Very thankful for their parking lot in an otherwise street parking only area. Interior is very colorful as with many Mexican restaurants. They have a sky painted on their ceiling, perhaps to go along with their name, literally translated as "beautiful sky". First batch of chips and salsa comes complimentary as you're browsing the menu. In general their taco meats don't feel totally authentic and they skip all the exotic meat options and stick to good old pork, steak, chicken or ground beef. They also default to tacos with lettuce and tomatoes, but will ask if you want cilantro and onions. So I usually skip the tacos here and go for their plates. Molcajete is wonderful. It's got everything you want in a stone bowl and it goes a long way. The Bistec Perron, skirt steak with onions and jalapeño peppers (actually, just one pepper), has become one of my go-to Mexican dishes since being on keto, and is pretty delicious here. Menudo - I try this dish at all my favorite Mexican restaurants. I still haven't found a place that makes it as good as I remember it from California, but Cielito's menudo is the best one I've found in Milwaukee (and Racine, where my otherwise favorite Mexican restaurant lies). I got a large order of food items for delivery via postmates around 10pm on a Friday night. Here's what I got: Ps every item came with a bit of a pico de gallo style salsa. It had a thin base with some fresh pieces of onions and cilantro. It was very delicious. It had the same sort of salsa flavor as jar / canned types except I could taste that it was fresher. Especially with those fresh onion - cilantro - tomato bits added to it. I really liked it. They also came with a thinner salsa that had bits of seeds in it, this salsa was understandably spicy. Don't get them confused!! 1. Cheese nachos ($14.29) - - a small portion, great for one to two people - mine came with guacamole and I think maybe it's because I ordered so much food so close to closing time?? I don't know! I am very happy that they included it because it didn't say that in the menu and I was so torn about upgrading to the supreme nachos in order to get guac with it!! Very happy. - jalapeños were a tiny bit spicy for me but manageable (easy to remove if too much for you!) - small though appropriate amount of cheese no complaints, same with the beans. I tend to like mine with a lot of it. - sour cream was nice, the guac was also flavorful - overall the nachos aren't anything special and they are enjoyable. I would probably order them again if ordering from here. 2. Taco Dinner ($18.19) - the rice had good flavor - beans were just okay - I like that it came with 3 pieces of lime - the tacos were double wrapped with tortillas to keep the integrity of the taco so that was nice - the vegetables in the veggie tacos included: rice, beans, avocado slice, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese. I definitely would've liked and even paid extra to be able to add more fresh cooked veggies like bell peppers and mushrooms to this instead of rice. 3. Cheese Dip ($7.79) Big fan. The cheese dip was one single consistently and had a mild jalapeño spice to it. The flavor reminded me of some sort of jar of Tostitos dip except I know that this one is made of real fresh ingredients because of the way the cheese hardens as it cools. So you gotta reheat the cheese to keep it melty. That's some nice dip!! It went PERFFFFECT with the fries. I would HIGHLY recommend getting a side of fries to go with this. 4. Order of Fries ($5.19) They were nice and oily and fried goodness. I dipped them in the cheese dip that I ordered separately and it was soooo good together. 5. Flan ($5.19) The whipped cream on top melted in transit so that made it look a little funny on delivery. It definitely made up for that in taste. It was gelatinous and delicious. All of my food tended to be on the lighter side of saltiness. I think this is a good thing because salt isn't great for a lot of people but it would've tasted better with more. I would recommend asking for it if you like it specifically because I appreciate them keeping their baseline food light on the salt! Hope this was helpful! read more

We've driven by this place for years and finally decided to stop in and I'm so glad we did. The service was phenomenal, the margaritas-delicious, and the food was so good. Because it was our first visit, we went ala carte to in order to try a few different things: Steak tacos, chicken enchiladas, chicken chimichanga, rice, beans- all delicious and made perfectly to order. There is so much discussion in this city about who has the best or most authentic- fill in the blank- and I can't believe it took us this long to get in here. Portions were big, but . . . . Will I come back? No. The only reason we went here was because it was a Tuesday and Le Case de Alberto is closed on Tuesdays. We have been going here for years. I've probably been here at least 20 times. The food is consistent and awesome. I don't venture too far outside of my favorite meals, but we go with an entire family and everybody gets different types of food. Everybody loves what they have. The servers are always incredibly sweet and nice. Always the nicest people. The chips are always placed without being asked, drinks replaced quickly, and the food is served hot and ready to go. If this review had a title it would be Holy Mole! The boyfriend and I both ordered mole. Mine was the chicken enchiladas and his the chicken mole plate dinner. We both really liked the mole, it was slightly sweet and peanutty with a little spice, not smoky or chocolaty. I liked how the cheese was melted into crispy cheese chips around my enchiladas. This has been a long time bookmark and I went over for lunch today because they were open on the 4th of July. The place has a small parking lot which is nice or it's street parking with an entrance from the lot. The place itself was nice and colorful with murals on the walls and ceilings. In the back is a nice little bar where I placed my to go order with the friendly woman who took my order. I looked the big menu over and saw the lunch specials so I opted for the two tacos with rice and beans which was perfect because I didn't want a huge lunch. I opted for one steak and one pork on corn tortillas with cilantro and onion. My lunch came pretty quick and I was on my way. The two taco lunch special looked and smelled good so I tasted a piece of the steak and I immediately thought how unseasoned and dry the meat was. Up next was a piece of the pork and that was even dryer with a hard texture like it has sat out for hours. The hot sauce was definitely going into the tacos. The steak taco was up first and and it was ok but it was dry and unimpressive. The pork taco was even worse with bigger chunks of dry hard pork, see my picture of a chunk of the pork. The beans were super smooth with cheese on top but bland and not seasoned like like the taco meat. The rice was under cooked with a slight crunchy texture and bland again. WOW this was totally unexpected given the four stars and just the opposite of my last Mexican lunch at Lala's place where the food was seasoned/flavorful/delicious. I will definitely not be back because the food quality is lacking compared to other Milwaukee Mexican restaurants and the taco meat was not cooked to order, that's a shame. read more

This is one of those places that falls into the category of: wish I had tried it while I lived closer to it! I've only gotten takeout here a few times but the food was really good every time. A few of those times I enjoyed a beer at the bar while I waited and I was able to enjoy the atmosphere as well. The staff is friendly and the decor is lovely, honestly one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to during my short time living in MKE area. Ever get stuck - you know, in your head - trying to figure out how many stars to give? That's me. Here. Four or Five? Allow me to explain. First - we did some research. Being near UW-M, we wanted to have Mexican food (carry-out). Nothing nearby seemed to be what we wanted, but the menu for Cielito Lindo looked nice. Not being a long drive, we went for it. We arrived to find the restaurant is small. Quaint, really. Inside, it was clean, bright and colorful. Really nice! The staff were very busy, but didn't hesitate to make sure we were taken care of. Our food wasn't ready, so we had a seat and took in the scene. Again - hard working staff, very friendly. The food came out quickly, and we were on our way. At home, we dug in. The enchiladas mole were very good. The dinner was filling and satisfying, with good flavor. My wife got a ground beef burrito, which she said "I'd have that again" (which is high praise). She did note that the mole was spicier than expected (to which I agreed), but okay. My son had the fajitas and they looked really good - but, like most places, not nearly enough tortillas (especially these tiny ones). I tried a bite, and they were tasty. So, honestly, I'd say this place was more like four stars, with the potential to be five (like, if we ate there and had it fresh from the kitchen). I'd love to try more items from their menu! Came to Cielito Lindo with a large group on a Saturday night. They're a busy spot, but they also have plenty of seating. We called a few minutes ahead and were able to secure a table for eight. We started with their house margarita. I didn't notice there being a ton of tequila options (I typically like choose my tequila for my margarita) but it was well made none-the-less. The food was well priced, tasty, and served in ample portions. Their chicken is juicy but a skosh bit blander than I typically prefer. Beyond that, we were pleased with everything. Their rice and beans are top notch. The service was quick with our server keeping up with our table and separate checks like a champ. And, hey...they're open until 4am on the weekends! We come to Milwaukee annually for the Mexican Fiesta. We always eat here a couple of times and it never disappoints. They have a small parking lot but there's also street parking. We never have too much problem finding a place to park. Now for the food! It's absolutely delicious! On day 1, I got the chicken and mole. This mole is some of the best I've had. There's plenty of sauce to mix in with the rice. On day 2, I had the beef caldo. Again, it was very tasty and it had plenty of meat. The weekend we were here, they were short staffed. The restaurant was hopping and waitresses were working their tail off. The service was good and the waitresses friendly. If you're in Milwaukee, you definitely want to eat here. read more

My partner and I popped in here before a concert at the Rave on a Wednesday night, and we had a great experience. Prior to eating in-person at the restaurant, we've ordered takeout from here several times-- the food is always great quality, and the portions are generous. We have enough food for at least a few meals with just a normal order of a taco dinner and one of their specialties, such as enchiladas or quesadillas, and they also come with chips and a large amount of salsa. On a side note, this place has THE best salsa I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant here in Milwaukee. It's not too spicy or sweet, but it has the perfect amount of mild kick to it that it's much better than something you get from the grocery store, and it isn't as hot as most other restaurants' main salsas. I also like my salsa a little more runny with chunks of tomatoes and onions here and there, and that's exactly how their 'normal' salsa is. My partner does prefer her salsa to be hotter though, and that is an option you can ask for as well along with the 'normal' salsa. With the positive experiences we had through take-out, we wanted to stop here and eat in person. From the outside, it doesn't look like much--just another hole-in-the-wall restaurant honestly, but we did appreciate the fact that they have their own private parking lot next to the building for their customers to park in. Several other restaurants in the same neighborhood have no parking whatsoever, so it was nice to not have to scour for street parking. The inside is beautiful--the walls are covered in murals relating to Mexican culture and history, and they were colorful, bright, and well-constructed artistically. The tops of the walls are also painted so that it looks like the restaurant is inside a Mayan temple or pyramid, so it adds an awesome ambiance to the meal. The bar was hopping, the staff was laughing and having a good time with each other and with customers, and our waitress was great. She made some recommendations that my partner went with, but I stuck with the same meal I usually get from here--a taco dinner with ground beef, cilantro, and onions on the tacos, and a double order of rice instead of rice and beans. The tacos are always cooked perfectly and filled to the brim with toppings, and their rice is a step above other Mexican restaurants in the area in terms of having a richer, more-filling taste. The meal also came with free salsa and chips beforehand, and my partner had a tasty margarita while I had a Dos Equis to drink. Combining the quality of the food with the convenient parking situation, awesome interior design, and great staff makes this an easy 5-star restaurant for me, and we'll continue coming here many times in the future. read more

I had been really craving a margarita today after the last few weeks of heat waves. My craving was completely satisfied here. My margarita was incredible...I even had a second! The service is always great, everyone is super friendly. The food is always on point! One of my most favorite things to have is the Coctel de camaron! It the absolute best! I bring my nephews here every summer for a fantastic lunch. These boys love shrimp and also enjoy the Coctel de camaron along with the shrimp quesadilla and the al pastor tacos! You can get avocado, of course, but I asked for mushroom, off menu, for the tacos, and those were good. I also asked if they could do cactus tacos (off menu), and after a lot of back and forth--some language issues and questions of the kitchen, it was a yes. These were excellent. Three weeks later, tried to order cactus with the enchiladas. I was assured, by the server, they didn't have that. I explained I'd just gotten it there. She went to the kitchen and returned with, "Ok." The servers have been very attentive and the food comes fast. Was crowded on a Thursday night at 7:45, so don't take getting a table for granted.
