    Taco Salad

The flavors of everything that they make are amazing! The name La salsa fits perfectly because they indeed have the best salsa with a little kick of spicy.Service it's always good. They open a new outdoor patio which a great addition to the restaurant atmosphere especially today Cinco de Mayo as it was super busy. The taco salad was so delicious, the guacamole on top was excellent and fresh. The Steak a la Mexicana meat was tender tasty the combination with rice and refried beans just perfect!! I had an horchata for a drink that was not as good but ok. Overall love the place!!!

Our go to Mexican restaurant has all the staples and hits every time. The staff are nice and the service is quick. We come here to get a margarita and enchiladas normally. We've tried multiple things from the menu and that's our favorite. Lots of seating so that's never a problem.

I decided to use up another bookmark and stop here for a cocktail and some lunch today while I was out and about. The place has its own parking lot which is nice but you can also street park. The place is split with two small dining rooms and a bar in the back, I ate at the bar this time because I'm kinda getting used to it. The menu has all the usual suspects I noticed so I ordered the #2 combination plate. My lime margarita on the rocks came in a tall frosty glass which I liked. I was instantly greeted and given a menu, salsa and chips while I placed my drink order. The salsa was good that was semi chunky with some heat and the chips were warm and crisp. The #2 combo dinner is pork tamale, cheese enchilada and a ground beef chimichanga with a salad and rice/beans. The beans were very loose and the rice was cooked perfect that I poured the salsa on and mixed it all together that was tasty. The cheese enchilada was covered in a red sauce and cheese which was ok. The pork tamales was also covered in a red sauce which had plenty of pork and not to much masa. The ground beef chimichanga had enough meat and melty cheese in and also good. Overall my food was cooked hot to order and tasty with great service so I have no complaints and enjoyed my lunch.

    Carne a la Zamora

I got carry out from La Salsa tonight and it was absolutely delicious! Or, as the young people say, it was fire. The photo of the meal inside the carry out box and taken in my poorly lit living room can't come close to doing justice to the incredible flavor and comfort of this food. I am going to start coming here more often! Today, I tried a new dish ( to me). I got carne a la Zamora. Holy balls it was sooooo good! Carne asada, beans, banana pepper, onions, guacamole, cheese quesadilla and potatoes in a delish red sauce. And I love onions! This was one of those meals where you get full but it's so good and you know the leftovers won't be as good as the original so you take one more bite and one more bite even though you're full. Hey, I don't always make the best life choices, what can I say?! Customer service here was superb too! I called to place my carry out order and the woman on the phone was happy to take my order even though they were closing in a few minutes. When I arrived to pick up my food, she was just as friendly and kind. So many of us always get the same thing, right?! I love tacos too, I really do! But, I love to completely try a new dish like I did today. I think I'll do that again! And, I've got a slice of flan for dessert that I'll be getting to later tonight. Yumm!

    Tacos de pastor.

Ok, finally a good taco on the road. They said the tacos were small, now I have 2 tacos for breakfast. Pastor was full flavor and juicy. Grilled tortillas. Onion and plenty of cilantro. Lime juice amped them up. Good stop for dinner. #spicemeister approved!

    Mushy nasty chilaquiles

This restaurant is terrible. The waitress on our first experience at the restaurant was very dry face and rude , as if she did not want to be there. I ordered the chilaquiles plate with steak and the sauce was pasty and bland. The tortillas were mushy and not well cooked. The horchata was heavy tasting as if it was sitting for days. My gf had the torta and the bread kept falling apart and it looked as if the bread wasn't evenly cut. Meat was salty and dry. On top of all that, the food was costly for being that crappy and bad tasting. Almost $50 dollars for two plates and drinks. I do not recommended this restaurant.

The food is standard Mexican fair. I had the uno combination. The enchilada was the best out the 3. Solid but, not the wow wasn't there. Service was slow and the wait staff didn't check in to see if I liked my meal. They were slow, it was lunch time so maybe that is just how they operate. They have put together a fun environment. Lots of space for big groups. So much potential if the effort was there.

I loved the variety of the menu, especially the vegetarian options, which are hard to come by in a lot of Mexican restaurants. In the past few years since I've moved back to Milwaukee, I've eaten at this location several times. It's about 6 blocks from my house and I still find veggie Mexican options to be rarer than I'd like. Generally the food is good, if no longer great. I wonder if their expansion and success has spread them thin over the years. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes it's like an afterthought. I've also ordered delivery from them many times and it's been generally fine, but not often great. Tonight I ordered delivery, paid extra for expedited service, and I really just wanted some good cheese and onion enchiladas. The delivery time was quick. Despite that, my food was cold. My black beans - literally cold. The cheese enchiladas - um, the cheese on top wasn't even melted. The rice had no flavor at all, like it could have literally been plain white, tepid rice. So I don't know what is going on at Cafe Corazon, but it's just not good anymore and that makes me really sad.

Get here early - parking sucks, and suburbanites will freak out at the hood, but no worries Jesus is right next door at St. Josaphats basilica and will watch over you. And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh. There's about 6 different amazing salsas to try. Smoky, fresh, green, red, hot sweet - I get two for the weekend. I consider a quart of menudo. I think about. Lamb, goat, barbacoa, chorizo - but I have enough. Too hungry to wait to go home, I sit down to eat. Two tacos - huge! The best was the barbacoa - tasty little carmelized deeply flavored meat bits. Hey - don't go expecting American extras like sour cream or cheese. This is the real thing. Warming: one taco will do you. Got a side of rice and beans - yum. Don Lucho is a treasure. It is authentic, mom and pop, and these are the businesses I love to support.
