I was hoping to find an earlier birthday gift for a friend who was in town for the weekend. First of all, the woman helping us was very helpful and didn't mind at all that I seemed to request one tray after another for viewing a variety of pieces, not really knowing what I was looking for. I found a great pair of hoops almost immediately, which was fantastic as I'm oddly picky about hoop styles. We scoured the store and found a great necklace option though it was silver and a quick text revealed she preferred gold. While the store didn't have quite as many gold pieces as I would have liked, I did find a great pair of costume jewelry earrings to add to my gift for my friend... and the silver necklace I'd been considering for her, well, I ended up getting that for myself. By the way, they had a great selection of Pandora on sale! So I may go back soon to see if they have anything left.

Lots of pretty things to choose from (I am loving the Bonn Bons right now) in a variety of price ranges, and all of the employees are super helpful.

This one in Short Pump is right in the center of the mall on the the lower level. It's always beautifully designed and filled with cute goodies. I love starting at the right to adore all the home goods and then making my way through the 50% off sale items, shoes, accessories, and clothes. They have plenty of spacious fitting rooms to try things on. In Richmond you're able to visit this one in Short Pump or the one in Stony Point. Both are fabulous. I rarely need help, but the people who work here that I've interacted with at the fitting rooms or cash registers have always been sweet. There are so many gorgeous things here.

Anyone who has ever been to an Anthro store knows about its gorgeously designed clothes, jewelry and housewares... but the staff here for the opening was on their A game! So many greeters, cashiers, floor staff helping the excited customers. My daughter and I were the first customers and we were so geeking out about it! The food was Ah-mazing!! Skewers of grilled chicken with cilantro lime sauce, Caesar salad cups, lobster phyllo tarts, black bean sliders with mango chutney, sweet potato ham biscuits, lavender and lemon cupcakes, macarons, and a beverage bar! I might have missed something, but let's just say that I went home with a happy tummy! I purchased some adorbs black pants and a pair of tortoise shell hoops, along with some cute office folders! Our hubbies came along, had a beer, held our purchases and enjoyed watching us shop! It was a great crowd but not at all chaotic, everything was fun, smooth sailing and an absolute blast! And my hubby bought me a surprise gift... guess I'll have to wait for our anniversary to find out what it is!! Kudos to Anthro! Great event!!

I'm a Loft card member so I earn points and use them to refresh my wardrobe every now and again. I've now visited three times and have only purchased two tops. That's unheard of for me. Usually when I visit Lofts and Loft Outlets elsewhere, I leave with big bags of clothes. I'll have to buy online to use my rewards cards, I guess. Each time I've visited, the store has been really busy too, and it's semi-difficult to browse without requesting people move a thousand times. Last visit, during their First Tuesday promo, many of the displays looked like hurricanes blasted through them as well, and the associates all were swamped with long lines (and one customer who appeared to be returning and purchasing half the store). I love the Loft brand, and the friendly folks who work here are doing their best, but I do think this store needs some help reaching a higher quality level and providing a better customer experience.

I stood in line waiting my turn like the customer before me, that customer went up to the register and I waited my turn. I noticed another line forming in the other side and I just assumed they had two lines going. The ladies at the register saw I was waiting and did not say a word so I continued to wait my turn. Another lady that works there approached me and said they are having one line and wanted me to move to the other side. Now, by this time there was a good line of 5ish people waiting when my turn was supposed to be next.. I was there waiting way before all those people. She had me wait in the back of the line again! Instead of having me just make my purchase since I was way before all those other people, she made me wait again. I told the lady at the register when my turn came up, after waiting yet again a good 10 minutes, that they should at least put a sign up. She said that they had just put it up. Seriously! So they know I was waiting before the sign went up! As I left I told the lady that moved me they should've put the sign before I waited in line, she says "oh it was up" she contradicted the register lady... so I knew she was just saying it to cover herself! My conclusion, if you look a certain way at this location you get a better treatment. So anyone with darker skin, good luck... as we are not valued customers!!

I came in with my family a couple days after our family pet died, as a way to distract ourselves and do a little retail therapy to make us feel a little better. Bad choice. This visit absolutely made me feel worse. I grabbed three different styles of pants and asked for a dressing room. Now let me preface this by saying I've pretty much worn madewell jeans exclusively for 7-ish years. I know what size I wear, and I understand how their pants fit. Instead of the sales associate helping me get a fitting room, she started off by saying "Have you ever even owned Madewell jeans before?" to which I responded yes, I own several pairs. She then grills me on the shorts I'm wearing and asks me where they're from. I tell her, they're Madewell. I bought them a couple months back. And she says "Oh wow...that's REALLY surprising." And laughs. What is surprising about that? She then says "Are you sure? They don't look like they're from here." Mind you these shorts I have on are CURRENTLY in their store, in multiple colors, in the front of the store. So what exactly was she implying? Because the vibe and the tone I was given was that she thought either a) I couldn't afford madewell or b) they looked so bad on me she couldn't believe I bought them from madewell. I stood there in disbelief in what she was saying to me, but it didn't stop there! She then proceeded to tell me I should grab a bigger size because their jeans shrink and they won't fit me. Are you fkin kidding me?! Did I not just tell you I own multiple pairs of madewell pants, and that I'm currently wearing them now? And madewell jeans stretch out throughout the day, so I have no idea why she felt so inclined to say that. I could not believe the way I was spoken to, as if I didn't deserve to be in that store and that the clothes I grabbed wouldn't fit me. I KNOW my size. I already told her that. I don't know what I did to this woman to make her feel like it was okay to disrespect me and talk down to me like I was some kind of fat idiot, but needless to say I will never visit this location again. Madewell, you might wanna train your stuck up employees not to disrespect people for no reason. Both my sister and mother picked up on how degrading she was when she was speaking to me. All of us are grieving at the moment and we did not have it in us to start an argument with a freaking sales associate. But yeah, cool, I hope she feels better about herself while trying to make me feel bad about myself for absolutely no damn reason.

I guess it's time to be a grown up! Jeans are really funny and you can be completely different sizes depending on brand and cut. So, as much as I hate trying things on, I decided to pop in and give them a test drive. Well, people definitely aren't lying! The jeans are soft, supportive, and definitely high quality. They're thicker than some others that I have from a different brand and I really enjoyed everything about them. I was surprised to find that my normal size fit me very well. The young lady who was working today was very nice and helpful, without being overbearing. My favorite kind of employee interaction! Definitely glad I came in today and looking forward to owning my very own pair of Madewell denim in the new year!

It was that time for Spring Cleaning and was in the process of minimalizing my closet (and house). I had a pile that I was ready to get rid of anxiously and decided to give this place a shot. The place is a little smaller but had plenty of cute clothes to choose from. I did go first thing in the morning so I was able to get first dibs on having my stuff looked over. They did a great job going over my clothes and taking a big chunk off my load. They did offer a good amount for the amount of clothes that they selected, but was surprised that they didn't take many of my new brand clothes. Which was fine with me because then I was able to just post it on Poshmark. Anyways, it was an overall good experience to sell your clothes and to check out second-hand clothing. (In my defense, I tried not to check out their clothings because I was indeed trying to downsize haha).

Unfortunately, we stepped inside about 35 minutes before they were going to close. Others came in after us. No one, and I mean NO ONE, spoke to us when we came in. We browsed around & a young lady came and slammed a pair of jeans in front of me on the rack. She did say "excuse me" while doing so, but the attitude was very clear. Not sure why people get so upset when they are still open. At that point, I knew I wasn't purchasing anything from that store. I had to get my son out of there, but he was still excited at some of the things he was finding. He's a teen - He doesn't pay attention to bad attitudes or poor customer service the way I do. So, he was unfazed. The longer we stayed, the more irritated that young lady looked. I walked out because he was taking too long browsing & I could feel myself getting upset by her behavior. They brought in the racks from outside & the young man did finally say "hello" to me as I was walking out. Weird! Even if he was ready for everyone to leave, he didn't show it as rudely as the young lady did. Instead of being called "Uptown Cheapskate", they should rebrand as "Uppidy, Stuck Up & Rude Cheapskate". That fits them more accurately. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back & their men's section is extremely small compared to the rest of the store. They won't see a penny of my money!

At one point, I lost track of my mom and tried to call her but apparently Dillard's is a dead zone for phone service, so I was clearly looking for her and one of the workers looked *extremely* concerned and approached me about it. We went into a dressing room to try on *three* shirts and in that time period, literally what, 3 minutes?, one of the ladies working knocked on the door to make sure we were okay. Seriously? We were going to buy all three shirts, but it turns out that none of them were on sale. A basic sweater that said "Merry" on it was going for ~$90, so I said nevermind to that one and the woman looked mildly annoyed despite still making a close to $100 sale from us. But why would a department store have no promotions whatsoever on Black Friday of all days? Really just so strange. I won't be back.
