It definitely is pricey, but the rooms are nice (mine didn't have a nice view though), and the lobby is huge and nice. There was a person playing the piano live, which was awesome. Drink prices are good. Some waiters aren't great while others compensate for them. Restrooms look nice and mostly clean, but no ventilation in toilet area (lobby restrooms) so it feels suffocating. read more

Was very excited to stay here from Denver Colorado with my mom who is a local. I decided to treat her on a nice getaway. Check in was great and so were the rooms. Once we decided to go down to the main bar and restaurant that's when it went downhill. SERVICE was really disappointing with the bartender JORGE. He was not attentive and seemed bothered when we asked for service. Mind you the place only had about 3 tables during weekday. This is a great hotel but needs attention to customer service in the restaurant bar. read more

Really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is beautiful and has many amenities. Very clean and mostly courteous staff. I say mostly, because if one thing can improve would be front desk customer service. They mostly don't acknowledge you and they can be seen talking to each other instead of paying attention that there's a line for people to check in/out. They are very short with you when you ask a question and almost seemed bothered. The valet parking, room service attendants and waiters were attentive for the most part. One thing to improve is that a simple order does take a while to arrive, a dessert can take 30 mins...like a flan that's already made, takes too long. Save yourself the disappointment. This place does not know how to treat customers. We've stayed at Ensenada hotels for years and love the little town and what it has to offer but I have never had such a poor experience as when we stayed at Lucerna. Staff treated paying customers like morons. They completely ignore phone call to the front desk from our hotel room. Noice from a part down stairs at 11 30 at night was so loud it felt like we were on the nance floor. Other much better options include: coral marina, punto morro, or las rosas. Beautiful resort, but its not complete. Construction is still going on and you can hear pounding all day long. Also, i didnt see dirrect access to the beach, you have to walk around the construction and a private neighborhood to get to the water. Restaurant is good and all the employees are attentive and really friendly. read more

I went the weekend of December 16 and we were expecting a great stay since it is a beautiful hotel and it was such a horrible stay. In the morning when we woke up the whole room smelled like sewer so bad it made our stomachs hurt. Once we let the front people know they did nothing to make the situation better. Also a couple days later and they over charged an extra hundred dollars. Never staying here again definitely not recommended. read more

Wow! What a joke, no hot water for first and second nite, no accommodation for that. The spa is cold, the pool isn't heated. They are still selling rooms to people knowing dam well they do not have hot water. A coffee that's cold was 4$, bed was comfy, lobby is beautiful. I had to give 4 Stars on the Hotel because after check-in we found that the room they had put us in had not yet been cleaned, the valet scratched our baby stroller getting it out of the car, and we had issues getting towels at the pool. I chalk it up to the fact that the hotel is new and the staff are still trying to get their bearings. Other than that, the room we were switched to was clean and very beautiful. Unfortunately I'd booked us a Mountain View instead of an Ocean View because it was $10 cheaper online. Tried to switch at the hotel but they said it would be $78 more. So make doubly sure you book the Ocean Views correctly Online, otherwise you'll pay alot more at the front desk. In fact, make sure you book online period. If you go to the front desk to book the prices are exorbitantly higher. Other than that the pool was beautiful and warm. The smaller wading pools were really hot though. Had to take my daughter tp the 5 ft deep pool as it was cooler. There is a good view of the ocean from the pool, but it's not unobstructed. There's a housing development/private club in between the hotel and the beach so there's no beach access from the hotel. Luckily the houses are no more than 2 story so I assume that any future development would not obstruct the view. Food by the pool is relatively inexpensive for the US for that level of hotel. It's pricey for Mexico though so be aware. We paid about $47 for Fish Ceviche with Mango, Guacamole and Chips, Carne Asada Nachos, 4 beers, and two sodas. Checkout was better the next day and the valet that helped us was very nice and friendly. As well, this is the only 5-Star Hotel you're going to find this close to Ensenada (5 minute drive to the main strip). Everything else is further away. For you Starbucks lovers it's also a 5 minute drive to the closest Starbucks in Ensenada. I'll probably stay again, and maybe up my scoring if those little issues get fixed. I definitely want to try to have the breakfast buffet next time. Beautiful dining area in the ground floor lobby. I also highly recommend this place for events. Looks like they have events space both right next to the pool, as well as it looked like they were finishing up construction on the top level. I think that might be more events space as well. read more

Stayed here last night and the hotel was very nice. Nice lobby, nice bars, great pool, room service was great and service was great. Only complaint is they didnt have a king bedroom for me and my girlfriend. So we stayed in a double bed room . The beds were full size and uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. It was hard to get a good night sleep here at $271.00 a night which is ridiculous price for an uncomfortable night sleep... read more

Hotel is beautiful, I loved the decor but there was a couple of things that are still work In progress, I understand that it only has open about 1month ago so I will definitely give it another try,let me start Rooms are very small,I mean very small, the ac doesn't cool up so at night the room got super hot the showers are beautiful but also very small and the water pressure is a small amount that comes out from the shower I only found one trash can for the whole room, no coffee pot to make coffee in the morning to me for that price you should at least get coffee, balcony looks like it's not fully done very narrow like they ran out of money and cut it short , view is so-so since there is a bunch of trash behind the hotel , ok next the pool area is beautiful but the water from the pool tends to get super HOT and it's kinda uncomfortable no music and no TV or bar area, the music that you hear in the background which is very very low is Christmas music in June and it's very low , there is still a lot of construction being done and theres noise all day long and smells that are coming from the construction but like I said the hotel had only been open for a month so I'm sure there's a lot of improving to do , the hotel doesn't really have much to do , we tried the buffet and it was delicious but very pricey with not much to offer, I don't want to discourage anyone from staying here, I loved it it's beautiful clean and very trendy it's small details that I'm sure they will Improve with time , we were going to stay two nights but decided to make it a one night stay, it's pricey and didn't meet our expectations. read more

Nice Hotel, Overcharged US The Lucerna is one of the nicer hotels in the area, we have stayed there six times, our last stay is just that. There is construction going on next to the hotel and they start about 7:30am with the noise and music so it makes sleeping in or relaxing by the pool or on your balcony impossible. We were unfortunately given a handicap room that did not suite our needs even though we verified a different room number prior to our arrival. Given the situation we checked out a day early, hotel staff said no problem leaving early and gave us a receipt with no penalty. To our surprise they overcharged our credit card and it has been ONE MONTH now and they still have not refunded our money. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They charge your complete stay up front and have given us every excuse in the book as to why we have not been refunded even though we have a hotel receipt with the correct amount listed. The hotel manager Julian Rocas is the worst, not responding to phone calls, emails, messages. I even had a local go to the hotel and speak to him in Spanish and he continued the run around. He kept passing the buck saying it was out of his hands. This chain has 5 hotels, this is not a mom & pop operation and it caters to Americans. It is also one of the most expensive, $15 drinks and some of the highest food prices in Ensenada. . It is unfortunate that they have chosen to lose so much business for so little money. read more

I am reviewing Torre Lucerna based on their amazing customer service. And the appearance of the hotel. This past weekend we were in Ensenada for a wedding and we had not booked a hotel and decided to stay in Ensenada very last minute. We stopped at Torre Lucerna at about 1:30 am as soon as we drove in we were greeted by Valet. They immediately guided us to a secure place to leave our car so that we could go to reception and see about accommodations for the evening. Unfortunately they did not have any rooms available for the night. But the receptionist when out of his way to call other hotels near the area and help up secure a room for the evening. Before heading out we had the opportunity to see the hotel and it is beautiful and the staff is friendly, caring, respectful and resourceful. We are looking forward to booking our next stay in Ensenada with them and enjoy their facility. read more

A beautiful hotel located right off the main road in ensenada. As soon as you enter the lobby you are impressed with the elegant decorative style. The hotel it self is not that big more reminiscent of a boutique hotel. The staff is very helpful. They had a buffet and al a carte eating in the lobby restaurant. Which was good since we have a small child. The lounge on the roof top is great for a drink and a view. The prices for ocean view are very affordable. read more

This was our first time driving our family to Mexico! Our main purpose was to spend time at City of Angels Orphanage in Tijuana and follow that up with a mini vacay. After hours and hours of countless research on hotels from Rosarito to Ensenada we found Torre Lucerna. We are so,so HAPPY we decided to make the drive to Ensenada and stay at this BEAUTIFUL hotel. It is one of the most aesthetically gorgeous hotels I have ever been to. Every detail was perfection. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. Many speak fluent English. Our room was clean and we loved the modern decor. Beds are super comfy! We had 2 amazing days by the salt water pool eating and drinking. Our only advice is don't order the sushi. Otherwise, all delicious. Breakfast buffet has many options and well worth the price. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends. Also, the drive across border was easy both ways. read more

View was great, just wish there was more room on the balcony to enjoy. Horrible. Nasty. This new hotel is new and has a nice design. The room we booked had a beautiful beach view but the room was so dirty. The ice bucket had an empty open beer can, there was glass on the balcony, the sheets had a stain, the floor was the grossest thing ever the area rug was sticky and filthy you couldn't walk barefoot because your feet would be black and full of hair that wasn't yours. At the bar we ordered 2 mojitos obviously with alcohol and were served without any alcohol. Room service took over an hour for an orange juice coffee and a yogurt parfait. It was delivered with out silverware so I could eat it. I had to go down stairs to get one because the phones didn't work. When I complained I was told I would get a call back never did. I had to call back twice. To only get an offer that next tome I go I would get VIP treatment. I was also asked to please write a letter with my complaints. Definitely not worth the hassle I will not be returning or recommending this hotel. They need to step up their game and have someone supervise the operation in this hotel. read more

We had stayed here last September and we had a great experience, however, this time we were put in a room between two families that had kids. They were running in the hallways and slamming doors from 11pm to 3:45am. I made 3 calls to the lobby and even went to the reception at 12:25 but nothing was done about this matter. I ended up checking out at 11:30. I was offered only 25% off my room. Hands down the best brunch buffet in Ensenada!! Friendly, bilingual staff. The place looks like a 4 or 5 star hotel but dress is casual. Complimentary mimosas, beer, coffee and many fresh squeezed juices. Omelette station, waffles, etc. Lots traditional Mexican dishes. The facility itself I would rate a 5 for aesthetics only. It's visually appealing, very nice hotel with a great view That's It!! The reason I am giving one star is because of the service. I made an online reservation and arrived at the hotel at about 1- 1:30 just to see if possible, our room would be ready although technically check -in is at 3 (per usual). First off when you arrive no one greets you or anything to let you know where to park for check-in, nothing. You walk in the hotel you see a table with hand sanitizer and temp checker but no one is there to do it so no real precautions taken on their behalf. The lobby area is packed with people one again no precautions on how many people are congregated in a single area nor are face masks enforced half of the people wear half don't, whatever to each its own. It just really makes you wonder on there cleanliness practices... We finally get up to the receptionist she checks the reservation and lets us know it will be another hour and half, no problem we had plans to go to La Bufadora. So, we get outside and our car is moved!! It's a pretty good distance from where we left it because once again no one is out there directing cars!! We left our 2 kids in the car (not babies) my daughter said a man just got in and ask to move it why she didn't tell him no.... (eye roll SMH)?? Ok, so fast forward we go about our day get back to the hotel at 6 pm ready to shower enjoy dinner at one of there restaurants, kids enjoy night swimming the whole experience......NOT. Once again, we are told our room isn't ready.... I'm so confused? 5 hours later our room still isn't ready supposedly another 30 min. So, we sit right there in the lobby another 30 min. mind you other couples and groups are coming in and getting key cards but were still waiting technically since 3 since that is check in time. We speak to the reception again she can't give us a time frame now and apparently; they assign you rooms so if "your room" isn't clean then your just SOL not first come first serve for available rooms. We decide to get a drink at this point because we are so frustrated what else can we do, which brings me to another point in their poor customer service. They do not offer you anything while your waiting all this time for your room to be cleaned not a bottle of water complimentary drink NOTHING!! Ok so we go out by the pool ask for a menu we see people have food and drinks the kids are starving at this point. Not to my surprise no one can find a menu, no one comes to let us know they couldn't find a menu, no one comes to take a drink order once again NOTHING! Lol so we walk up to the bar stand there wait for one of the 2 bartenders to ask us what we want that took a good 5 min or so and there was only 3 other people actually at the bar that had drinks already... finally get a drink. At this point its been an hour and a half and our room is still not ready and it takes another hour for someone to come ask us if we want to order anything, still no menu be we order some food. Another point to make is the service is slow it took over 30 min for them to bring the kids 2 sodas and they forget you have to ask multiple times for the same thing. Fast forward 4 more hours so 11 PM 8 HOURS after check-in they finally give us a room but not without trying to tell us check out is 12 pm!! What a joke we at least got them to agree to a 6pm check-out but our whole experience was ruined at this point. They offer no discount, no room upgrade, no free meal, no drink and barley an apology or explanation. The room was as expected it was clean and looks as it does on the website but not worth getting checked in at 11 pm ruining your whole evening plans and experience and definitely not worth the $200 I've had WAY BETTER service at 2- and 3-star hotel. Definitely, never going back.... Reserve at your own risk. Oh, and just to add we were not the only people who's rooms were not ready so this was not an isolated situation one couple who we met outside had been there since 12 and they didn't get their room till around 10 pm. The staff are not prepared for customers, started off bad, they were late getting our room prepared because of a supposed late check out. One staff member said he was going to give us a discount to try and aid the situation, then later on in the evening after FINALLY getting a room he played dumb and merely apologized and refused any form of discount or compensation for time we lost because we had to wait for them to get us another room much later. We went to the back in the evening where there are small fire pits and we tried to enjoy a few drinks and the fire pit died. They had no replacement and we were dressed for the cold but the fire was enhancing the evening until it died right away. It took 6 of their staff to figure out and to tell us they had no more propane tanks to keep the fire going... no logistics... can't get the room set up in a reasonable time, can't get gas replacement and were not accommodating at all about their problems that they burdened us with.... need to get their act together if they want to retain customers. read more

This is a new property having just opened in May. We were there in July and the front desk was a mess. They lost room reservations and couldn't seem to get it together. The staff in the food service area was really good, especially Juan Jose who was extremely helpful but my daughter and I got horrible food poisoning. This caused us to be confined to our room and ultimately leaving early. Therefor, we only were able to enjoy 2 of the 4 days there. We both ended up having to go to the hospital in the states and accumulating doctor bills and loss of work for 7 days. Multiple people in our party got sick. The center for disease even did an investigation because of this. I emailed the property to asked to be reimbursed at least my hotel room money to offset the expense of my medical bills, especially since we didn't get to enjoy the last two days of our vacation. The new manager, apparently just started, said because he wasn't there at the time would have to research this. He has not returned my phone call or email since. I find this extremely disappointing especially with the amount of money it costs per night. We spent a lot of money at this property and ultimately in medical expenses and loss of work that this is the least they could do. read more
