    Carne Asada Burrito

I had no idea this existed but now that I know, I'll definitely be back. I was craving a burrito and stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad I did! I ordered an asada burrito and it was so good that I finished it in one sitting! They also give chips and salsa which was a bonus and adds to the whole experience. The service was great and they were very helpful. I love the casual ambiance and perfect for a quick bite. There's also plenty of parking which is great! Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

I've been coming to Tortas Mexico for like 25 years. Back in the old days when they were up on foothill a friend of mine from Mexico told me it was the most authentic food in the area and he introduced me to their carne asada torta. That was all I ordered there for years when I would come occasionally. After they moved to their current location and had more of a restaurant vibe my wife started ordering their Caldo de Pollo, which is excellent. We've kind of gone on and off our frequency of coming here over the years but recently we've been coming back a lot and the thing that stands out to me is what a variety they have on their menu. In the last couple months we've been coming once a week and I've not ordered the same thing twice and everything I've had has been ranging from very good to excellent. Tostadas, taquitos, flautas, burritos, All of it really delicious.

We had a beautiful sunny weekend. Gorgeous weekend outdoor weather for a change. Perfect for leisure walks. So we headed to Montrose to visit family and enjoy the outdoors. As you stroll through the charming Montrose neighborhood business district on such a bright and sunny day, a symphony of sights and sounds surrounds you, painting a charming and vibrant picture of community life in motion. Once our appetites grew, we knew we had to head to one our favorite spots in Montrose for Mexican food, Tortas Mexico. Nestled in the heart of Montrose, Tortas Mexico is a hidden gem, unassuming, but a place that promises you a culinary journey through the vibrant flavors of Mexico. To start the fiesta, I indulged in one of my favorites, the Shrimp Cocktail, a refreshing and zesty appetizer of shrimp swimming in a tangy tomato-based cocktail sauce, accented with fresh avocado, cilantro, and a hint of lime. Wow! Delicious! Each bite was a burst of freshness that awakened my taste buds and left me craving more. ¡Sabroso! Next up were the Enchiladas, a classic Mexican comfort food that did not disappoint. We also ordered the Chicken Tacos and Carne Tacos. They were a true fiesta for the taste buds. The Chicken Tacos featured tender, marinated chicken nestled in warm corn tortillas and topped with cilantro, and a small amount of salsa. Simple, but tremendously flavorful. The Carne Tacos boasted juicy, seasoned beef, perfectly grilled and paired with a little bit of onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. ¡Delicioso! For a taste of traditional Mexican cuisine, we also savored the Pollo con Mole, a dish that perfectly balanced sweet and savory flavors. The tender chicken was smothered in a rich, velvety mole sauce made with a blend of chilies, spices, and chocolate, creating a dish that was both comforting and complex. This mole is incredibly delicious. One of the best we have ever enjoyed. To round out the meal, we couldn't resist trying the Bean and Cheese Pupusa, a Salvadoran specialty that was a delightful surprise on the menu. These thick, handmade corn tortillas were stuffed with creamy beans and gooey cheese, then griddled to crispy perfection. Each bite was a perfect marriage of textures and flavors, making it a satisfying and delicious addition to the meal. Tortas Mexico will definitely exceed your expectations with its authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and diverse menu offerings. From the vibrant Shrimp Cocktail to the comforting Pollo con Mole and everything in between, each dish was a celebration of Mexican culinary artistry. If you're ever in Montrose and looking for a flavorful fiesta for your taste buds, Tortas Mexico is the place to be. I strongly recommend it!

I'm an LA native and I've tried just about everywhere, and nothing comes close to El Sauz. The carne asada is juicy and packed with flavor, exactly how it should be. And the sauces... honestly, the best you'll find anywhere. Nobody does it like they do, which makes the name make perfect sense.

He's also not easy to please when we talk about carne asada. It was my first time here and I'm not a burrito-eater, ever. Burritos are for men; Working men with big appetites. But I decided to eat like a man today and ordered the carne asada burrito con todo. Holy mother of baby Jesus! It was soooo damned good! I don't want to call it "flavorful" like any other peasant. Just come and taste them yourself. You'll leave feeling happy to be alive during these shitshow times. Even if temporarily. The fact that people of all ethnicities and sexes come here convinced me this is not your average taco joint -- Firemen, day laborers, Armenian men and women, young and old, phone orders that are non-stop... this explains why the existence of this restaurant has not been squashed yet by Big Boring Building thieves. I'll definitely be back. I did not see my favorite meat of carnitas offered, but the carne asada can be my Sancho. And prices are reasonable.

It was still good and the presentation was honestly very artistic. As it darkened outside, the overhead lights dimmed inside the restaurant and their colored lights grew stronger! We ordered several frozen margaritas and they were generous sizes for a decent price, but were very melted by the time they were served. They were also a bit bland: not very tart, sweet, or strong. I shared a plate of the flautas (two steak / two chicken) and three chicken enchiladas, which both came with rice and beans. Everything was made well and the flautas were super crunchy, so that was a huge plus! It was enough to have plenty of leftovers if you're not too hungry. We were celebrating a graduation and didn't know there was a cake holding fee of $15, which I personally feel is on the pricier end. The food service was a bit slow, but we all got our food around the same time. Our servers were also very attentive and accommodating. It's genuinely a nice place to have dinner if you're at the Americana at Brand.

The food came out tepid at best and then left a greasy taste in your mouth. The flautas were weirdly covered by excess shredded lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream (to cover up the ridiculously thick tortillas covering the tasteless meats inside, no doubt). The carnitas were lacking in flavor. The drinks bought to the table lacked the flare (and the flavor) of those we had at the bar. The space itself, is weirdly expansive. The mirrored ceiling makes the empty coldness even worse. Top tip, don't go and wait for a table - any table - anywhere else at the Americana.
