As a midsize, borderline plus size girl, it was really easy to find clothes that actually fit. The dressing rooms were convenient, the selection is good quality and I love the brands they have, the pricing really isn't that bad. It's a curated selection of what's fashionable without breaking the bank. I'm glad there's one in Richmond, I'm glad there's one in Virginia Beach! Unfortunately, we stepped inside about 35 minutes before they were going to close. Others came in after us. No one, and I mean NO ONE, spoke to us when we came in. We browsed around & a young lady came and slammed a pair of jeans in front of me on the rack. She did say "excuse me" while doing so, but the attitude was very clear. Not sure why people get so upset when they are still open. At that point, I knew I wasn't purchasing anything from that store. I had to get my son out of there, but he was still excited at some of the things he was finding. He's a teen - He doesn't pay attention to bad attitudes or poor customer service the way I do. So, he was unfazed. The longer we stayed, the more irritated that young lady looked. I walked out because he was taking too long browsing & I could feel myself getting upset by her behavior. They brought in the racks from outside & the young man did finally say "hello" to me as I was walking out. Weird! Even if he was ready for everyone to leave, he didn't show it as rudely as the young lady did. Instead of being called "Uptown Cheapskate", they should rebrand as "Uppidy, Stuck Up & Rude Cheapskate". That fits them more accurately. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back & their men's section is extremely small compared to the rest of the store. They won't see a penny of my money!

While price isn't an issue for me, I didn't bother to look at the prices because I didn't like anything. I guess if you pay $500 for an ugly dress, the price makes it less ugly? On the bright side,their new location across the street on Grove is spacious and inviting. I've often wondered why they don't put a sign up with the name of their store. Alas, 20 minutes later, the fitting room was still not open. In addition to that, nothing seems to be organized in a thoughtful way. Where you expect things to be, they're not there. When I've ordered online and gone to pick things up, it's an easy process so long as there's actually someone at the counter to get your stuff. The people at the registers are usually always nice.

I've been alerted that the review I submitted inadvertently show two stars. It is a FIVE STARS store for service, selection, and cleanliness. They even have fans in the large dressing rooms! It's a great place to pick up discounted, hardly worn, or never before worn, consignment clothing in women's plus sizes. They even have beautiful accessories. High end everything. Ferragamo, Kate Spade. Many Talbots clothes ( my personal favorite dependable). I highly recommend. They are open until 8pm most days.

I found this beautiful vintage Nanette Lepore dress with a corset top and floral detailing. Now, I do have to determine if I can breathe in it, but that's not Ashby's fault. We picked up high and low pieces. So, although this dress was $34 and it has a very short return policy (3 days, store credit only) I bought it as an option. We found several other pieces including several items from the bathtub, which is pay by the pound (works out to like $.50 an item for those). It's really big and well organized. I really love this location!
