This was our third visit. It took a very very long time to get someone to bring drinks then again to come to take our order. We had our chips completely eaten by that time. Like 25-30 minutes just to order food. Ordered a child taco and burrito but they brought an enchilada by mistake. Refills on some drinks were free and others we were charged for even though drinks were only partially gone. Steak was very grisly and easily consisted of more fat than meat. It was also ordered medium but came well done. No one asked how the food was, so there was no one to tell. Tortillas in foil were a bit cold and hard. The food is tasty so that's why the review isn't lower. Booths are not bolted down so if you try to get up, they can move and slide around. We will try another day and maybe ask more detailed questions before paying $4 for 4 ounces of liquid.

My family and I were devastated when La Chimenea in Germantown closed in 2018 and were not impressed the one time we ate at Matteo's after it opened in 2022, so we were looking forward to trying Sol-Agave after it opened in summer 2024. I got a chicken and shrimp burrito, my wife got a cheese quesadilla, one kid got taquitos, and the other kid got a cheeseburger. My wife thought her quesadilla was fine, but nothing special. Unlike me, she liked the rice (I thought it had an odd flavor). The kid that got taquitos didn't like them and I thought the bite I tried was super bland. The kid with the cheeseburger ate it without complaints. My wife didn't like the chips we were given, but the kids and I did (I thought they were fantastic). In my large burrito there were only four shrimp (although they were big ones) and the rest of the filling was chunks of fajita chicken instead of shredded chicken like I guess I was expecting given my limited experience with chicken in burritos at non-fast food Mexican restaurants. The chicken had some marinade/seasoning, but not enough in my opinion. The cheese sauce on top of the burrito was ok. Our search for a Mexican restaurant to replace La Chimenea continues. Like Matteo's, Sol-Agave isn't the answer.

First time trying Sol Agave in Germantown. We ordered the margaritas on the rocks - medium size and they were huge and came in a big goblet! Very tasty! Chips and salsa is provided at the table and refills are available. The chips were authentic and the salsa was so good with a nice amount of kick. I ordered the fajitas Acapulco and it included shrimp, scallops and chicken with plenty of onions and peppers. The shrimp were nice sized and the dish was fantastic. Overall the ambience was very nice and not too loud for a Saturday night. The service was outstanding and they kept our drinks always full and the chips and salsa coming. Highly recommend anyone in the area to visit this establishment.

Mexican food is my favorite and I would eat it every day if I could. I have eaten many places but this place isn't it. The best thing about my meal was my spicy margarita. It had a cute little umbrella in it. My tacos al pastor were very fatty. I didn't eat most of the meat. My friend had the steak tacos and he said they tasted like the meat was overcooked. Our server only came over once to check on us before we even took bites and never came back. It has potential but needs to work on their food.

Came back for lunch, excellent service, absolute love the salsa here, and tried the guac for the first time and it was very good. Had the quesabirria tacos and liked them a lot, will keep working my way through the menu. My friend enjoyed the verde enchiladas, huge portion sizes here also, you either leave stuffed or with another meal for home!

This place is great, you get a lot of bang for your buck with great service and very solid Mexican food for this area. Have been here multiple times and always left very full with good food. Today (and most times) I got the Texas cheese steak which always has so much meat in it and is super filling. Overall this place is great but the food really doesn't taste good enough to give it a 5 but I will come back again and again.

    Modern Mexican vibe

Plenty of employees make this upbeat Mexican restaurant a pleasant first impression. The service was fast and friendly. The food was simply delicious. All your favs, but then a lot of amazing specialty dishes. The music played at a moderate level was enjoyable. The decor has a modern vibe, with art that pays homage to the great Mexican traditions.

We had a very good experience at our first time at Sol agave. We both had the fajitas, the service was very quick, the food was very fresh. The chips and salsa were top-flight and we ordered extra salsa to go. We enjoyed our first experienceat this new restaurant in the heart of Germantown and we will be back

Food was great, and our waitress was super nice! The only negative was our guac was super salty, but we will definitely be back!

At the last minute I thought about the 4 stars compared to the top 2 and I ended up here. The decor is bright colors and sinister murals on all the walls which might scare small children. Service was excellent and everything was on my table in a timely manner. My strawberry margarita didn't have a big strawberry flavor but it was a nice pour and not watered down. I was brought chips and salsa as I ordered a blended strawberry margarita. The chips were spot on because they were warm/thin fresh and seasoned nicely. I'm torn on the salsas because you get one hot and one mild. The hot was fresh made chunky with nice heat while the mild was a purée style with good flavor and I think for the first time there was no winner because they were equally very good in their own ways. I ordered the #2 Mexican combination which is 1 chicken enchilada topped in red sauce that looked more brown, 1 taco Al pastor topped with onions, cilantro and a pineapple strip and one steak sope that comes with rice and choice of beans and sour cream. The plate looked delicious. Nothing was super seasoned but it was flavorful. The first thing I noticed was my food was hot but burn your mouth hot. The second thing I noticed while tasting the meats on their own was they were all moist/fresh. The whole plate was delicious. My overall my thoughts is that they are doing everything pretty well with flavors and food temperature and they got their game together, nice job.

The drink menu was fun but I chose the Kudlata because I can't resist a Caipirinha. Made to perfection & served up in a lovely glass too! The tacos though is where I was wow'd... handmade tortillas made with heirloom blue corn masa! Come on! These tortillas were something special & elevated our tacos beyond any tacos I've had locally. Knowing I wanted to save room for purple door ice cream across the way, I had only two tacos but they were more than filling. The carnitas taco had a nice spice to it, being my favorite but the steak taco didn't disappoint either. We enjoyed getting to hear what the owner was planning in months ahead so we'll be back to see how the menu changes. Very friendly & welcoming experience with authentic food & drink I could appreciate any day of the week!

We ordered 2 cocktails and some chips and guac to start. They were served up quick and were delicious. The highlight of the margarita was the black salted rim. Incredibly tasty. We followed up drinks and the apps with the steak and carnita tacos. The highlight was the blue corn tortillas that paired perfectly with the flavors of steak and pork. All the flavors were well balanced with the smokiness of the toasted tortillas. The owner talked about some new menu updates in a few weeks. We'll be back to give those a try for sure.
