Their chicharron tacos in green salsa taste just like mom made them, and all their meats have a flavor you have to hunt down and go through 5-10 different spots to find them in other cities. Service is friendly, and the establishment is what you want a good Mexican restaurant to look like. The TV playing '90s Mexican music videos was a nice bonus. This is the best Mexican food in Milwaukee, the closest thing to it, and probably still falling short would be Atotonilco in Chicago. Don't overdo the brats, and head on over here for delicious and authentic Mexican food.

For our entrees, I got the taco truck dinner with pork pivil as my meat of choice. The meat was juicy, tender and had lots of flavor! The pinto beans had a nice smoky flavor. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu!

Our three tacos for…read morethe taco truck dinner ($14) were chicken, chorizo and carnitas with the chorizo standing out amongst the three with better seasoning. The guacamole had a strong citrus flavor which I am a fan of and the salsa was complimentary! I would HIGHLY recommend the best burrito ($15) as they did not skimp on any ingredient, especially the flavorful pork pibil. My only qualm was that the rice was undercooked and slightly crunchy, but otherwise an affordable and tasty restaurant for a date night. The staff were friendly, service was fast (less than 10min to receive food after ordering) and the restaurant had bright and colorful furniture and decor which were true to theme.

The interior is somewhat stark in appearance, tiled walls, a mixture of high tops and normal tables with a bar running along one side of the establishment. The restaurant was moderately busy at the time of our visit, with one large group beside our own, a group of 8 young high school aged kids and our group of six, a few people at other tables and at the bar. Drink orders were taken but did seem to take more time than expected considering two bartenders and the number of adult patrons. A pitcher of margaritas at $39 was decent. Several other drink orders were taken throughout the meal. This place gets great ratings but not sure why. We ordered appetizers, no complimentary chips, guacamole and pico bowls, and a huge order of chicken nachos. The quac and chips were first rate, the nachos were ok but the amount of chicken considering the size of the dish was sparse, more beans than anything else. Our meal orders included a chicken quesadilla, a shrimp burrito bowl, a chicken burrito bowl, flautas de tinga, and 4 tacos (Al pastor, carne asada, ground beef). The quesadilla was enjoyed, those who had the burritos described them as ok, a lot was left uneaten. The flautas again were described as ok, nothing special. The tacos were the most disappointing choice. First they were the smallest tacos I've ever experienced considering the cost ($5 to $6 each), then the taste, the steak was tasteless, the pork better but again not special. Each taco was sparsely dressed with different salsas and cheese on house made corn tortillas. Considering the cost and the quality of our meals our thoughts were that things were over priced. Our total bill came to $256 including taxes but not tip. All agreed that if we were to return it would be for drinks and maybe an appetizer or two, but not a meal.

The menu features small bites, chicken, loaded fries, and they have specials too. I ordered at the counter and got a text once my food my was ready. There's plenty of seating inside the brewery and the interior is unique because it used to be a church. Don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure it was at some point. Anyway, I had to try the birria egg rolls because there was a ton of signage. First, they were quite large. The exterior had a great crunch and the interior was stuffed full of delicious birria, mozzarella, and chihuahua cheese. The ancho chipotle aioli was nice and smoky and paired well with the eggrolls. Definitely recommend and I wish I lived in the area because I could make a meal out of just these. I also tried one of the specials, the Chicken Tinga eggrolls. Again, they were bigger than expected, had a delicious, crispy exterior, and was stuffed full of chicken tinga and queso. It was served with a side of crema. Perfect pairing and I might have enjoyed these slightly more than the birria ones. I highly recommend that you check them out. I'm jealous that I don't live closer because we don't have a place like this in KC. They are definitely a unique place with delicious food.

Get here early - parking sucks, and suburbanites will freak out at the hood, but no worries Jesus is right next door at St. Josaphats basilica and will watch over you. And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh. There's about 6 different amazing salsas to try. Smoky, fresh, green, red, hot sweet - I get two for the weekend. I consider a quart of menudo. I think about. Lamb, goat, barbacoa, chorizo - but I have enough. Too hungry to wait to go home, I sit down to eat. Two tacos - huge! The best was the barbacoa - tasty little carmelized deeply flavored meat bits. Hey - don't go expecting American extras like sour cream or cheese. This is the real thing. Warming: one taco will do you. Got a side of rice and beans - yum. Don Lucho is a treasure. It is authentic, mom and pop, and these are the businesses I love to support. For an incredible adventure and source of authentic carnitas, git yourself down to da south side ya day hair and ENJOY!!!!!!
