Stopped for dinner on a Tuesday night. It was around 7:15 PM. Ate at the bar when we realized they closed at 8 PM. Our food was very good, nicely presented, and they did not rush us when 8 PM came and went. Refreshing Paloma cocktail. Excellent Shrimp Ceviche, Chili Relleno, and the #1 combo meal. Had enough leftovers for another meal. Service was attentive and friendly. Never been here before. The place is very dated and dingy. The food sucked and lacked flavor, no Mole sauce. I did not even finish my enchiladas. This meal did not sit well with me as I had to run to the toilet when I got home and crapped it out all nasty like. Had a Clip coupon so always looking for a good Mexican joint cuz many are not that good. Got hassled because I had a clip coupon. The server wanted to argue with me about the coupon. I've been coming to Los Mariachi's for over 15 years. My family has had my 40th and 50th birthday parties there and my wife had her 50th birthday party there. Free Hall with their catering was awesome. There have been a few times over the years the food wasn't up to their usual standards,but in general they have been very good and consistent. The portions are very good, price was really the best pre COVID, but then again, a lot of places where. I now live an hour away but I will still make the trip to enjoy their food. This was one of my absolute favorite places to eat since moving to Milwaukee in 2020. However, the last experience I had here was the worst ever and I don't think I will be returning. There was a time when this place was so great that I would eat there sometimes twice a week. Yesterday, my family and I came in for dinner and were seated right away. The waitress greeted us and grabbed us drinks but didn't come back to take our order for about 25-30 minutes yet kept checking on the other tables and taking other orders from people who had come in even after us. We were almost about to walk out but decided to stay regardless. Our order was finally taken after waving her down and the food delivered soon after. My little sister found a very sharp metal object in her food, almost razor like. This was brought to managements attention but it didn't seem like she was too worried. Needless to say none of us really wanted to continue eating at that point and this meal felt like a waste of money. Mariachis was really my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. They clearly forgot about my order and and when asked, the guy just says "yeah, yeah, yeah, we're busy"....after nearly a half hour of me waiting for my food. They did not care that people 25 spots behind me in line were getting served the SAME EXACT 2 ITEMS I ORDERED ahead of Me. All in i wasted almost an hour of my time I was supposed to be spending with my wife and kids just waiting for food that these people forgot about, but would not admit they forgot about. Same thing happened to several other upset customers I interacted with who were also waiting for food for absurd amounts of time. I too was lured in here by the attractive and inviting murals on the outside, and hey, it's called "Los Mariachis," that sounds so festive. It's really more of a diner serving Gringo Mexican-American, and the dated interior is set up for Friday and Saturday night middle aged classic rock dancing. They have some beautiful carved wooden table tops though. The evening dinner prices a little high, especially in a town that has so many more authentic Mexican choices, and Anglo style pseudo Mexican with fancier decor. Lunch on the other hand is a great deal here, they have a good selection of lunch specials. Service was terrible. Food was decent. Better for takeout or delivery. The interior is less than impressive. From the stale smell in the entryway to the sad looking looking dining room, it could all use an update. Perhaps add a bit of character like you'd expect from the murals outside. I'd say we sat 10 minutes without being acknowledged. Eventually they brought around chips and salsa - perhaps the generous amount were because they knew they wouldn't be back anytime soon. It was another 10 minutes later before we ordered food. Worth noting it was late Saturday afternoon and far from busy. The food came and we asked for a small plate and sour cream which never came. Had to go to the kitchen to finally get their attention. Had the chicken fajitas which were pretty good as vegetables were quite tasty. This is my second Mexican restaurant to go to . It needs remodeling but it is what it is. The food is hot and pretty good . They have good lunch specials during the week. The chimichangas are good sized. They have a separated bar area with specials as well. Waitstaff are sporting masks and sanitizer is available but smells like tequila fyi. Its a smaller space but have separated tables for safety. Waitress was nice and did a good job. Nothing fancy just pretty good filling food. read more

A guy at work raves about this place and he is all ways telling me to go here but I don't trust his judgment because he also says a certain pool hall in town has good Mexican food. I put it off for a long time but today this was my lunch spot and I knew something was off for 3/4 of the place empty on a Saturday at 1 pm. The parking lot is very small compared to how big the inside was, no way if the place was full you would park at least a block away. The place is typical Mexican decor with a bar and dance/band area to the right and to the left booths and tables. There is lots of wood and brick to give the feel of a Mexican villa with carved tables and glass tops. Yes your servers name is on the end of the tabla if you have problems remembering people's names. I experienced no service issue and Carolyn came around enough to be helpful and not bothersome. I started with chips and salsa which came over right away and I ordered a margarita on the rocks. The chips were house made and very fresh but not seasoned. The house made salsas were good but only the hot worked for me because the mild was boring. The hot was not super hot but enough to make my nose run and I didn't leave a drop. The margarita was average at best and came in a full glass. I have been craving a steak burrito for some time now and that would be what I would order. It comes with beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream and a small salad. I will post pictures. At first glance I thought they messed up and gave me an quesadilla dinner because this was the smallest/flattest burrito I have ever been served from a Mexican place, see the picture. The steak burrito was barely taller than the sides on my plate and I was disappointed. The steak burrito only has a small amount steak, grilled onions and tomatoes inside it which looks like a slightly bigger enchilada or a quesadilla. The presentation for the steak burrito dinner was nicer than most Mexican places. The steak was juicy and slightly seasoned that is chopped into tiny pieces with no fat or gristle in my plate.The beans were ok and slightly seasoned. The rice was ok also. Everything tasted ok. Over all the steak burrito was disappointing because of its size. This is an average Mexican place that will not replace anyone of Milwaukee's finest ones that most people agree on. I would not say don't eat here because it's not horrible but I wouldn't drive over as a destination restaurant. read more

Dont care total commute for going to get meal would be 30 minutes. So much for eating as family. Now granted we ate. Absolutely, hands down, my favorite mexican restaurant. The building exterior interior are kind of shady looking so the first time I came, I wasn't expecting much. To sum up the food in one word: fresh. The chips and fresh salsa are some of my favorite as well. The hot salsa isn't as hot as I'd like but still has a good spice to it. The steak fajitas are A M A Z I N G. Their steak is soooooooo flavorful ! The flour tortillas I think are handmade there.... they definitely didn't come out of the refrigerator. The cheese they give you for the fajitas is freshly shredded right from a block of cheese. I always very much enjoy the enchiladas. Combined with those incredible tortillas, the cheese and sauces of the enchilada are fantastic. I echo Gabriel P's review that the food is savory and they use upper level ingredients as opposed to processed foods. read more

I had to wait for about 20 minutes before I had a waitress take my order, I was sitting at the bar. Apparently the bar tender can't take food orders. Anyhow another 30 minutes passed and I finally got my food. I ordered chicken fajitas ~ they were good. I came here specifically to listen to the band for some entertainment on a Friday evening. Will have to say they were worth the frustration of wait staff. It was not busy and they had more than enough staff for all at the restaurant. My amusement came when a couple sat down close to me and had waited a good 10 minutes for a drink order and they reached over to take the chips and salsa left by another customer. read more

Confusing menu. The menu items are numbered like fast food and they all look fairly the same on the plate. Has a family diner feel but was fairly underwhelming. Beautiful wooden dance floor, will have to come on a night they use it. Food was heavy and sat in the gut, no matter what we ordered. The entire experience was overwhelmingly "eh". Last time we came, our waiter was snarky and rude and made absolutely no effort to accommodate us. When asked questions he gave vague answers that lead to incorrect orders. Never offered to refill drinks, never asked how the meal was, never cared. Everything in the restaurant feels a bit grimy and I'm tempted to call an inspector. Nothing felt like it was cleaned. The salsa is excellent here, lunch specials are great! I highly recommend for lunch! However the Mexican food here is not as authentic as I would of hoped very Americanized. Not sure I would want to pay full price for a dish from here but for a lunch it was great. I had Los Mariachis bookmarked for the longest time. We were in the area today and decided to take it off my "to try" list. From the outside, I thought I was in for a exceptional experience. The inside is very dark and lit by red and green lights. Maybe let over from the Christmas season? There were no windows either. The bar was large, which is good. But the focal point was a dance floor that took up 1/3 of the restaurant. Did I just land lunch at a club? Granted there wasn't DJ Pauly D spinning, but it was out of place. Clearly their money maker lies during dancing hours. After sitting down at a table with fake flowers that needed a good pitch to the can, we were greeted by our server. I still don't know why they had his name laminated and placed at the end of our table. I've never seen that done before, but whatever. The menu was full of the Mexican staples found on most menus. I went with my chicken enchiladas. They were smothered in red sauce and cheese and full of white chicken breast. My entree could have been hotter (as in the temperature). Prices were on the higher side. Twelve bucks for enchiladas in this place was laughable. I would have been fine with eight or nine. Then the kicker was when I asked for sour cream and got charged $1.50. But, the place was a dive bomb. It needs major repairs and some TLC. The inside is not representative of the outside. Turn on the lights! But then again, maybe I really don't want to see what the place really looks like. I'll just leave it at that. Would I go back? No. It wasn't impressive enough. Eh. The last time we stopped here will probably be the last time we go here. We stopped in after a trip out of town (it was on the way back from the airport, which was convenient for us). We walked in and had to wait for the hostess to show up and seat us. We waited around to get some waters and menus. So far, not really happy about the service, but from times we've visited in the past, that's par for the course. Finally, our waitress showed up - we were able to get our drinks and orders in. I had the chicken enchiladas, which arrived cold and soggy. There was a lot of gristle and found a hard piece (bone) in one bite. I'm glad I didn't break any teeth with that one! Needless to say, their overpriced food, iffy service, and watered down margaritas were just too much for this gal. If they re-tooled their service and took a hard look at their menu / preparation, I'd consider going back. In the meantime, it almost seems more depressing each time we go. Honestly, there's plenty of other GOOD Mexican restaurants to visit, so we'll probably stay away a while. read more

We visited Los Mariachis for lunch today. It was kind of creepy, like it was abandoned, envision the scene from Roadhouse when he finds his buddy dead. There was music playing and no customers. The server was also the hostess but she managed the crowd well. She was really friendly and took good care of us. The food is fresh and very tasty. We both had enchiladas. I remember when they first opened, we were regulars. Great food and huge portions for the money. As time wet on, prices went up and portions and quality went way down. Fast forward to present day... New owners for a while now and you really won't see tons of change. Menu has a good selection. Bar area has been updated and they offer happy hour specials. These specials are only about $0.50 off though so not really something to rush in for. They offer a free taco bar during happy hour and that is pretty nice to munch on while drinking your margaritas. Saturday nights they have live music and dancing and we stumbled across it by accident but glad we did. Seems it's quite the hot spot even though we were the youngest ones in there - still had lots of fun. If you get there before 8pm you can skip the cover charge. Food was good, service was so so. After we were done with our meal our waitress disappeared and we had to continue to order our drinks by going to the bar. Felt pretty dropped at that point. Overall, if you are looking for a fun place to check out on a Saturday night to hear live music and get some dancing in - definitely check it out. read more
