Honestly so good! I arrived and was able to place my order quickly. The girl who helped me was patient and answered questions. She was also very accommodating. I ordered the super burrito, no cilantro, no beans, wet. She recommended the red sauce. Wait wasn't too long. Ambiance is nice with murals to look at and music to listen to while you wait. A good amount of tables and clean. Food came out in about 10 minutes. Complimentary chips and salsa came with the burrito. Salas both have a good kick to them, one slightly more flavorful than the other. Chips were fine. The burrito. First let me start with the packaging: they thoughtfully wrapped the to-go box with foil so the sauce wouldn't spill out on my way home. Upon opening the burrito had a nice presentation which is always a plus! The red sauce is insane. Has a flavor profile that is warm and full. Highly recommend. I had been looking for a place that serves shaved al pastor from a cone, and I saw a post on Reddit recommending Metro Balderas, so I decided to try them out. I'm glad I did because this is by far the best Mexican food I've had in San Jose. We came by around dinner time on a Sunday, and it wasn't too busy. They had someone grilling meats outside which is where they also had the cone set up. There was plenty of parking and seating, and our food came out fast. The tacos were very flavorful and the thinly sliced meat was exactly what I was hoping for. They also brought us bottles of a green salsa and a spicy red salsa, both of which were very good. I read somewhere that they usually only have the cone on weekends, but I'm not sure. They also have a $1.50 al pastor taco deal on Wednesdays, so I'll definitely be back for that. The Alpastor are my favorite meat choice but the meat is not always good in other places, however, Metro Balderas always makes it perfect. I have been going here for years and it is time to stop gatekeeping. These are hands down my favorite. Parking is a struggle sometimes but practice patience and you will not be let down. Tacos were great. We tried pollo asada, carne asada and al pastor - everything had good flavor and wasn't dry. They give you a good amount of meat in each taco and the price is pretty good. They also include some sautéed onions and peppers with your order. Refried Beans and Rice were really good. The only thing we wish is that the salsa was better. The salsa that we got with our chips tasted like tomato sauce. And then the salsas we got with our tacos (red and green) were both too spicy for me. Maybe someone else would like it more. Service here was great. Everyone spoke perfect English and I think food is authentic. Ambiance is nothing to talk about. You order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. Surprisingly my meal came with a side of chips and salsa. I asked for water and it was served in a small plastic cup. The workers there make good eye contact but I guess I should've hollered for a refill. Unfortunately, their carne asada plate just didn't do it for me. The beans and rice were standard. The beef was charred well, but it didn't get much flavor. I tried putting the green sauce and other sauces but it just didn't work for me. It came with fresh handmade tortillas though and you have the option for corn/flour. They came piping hot. I still like this place, and I want to order more familiar dishes like tacos next time. The worst burrito of my life no joke. I was waiting for over 20 minutes and when I finally got my burrito, it was cold hardly no meat and just a bunch of refried beans and the cheese was not even melted. The beans tasted old and the meat was dry. I hope I don't get sick. Super upset. Honestly one of the worst nachos that I think ever been produced the lack of cheese on this is making it borderline be more dry than Popeyes biscuits! 68 dollars for 2 mediocre plates of Mexican food and one dry nachos with no cheese. It's basically just eating tortilla chips and a small taste of chicken. There's so much better spots in San Jose! And the service wasn't the best either with them bringing our plates at 3 different times... The workers look like they hate it here and aren't friendly at all. Rating this place a 3.5 rounding up to 4. There's a small parking lot in front of the restaurant and the interior is clean and spacious with plenty of seating. I ordered the al pastor super burrito which was around 7-8" long. There was a good amount of meat in there (not an insane amount, but they don't skimp), and the al pastor was pretty tender and was flavorful. The rice was a bit too soft for my preference but overall the burrito was good. I also tried the steak which was a bit dry and prefer the al pastor. The salsas here were alright and nothing special. The value for the burritos is great with the super burritos being around $11. Definitely would come back because that's a steal nowadays. read more

Menu is bilingual and easy to order at the front counter. I chose pambazo a Mexican chorizo/potato sandwich similar to torta add $1.50 for fries and for drinks orange juice. I was quite surprised by the size it was more generous with all the fillings comes with chorizo, potato, shredded lettuce, onions, garlic, slaw and layer with guajlio chili sauce. It was more than fulfilling and definitely appetizing es muy deliciso great for brunch or late night snacks. Pambazo is my kind of dish for its authentic Mexican style meal and every bit of it so amazing a real bombshell.
