I remember getting tortas from here a while ago and they were some of the best tortas I'd ever had. We were in the area and decided to order some food and see if the quality is still as we remember. We ordered the torta with asada, nachos with chicken, wet burrito, shrimp tacos, plain quesadillas, asada tacos with rice and beans, and horchata. We didn't have to wait too long for our food, and service was good. Everything was very fresh and you can tell it was just prepared. The one thing I like about the torta here is that they have a good ratio of bread to filling. You don't get too much bread and it's actually nicely toasted and crispy. This place is a little hidden gem. The service is so genuine and friendly. Amazingly delicious flavorful chile rellenos I'm very picky with chile rellenos and this is by far the most delicious chile rellenos I've had. It taste homemade. My son had the asada burrito and he also was impressed, the size, flavor and freshness of the burrito. We had agua frescas Jamaica an agua de pepino really delicious and refreshing. Horrible service! I have my elderly friend come with me and my family to this place and the lady in the front is ALWAYS SOOO RUDE. I asked for my husband to get us 3 horchatas and she only charged us for 2. We had to wait in line again to order one drink and she took FOREVER to bring it out. My elderly friend could have choked on his food at this point. Every time we go in there it's as if she hates doing her job. Last time we will ever go in there again because she is literally the problem at this place. Change your attitude and then maybe you will have more clients to eventually screw over. read more

i have been coming to penas tacos for yeeaarrsss now. they have been in sunland since i was a kid! even some of my family members have gone to penas! i love a family owned little mexican restaurant. the employees that have assisted me has always been so kind especially the older gentleman. he always makes sure my order is completed and even adds on some extras too. i really appreciate that. the service is pretty quick for the food that i order. sometimes I'll get their tacos, the nachos, the shrimp cocktails, or my favorite their ceviche. i really love their ceviche. the pescado in the ceviche is fresh. i have never gotten sick from their ceviche. my aunt loooves their shrimp cocktail! it is soo good! penas food is really enjoyable. the horchata is refreshing as well! read more

I have seen people talk about this place and give them a good rating, but I have tried a lot of taco spots and this does not qualify for me. unfortunately the food didn't taste that good. One good thing I would say is the service is pretty good. The workers have great attitude and friendly. The ambience is pretty average. They do except card and cash. My family and I love this place. They are open during Covid, there is selected seating outside. The food is traditional cooked and carries an excellent flavor. They are one of the few places that makes corn quesadillas (for the gluten free people) portions are generous, ingredients are fresh. You can call ahead or walk in and pick up.
