    Carne asada and lengua tacos
    Karen C.

We've seen this taco truck around for years now, but never remembered to drop by when we're on our way to get a bite to eat. But for the last few weeks, it has been on the forefront of our minds, and boy did they NOT disappoint. Regrets for all those days that ended in "y" that we didn't go here for tacos! It's a simple menu: tacos, quesadillas, tortas, and burritos with your choice of meat (al pastor, cabeza, lengua, pollo, chorizo, tripita, and carne asada). You order by the taco, so I tried al pastor, lengua, and chorizo garnished with onions and cilantro. (You can add lettuce and cheese if you want to gringo/a it up!) The al pastor was moist and flavorful - couldn't really make out a citrus flavor, but your girl was HANGRY so it was a two bite situation! The lengua was so tender, just a little on the greasy side, and the chorizo had great flavor with just the mildest hint of heat. All the tacos came with two types of salsa - green chile one which is quite spicy and a red salsa that seemed arbol chile-based and really tasty. I poured the red salsa all over my tacos. Oh, and let's not forget the surprise caramelized onions and charred jalapeños (not pickled). Can't wait to come back to try the frijoles charros after reading about all the good reviews on it! And I'll try to come back when I'm not so hungry that scarfing down tacos is the only option :D

I was here running some errands at the grocery store while I saw the food truck and would like to give it a try. There were quite some people already lined up to order, so I waited a while to order and get my food. I had the 5 mini-taco plate. Just by seeing the tacos, it is not difficult to tell that they are very authentic Mexican style. Double soft shells, with cilantro, onions, and you can also have a jalapeño. The plate came with five tacos and you could choose up to three flavors (chicken, steak, pork, chorizo, etc.) it also came with both red and green chili sauces. I really enjoyed the rich flavor and the tenderness of the meat. The shells were also very corny and the flavor from the meat has penetrated the shell and make it really the next-level. The price is also fair ($8.5 for 5 mini tacos). I would definitely come back again and would like to recommend it to everyone who wants to have some authentic but cheap Mexican tacos!

If you are looking for something fast and cheap, look no further. But if you are looking for something not only fast and cheap, but also with lots of vegetarian options, and environmentally friendly serving supplies, this may not be the best place for you. It is a meat-forward truck that serves everything on Styrofoam plates and plastic bags. I got the tostada sans-meat. And at that point it was just lettuce, cheese, tomato, avocado, onion, and cilantro. Definitely not the worst, but it could've been better had there been beans or rice or something (the beans aren't vegetarian friendly because they are made with meat). One of my friends got the torta and loved it. Another friend got two tacos and also enjoyed them. Don't be afraid to douse everything in a liberal amount of sauce. They are very flavorful! Given the price, I don't have much to complain about. Plus, we got to eat on the side of the river watching people kayak past. What's not to love about that?

Nothing like sitting by the river with a good al pastor taco! My coworkers frequent this taco truck and I finally joined them one day. Cash only, and tacos are $2/piece but there are other options too. The pork was tender, the two salsa options were flavorful y picante, and service was fairly quick. However, not all of our plates got the onion and pepper and I would like to see the plates be something other than Styrofoam, and nix the plastic bags. A recycling station to be attached to the truck or on the sidewalk would be great! Overall, great value and tasty!

Hands down, the best tacos in town! Cheap (only $2), fast, and delicious. I always do the Al Pastor. And I eat here almost daily.

I loved the variety of the menu, especially the vegetarian options, which are hard to come by in a lot of Mexican restaurants. In the past few years since I've moved back to Milwaukee, I've eaten at this location several times. It's about 6 blocks from my house and I still find veggie Mexican options to be rarer than I'd like. Generally the food is good, if no longer great. I wonder if their expansion and success has spread them thin over the years. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes it's like an afterthought. I've also ordered delivery from them many times and it's been generally fine, but not often great. Tonight I ordered delivery, paid extra for expedited service, and I really just wanted some good cheese and onion enchiladas. The delivery time was quick. Despite that, my food was cold. My black beans - literally cold. The cheese enchiladas - um, the cheese on top wasn't even melted. The rice had no flavor at all, like it could have literally been plain white, tepid rice. So I don't know what is going on at Cafe Corazon, but it's just not good anymore and that makes me really sad.

We'd been coming to Central Waters for a while, when one night we found ourselves hungry. Since Troublemakers Cocina was open, we gave it a try. We've been hooked ever since! Plus you can have a scrumptious beer from Central Waters while you wait for your beeper to go off. And the setting is in an old gorgeous church converted into a brewery/event space. You can't beat that ambiance! Prices are reasonable, the space is clean, and there is plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. And there are screens for watching games. Get here early - parking sucks, and suburbanites will freak out at the hood, but no worries Jesus is right next door at St. Josaphats basilica and will watch over you. And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh. There's about 6 different amazing salsas to try. Smoky, fresh, green, red, hot sweet - I get two for the weekend. I consider a quart of menudo. I think about. Lamb, goat, barbacoa, chorizo - but I have enough. Too hungry to wait to go home, I sit down to eat. Two tacos - huge! The best was the barbacoa - tasty little carmelized deeply flavored meat bits. Hey - don't go expecting American extras like sour cream or cheese. This is the real thing. Warming: one taco will do you. Got a side of rice and beans - yum. Don Lucho is a treasure. It is authentic, mom and pop, and these are the businesses I love to support.
