big too. Boyfriend loved his tostadas. Service, top notch! Nice and spacious and comfortable seating. Cons: Chicken enchiladas didn't come with rice and beans. It is stated on the menu I noticed way after. Why weren't they included? They especially needed something to soak up the extra level of spiciness of the red sauce (it was spicy, even for me FYI & I can tolerate the heat well). We were solicited a few times. First a guy came over asking to take our photo & to pay him for it. Next, another guy peddling roses. Super awkward experience & feel like we were targeted being a couple ( they didn't solicit anyone else lol)

California Eggs Benedict. My husband asked that grilled onions be added, but they put them on the side.

The food here is good, but not great. Slow kitchen, and the food isn't quite warm enough. We had a similar experience at the midtown location. I will say that our server gave us each a complimentary bowl of pozole to compensate for the slow service, which was very nice. My husband ordered the California Eggs Benedict. He liked the flavors, but he said it was hard to eat due to the awkward construction of the ingredients. Everything just kept falling apart. He also asked for grilled onions added to his Benedict, but they added them on the side, instead of with the other ingredients, so that wasn't what he was hoping for. Delicious chips and salsa. The chips are really crispy. The room with the plants on the walls and ceiling and the beautiful murals is really pretty.

We went to this restaurant last night because our friend Al was really craving some Mexican food. My sister-in-law had been there before, We weren't expecting too much after checking out the Yelp reviews. The drinks were definitely good! For appetizers, we got the elote, guacamole, ceviche, and carne asada tacos. They were okay--not bad, but not mind-blowing either. For our main courses, we ordered the combo fajitas and the trompo al pastor. The fajitas were solid, with tasty chicken and shrimp, but the steak had a strange flavor, almost like liver, which was a bit odd. On the other hand, the al pastor was fantastic and definitely a standout! Overall, it was a mixed experience food-wise, but I'd be open to giving it another shot maybe for brunch next time. Our server was great, super friendly and attentive, which made the night even better!

Perfect place for breakfast lunch or dinner. Located in the middle of Campbell off of Hamilton and Winchester. They had lots of parking. And it was easy to find. Our server Robert was very attractive and knowledgeable about the menu. I love the dish she recommended and the green sauce instead of the red on the enchiladas. Also, he seems very passionate about the restaurant and company itself. He really seemed like he loved working for the family. The service also was fast and efficient. Everything came out in order and warm. We can't complain about anything and ate everything and will definitely come back.

It's nice to find a weekend brunch place that takes reservations! We came on Sunday around 12:15, and were taken to our table promptly. The drinks are large, and there are plenty of vegetarian options. I recommend the huevos divorciados, as you get tostadas with both green and red sauce.

Decided to check out Tostadas after seeing it on Check please. The decor was nice and I like that most of the seats were booth seats- nice and comfy! We made a reservation a few days in advance, but it wasn't needed. We could have been easily seated without a wait. I ordered the chile verde which was tasty. It was served with beans, even though I requested not to have it, however, they offered to take it back right away (which I appreciated). A couple of different people checked in on us throughout the night. Free chips and salsa were also served when we sat down. Overall, service was friendly, the vibe was chill, and the food & cocktails were tasty.

YUM!!! Came here for brunch based on Yelp reviews and I was blown away at how good everything was! The star of the show was definitely the carnitas bowl. They don't skimp on the meat at all! The portions are VERY generous and the service was fantastic. They have several deals throughout the week so we will definitely be back.

My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch and it was almost perfect! They had an awesome happy hour deal on margaritas--and they were seriously good. I ordered tacos that were delicious, but at first I was told they couldn't be modified since they were premade. Luckily, another (more experienced) server noticed me picking out the peppers and quickly had them remade just how I wanted--total save! The place is super cute with a fun, colorful vibe that gave me all the Mexico feels. We loved the food, the comfy booth, and the relaxed atmosphere. I'm already craving those tacos again--definitely a spot I'll be coming back to!

Service 10/10 great atmosphere and shows. We went for a birthday and they brought out a complimentary shot with a whole show that gets the whole restaurant pumped. The food is really well maid. The price to food ratio value is also good. And with certain dishes you get a presentation too it's definitely worth stopping by.

I find it very interesting that most of the recent 5 start reviews are from Yelpers who have never written a single review before. Hmmm Popped in for the first time today with my fam for a little Friday Happy Hour. It was just before 5pm and the place was empty except for one other table which was surprising for a Friday. The decor is stylish with deep dark colors and velvet and gold bar stools. Loved that they had festive music playing in the background. I didn't use the restroom but my brother said it was cool with fun photos. Parking is easy and plentiful which is a plus. Can I just give a HUGE shout out to our server Robert. He was fantastic! He truly made the experience fun and was the best part of our visit for sure. Thanks Robert! We just wanted drinks and apps to share. Here's what we ordered: SANGRIA $15: LOVED the cute pineapple shaped glasses these came in. Super cute. Sadly they were packed with ice and very little sangria. And the sangria wasn't very boozy for $15 a pop. HH MARGARITA $6: I didn't get a chance to taste this but my brother said it was good. SLUSHY FLIGHT $17: These were cute and presented in little glasses. This was the mojito blend and we really didn't care for the flavor but could tell there was a decent amount of booze in them so obviously we polished em off. HH GUAC $5: HUGE portion for $5 so great value. Sadly it lacked flavor and all I could taste was the red onion in it which was overpowering so we only ate half. The salsa was pretty good so I dipped my chips mostly in that. Buuuut, the chips themselves seemed a little stale? SHRIMP QUESADILLA $18: this was my favorite by far. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of cheese. I also liked the spicy sauce that came with it. GRILLED CHICKEN QUESADILLA $15: this was fine. The chicken was grilled nicely and again, the right amount of cheese inside. PAPER STRAWS: I hate these! I get that they're environmentally friendly but seriously terrible. Sadly I don't think we'll be back which makes me so sad. I had high hopes that this might be our families new go-to Mexican spot but the search continues. However the service was outstanding!

But you should be assured the quality here is real good. I had to dock 1 star for the interesting choice of leaving the emergency door ajar all night the time i went. While it did help with the steamy temps inside, wow did it ruin the night for those who sit close to the door! It was very cold and windy so maybe leaving it too open was an uninformed choice. Parking is tricky, it's mostly street. There's some residential areas you can park at if you don't mind walking farther. Definitely going back, but a little farther away from the door next time.

The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. The Lira in Wonderland was also SO good. It had a crown of cotton candy and was a mix of biscoff cookies, dehydrated red velvet cake (don't knock it till you try it), butterscotch sauce, and strawberries. I was honestly blown away by this meal.

This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner date that my husband meticulously planned for me,…read morebut it turned into the most horrendous dining experience I've ever had. We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I am hopeful that whichever future business occupies this space is more successful.

I tend to avoid tequila, so that eliminated a good chunk of the options. I went with Rose Colored Lenses, which was fantastic, and decently sized. Presentation was beautiful. My friend had All a Dream, also very good. The wine offerings are minimal, this is very much a cocktail or champagne type of place, with caviar being the primary food service. Speaking of service, the bartender was excellent, both in his mixology and demeanor. It took awhile to get the drinks, but I assume that was due to the complexity of the cocktails, paired with having just opened the doors a few min earlier. Two notes: 1. The barstools were a little too low, imo. I don't normally pay much attention to that detail, but these were uncomfortably low for me, even with my long torso, I was hyper aware of my posture. So maybe that's actually a good thing 2. Other patrons were rolling in shortly behind me, so there is probably an early crowd when they first open, then a late night group that appreciates the 2am closing time. Interior is beautiful, and you can use the steps up to the 2nd floor either from N Santa Cruz or the rear parking lot off W Main. More substantial food options are a mere few steps across the hall at Heritage.

Alter Ego and Still OG might just be the most cleverly conceived bar concept in the city. Small and…read moreintimate, yes -- but every inch of it is intentional. Let's start with the drinks. The cocktail menu is inspired by records, and you can feel the creativity in every sip. These aren't your standard bar pours -- they're clearly thought out and crafted with personality. If you're someone who appreciates a drink with a story behind it, you'll be in your element here. The live DJ on weekends takes the whole experience to another level. The music isn't background noise -- it's part of the atmosphere, and it hits right. What makes this place truly special is that you're getting two completely different vibes under one roof. Walk into Still OG up front and you get a casual, laid-back energy -- easy conversation, good company, no pretension. Then slip into the speakeasy in the back and the whole mood shifts. Alter Ego is a proper intimate lounge with their full bar, and it feels like a world away from the street outside. The transition between the two spaces is surprisingly seamless and genuinely fun to experience. And they're open late, which puts them in a rare category of places actually worth staying out for. Whether you're there for a chill night out or a proper evening, this place delivers both without making you choose.

This location performs shows (done by the staff) on the hour, every hour. The shows are choreographed by the owner of the bar & by the end of the night, the entire staff has been in at least 1 number. These dance numbers are SOOO fun & SOOO good! There is no where in San Jose that is doing what this place doing. The staff comes around & gives shots (plus a show, obvi), also there is a certain drink you can order where they will put on a show for you as well. There is a dance floor for dancing & the DJ is great at reading a room! I cannot believe how fun this place is, or how it is not PACKED yet. Skip your silly little bars & get down here ASAP. The menu is pretty big, & while I have no had food here yet, the menu drinks are great! If you are looking for a super great time with full entertainment, look no further. This please is fabulous!
