I have been to this Torrid before in the past and they gave great customer service. However, today their customer service was off. I had a arm full of clothing and I wasn't asked once if I needed a fitting room. And usually they set up a fitting room when they see a customer with clothing. Three separate employees just looked me over with my full arm of clothing but failed to offer me a dressing room. Even while standing at the dressing room floor, I still wasn't offered a room. I had to go to the register and ask the girl for her room. Came in today to take a look at their clearance section. Found a few items however, the price wasn't appealing, and it wasn't the right fit. I like coming into the store because I can try items on however they are much cheaper online, this is just my opinion. read more

I went in last week, no hello, no help, line almost to the door, no help all workers in the back talking about weekend plans, I can literally tell you what at least 3 of them did over the weekend, I was immediately told how sorry y'all where and to call a phone number, I did that this morning and he knew nothing of what I was talking about and gave me another number to call which was the wrong number, so I am not a happy customer. The crew you had working last Tuesday needs to be retrained or how to greet someone, a simple hello and welcome in goes along way, which is how all customers have been treated until this new team entered into the picture. This is my favorite torrid location to shop at. Parking's easy, and my shopping experience has been really cool. I really admire one of their employees, Hannah. She is really sweet and will go all out to help you with anything you need. The store is well stocked and looks clean anytime you go. Quality- Torrid had amazing clothes. Their clothes do not shrink after washing and look great year after year. I have torrid tops from 6 years ago that look brand new. High-rise leggings are great, and do not slip while walking at least. This store stocks up on a lot of jewelry and leggings and whatever you may need. The first time I came here, I didn't know what to expect. To be honest, I was a little overwhelmed because for the first time in my life, I can actually go to a store as a big girl and try on clothes that fit! I am always greeted by my favorite person, Sarah. She made sure my first experience was easy and fun. Every time since, I am happy with the selection, especially for business clothes! It's nice that they manage to stock a wide variety of items for the plus size market and although some of the items can get fairly pricey, their clearance sales can save you a large amount of money on everything you could possibly need. Having had to evacuate my home recently due to the fires in Boulder Creek, I needed to get clothing. I placed my order and went to pick it up only to be greeted by a store clerk who said "We don't know where half your order is, oh well." So I sent an email asking for a refund since they cannot seem to locate the two pairs of sweats I ordered. Silence. I sent another email to the president of the company. More silence. Genesis, Viviana, and Daisy made my shopping experience amazing. I came in on the 4th of July with my boyfriend and they made me feel so comfortable, and like they truly cared about me. They constantly were checking on me, seeing if I needed different sizes, taking away items I didn't like, and just making sure I was okay. They even made sure my boyfriend had a place to sit comfortably. They were friendly, and had smiles the second I walked through the door. They truly made me feel like 'royalty'. The place was clean, and they were never just standing anywhere chatting. They were constantly cleaning, helping people, and making sure the store was in order. I was super excited when this store opened up this weekend 6/1/13. I was there the first hour they opened up to take a quick look and later returned with my husband. I tired on so much clothes and purchased quite a bit of clothing. I then returned two days later and purchased more stuff. Everyone was friendly while I was shopping and buying stuff. But, today I returned one item that I had second thoughts about. The women that returned my item seemed irritated that I was returning an item. I just smiled and kept my cool but she had a bit of an attitude with me and was unprofessional with her body language. After I left I asked my daughter what her impression was with the lady that returned my item. she too agreed that she had a negative attitude. I have always shopped at Macy's Women's and have always enjoyed my shopping experience. I was hoping this place would be another store I could shop at but will consider not shopping there because of the attitude of their employee. read more

Clothes are cute but ridiculously expensive (a button up shirt for $50?!). Can almost never shop here because the sizes are too big. Even the size 0 runs huge. They had a great selection of clothes and sale items, but other yelpers are correct in saying their customer service sucks. I was in the store for about 45 minutes and not once did both of the girls working say "Hi" or asked if they could help me find something. I looked helpless and in need of assistance but they really didn't seem interested. Even when I asked for a dressing room, she was a little rude. My experience as other Torrid stores are usually amazing, so this was surprising. When I asked one of the girls if they had any clothes that were Nautical themed, her response was "I don't even know what that is" and when I tried explaining she still said she didn't know. I shopped at this new location back in september and my friend and I received wonderful and amazing service from a manager who helped us out alot and she was really familiar with the merchandise too! That's why I'm sad to give it only 3-stars! But the service from other associates could be better. The second time I came in, the two sales staff there were really quite, and didn't really help me with anything and when I went to use my haute cash on a pair jeans, I couldn't because they were on sale, not clearance! On sale! Torrid honestly has had a problem for years not properly merchandising their products! They told me I could get another clearance item for $5, which is great if that's what I'd come in for and they didn't tell me about that promotion until this issue happened at the register! Both of them had a poor "I don't care" attitude and didn't really acknowledge me. It made me feel like crap and I left without buying anything. This torrid isn't very big either, there is a limited supply of everything here compared to the former valley fair location and the oakridge location. read more

Looking for a store that caters to the "fuller figured" woman? Tired of driving to the mall and searching for parking? Dread walking past store after store that has great styles in the window, only to find they don't have sizes larger than a 10? Well, then head on over to Coleman and Taylor in San Jose and step into a store that treats you like a valued guest. When I walk in to this store, I am ALWAYS greeted with a cheery smile and a "welcome to Torrid". The store definitely has a "boutique" feel about it which I love. It is a great feeling to walk up to a rack of pants or shirts and see everything in my size! There is always a salesperson nearby, who ALWAYS offer to take my choices and start a dressing room. They put your first name on the outside of the door, so I always know where my choices are. The manager is so helpful, and will always offer to go into the back to check stock, if you need a different size, or to see if something comes in other colors. I love venturing over to this location, because I can always find parking, and even if the store has several customers in it, you will always get treated like a welcome customer, no matter what. Torrid has become one of my favorite places to shop. Sometimes what I want is pricey, but the clothes are cute and on trend. This store is great. Good stock, clean, usually helpful staff. There's one girl here, though, who sometimes is super helpful (when there's no one else around) and sometimes kinda has an attitude. I'm not sure what the deal is, but it sometimes deters me from coming in. Just sayin. Overall, my experience with this store is good :) read more

With that said I wish they had multiple phone lines. I hate that I can never get through to them. I have called different times of the day and it's more then likely busy! I was very apprehensive about coming here based on the Yelp reviews. I haven't been to Torrid since it was at Valley Fair because I don't tend to venture outside my 5 mile bubble. Thought I'd give it a go though because I needed some bras and shirts. I was very pleasantly surprised by the customer service. I'm a tomboy and wear sports bras all the time, cause let's face it, when you're fuller figured trying to find bras that fit properly is a nightmare. I've always had good luck at Torrid. I had no idea what size I am anymore since my weight fluctuates like a yo yo. I had Christina help me out by measuring me. Looks like I went down 4 band sizes and 2 cup sizes since I had last been here. Of course, nothing seemed to fit me right so Christina brought me bra after bra after bra. She even brought in her co-worker, Veronica? I think to see if her measurements were different, they weren't. So FINALLY after I'd say a good 45 minutes I found one size that seemed perfect. Haullejuah! Bought 3 of those bad boys and decided to keep shopping. Bought some panties to match my new bras, and even some lingerie. I wasn't impressed with their clothes selection at all, but there were a lot of women in there buying clothes, so it must be good to some people. Hence, why it's only 4 stars. Plus, the prices seem a bit high. However, at the end of the day I thanked God for Christina because I would have no idea where to even get started! Had no idea what panty size I was either since they have a different sizing system. She helped me with that as well, in addition to some recommendations after asking me what kind I preferred wearing. I ended up spending $200, but saving $75. I only intended on getting a couple bras but their sale offers were too good to pass up. So I'll be coming back, out of my bubble in the near future. This is by far the BEST Torrid location. All of the store employees are so welcoming and helpful! I've never had a bad experience with customer service, as the employees always have the customer's best interest in mind. The store is very clean compared to other Torrid locations and you can always find what you're looking for. Sometimes the most popular sizes sell out but most of the time, your size will be there. Although the clothes are a bit on the pricey side, I'm willing to pay for the quality of clothes I get. Their jeans are the only jeans that fit my curvy body and I swear by them! I don't see why so many people are giving bad reviews on their customer service, to me it was great! Staff was really nice and helpful. I came in today to do 2 exchanges, and working in retail I know how time consuming exchanges can be but the cashier helped me out so much! I have never had plus size jeans that fit better than torrids jeans! Also I know it can be pricey but I'm a torrid insider member so I get a lot of sweet deals that keep me coming back! Anyway, I found them to be poorly made and uncomfortable. The boots don't stay up, at all...i keep having to pulling them up; Which makes me look sloppy and poorly put together. The bottom cover to the heel came off, just randomly one day as I was attending a festival in santa cruz... so I was stuck. The suede is Frayed and discolored - I have only worn them like 6 or 7 times...?? I honestly don't care about the money I spent on them... I just wish Torrid would make better quality clothing and shoes for plus size women; we need MORE support to hold our weight.... Not charge an arm and a leg for a product that is mediocre at BEST! It's almost as if we are being punished for being bigger and should be happy with the scraps they provide. I know this sounds mean or rude but I'm just honestly sick of what we have to choose from. This is the place for hip and contemporary clothing. Many items are designed for juniors, but you'll still find many cute and stylish options for the full figured gal. Torrids premium jeans are on par with designer brands sold at Nordstrom. Minus one star for cost. You need to score your rags during a sales promo. I prefer to do the bulk of my clothes shopping online. Shopping is annoying, and I generally hate malls. Torrid has had some cuter items in the last couple years, and as such they have been receiving more of my hard-earned cash. I am a Platinum member of their Insider's Club, or whatever it's called... which basically means they send me tons of coupons in exchange for giving them my business on a semi-regular basis. The first time I went in to this location, the service was AWFUL. I had placed on online (very large) order to pick up in-store, because free shipping always sounds better when ordering impulse items at midnight. My m.o. was to pick up the order, hopefully have an employee explain the sizing on their current styles of jeans (as I never bought jeans here before) and gtfo. I was flat-out ignored by all three employees in the store for the first 20 minutes. I milled around, attempting to get someone's attention, before deciding to try on a couple clearance items while waiting for an employee to look up from her cell phone and offer assistance. So, with items in hand, the universal sign for "I either want to buy this shit or try it on," I was left to wait another 15 minutes directly outside of the changing area, in front of two employees who continued to ignore me. I did verbally ask for a room when one of them took a break from their personal conversation, and received no response. When another one of the employees finally looked in my direction, I again said I needed a changing room - and also had an online order to pick-up and a few questions about sizing. She opened the changing room and walked off, without offering further assistance. Was the store overrun with customers, giving them a somewhat passable excuse for the shitty service? No. There was only one other customer present during that entire visit, and because she was what a rude person might assume to be a bigger spender than me - she did receive considerably better service. Fun fact - in the end she bought nothing. After trying the items on in the changing room (during which, no one checked up on me. pro tip: making sure people are trying on the right sizes leads to more sales), I went to the counter. I asked for someone to retrieve my package. One employee said someone else had already gone to get it. I politely informed her that I hadn't given anyone my name, so it would be impressive if they knew which box to get... After they pulled up my account and saw that I spend a LOT of money here and have tons of Insider points, suddenly they became notably more alert. She asked to see my ID and tried to quiz me on my address. Twice. I will pretend it was to be extra diligent, rather than because they were prejudiced. I tried to ask both employees at the counter for information about sizing one last time and got nothing. Finally accepting that zero customer service would be happening that day, I took my order and left. I returned a week later, to exchange a couple items - because SIZING - and hoped that an employee would be interested in helping me find the right size on this visit. No such luck. There were three different employees working and while they weren't as bad as the first group, no one wanted to help me find out what size actually fit me. I did ask. And got nothing. I found that weird. In the end, one employee at least did the exchange properly (for a size I guesstimated)... which is something. I do not know why people get into retail if they cannot stomach customer service. Summary - go to a different location if you want a better experience. Or if you know your size, stick to ordering online. This location isn't worth the hassle. read more

I am a little surprised at some of these reviews below because I usually have absolutely no issue with this store. A lot of the women who work there are very helpful and very nice. I also have NEVER had a problem returning anything in the store, even an online exclusive purchase and my clothes are always shipped within a week when purchased online. The reason this review isn't a higher score is because I went in to return two items of a three item order I purchased online and was met with less than even average customer service. I kept one top that I loved, but I wasn't as crazy for the other top as I was expecting to be and the shoes I ordered, though adorabale, ripped the skin on the back of both of my heels while at work after 1 hour of wear. I walked in at about 5:15pm and the store wasn't busy. There were three women working. One on the floor, one unloading a shipment and one at the register checking out the woman in front of me in line. I got in line with my return and the nice young lady said, "we will be right with you." No problem, I can tell the other two were busy. I wait a little longer and she then says "she can help you right here"...She can? She looks like she is in the middle of something and that she isn't interested in helping me. Ok, so I go to the register on the right. The lady who helps me, Zoey was the name on the bottom of the receipt, doesn't say hi, doesn't ask if I am returning or interested in exchanging, doesn't smile and honestly seems as though she is being interupted. She just opens the box to start the return. I explain that the shoes had been worn for a short period of time, but I just couldn't keep them because they were so painful. The nice lady at the other register ok'd the return. She asked for the Visa I had purchased the items with, then turns around and goes back to the shipment she was unloading! I stood there with my credit card held out in my hand and waited for her to turn back around. It wasn't for an extremely extended period of time, but how long was she expecting me to take to get the card out of my wallet...that was already in my hand. Just finish my transaction and I promise the shipment will still be there. Usually when I come in to return, I end up exchanging for a different item and leaving very happy. She didn't ask, didn't offer and did not seem as though she wanted to help me a second longer than needed, so I was no longer interested in spending any more time in the store. Lastly, when I made this purchase online, I used two haute cash coupons. $25 off $50. The one top I kept was $36, so the two items I returned were the items the haute cashes were used mainly for. I found it very strange I didn't get the haute cash back since there are still a few more days to spend them. I confirmed with the store that once the coupons are surrendered, you do not get them back! So basically, you better use those on items you know you aren't going to need to return. I could understand if the time period for spending them has passed, but there is still opportunity for me to purchase more items with them...sounds like a missed sale to me. I can promise, if I had those two haute cashes, I would be in there this weekend using them up. I certainly will continue going to this store because I do love the clothing and they have great sales. I am often greeted and provided with great customer service, but I think they may need to take the time to make sure all employees are practicing the same customer service skills.
