OUR CABIN: A+++ Very clean & comfortable. We enjoyed the nice firepit just outside our cabin. I have four suggestions: 1. Provide better quality towels in the bathroom. Our towels needed replacement as they were non-absorbent; 2. The beds have a thin comforter, but at night it gets cold and a heavy comforter would be better; 3. Provide kitchen towels (paper and cloth); and 4. Put plastic bags in the kitchen's trash container.

Surprisingly it was not busy at all, and our large group were seated immediately. We decided to get a bunch of tapas and entrees to share, along with two recommended bottles of wine. One white and one red, which were both tasty. Bone Marrow + Grasshopper Sauce Roasted Bone Marrow spread over on bread is always delicious! And just in case you're wondering, yes there's real grasshopper in the sauce, and we all ate grasshopper for the first time. It was basically like a spicy marmalade spread. Duck Breast + Orange Sauce & Burnt Onion Duck meat was tender and sauce paired well. Green Catch of the Day Ceviche + Persian Cucumber & Avocado The ceviche was delicioussss. A simple concoction that looked and tasted great with tortilla chips. Potato Gnocchi +Suckling Pig Sauce, Padua, Zucchini This was also yummy. Chewy, tender. Dates + Goat Cheese & Honey This was a very delicious pairing of fruit, cheese and honey. Fried Churros con Dulce de Leche This was probably the best churros I've ever had in my life. And that somebody also include one of the co-owners of the Encuentro winery or Encuentro Guadalupe antiresort, on the way from Tecate to Ensenada, middle of somewhere but really feeling like you are nowhere close from normal life. I heard about this place, half winery, half farm-to-table-high end restaurant, with a touch of 'glamping resort' because I had seen the pictures in some glossy mags about how the rich and famous travel. No worries, if I could go and spend the day, you can do it too. Because you really don't need to fork the $400 per minimalist-repurposed materials-beauty meets form factor cute boxes on the rocks. You can just go for the drinks and the food and you make a nice day trip from San Diego. Looks like crossing from Tecate is the easiest and fastest way, at least on the way back. Encuentro used to be called Endemico, and I am glad they changed the name, as it denotes something negative. Something that neither the environment, not the fertile nature nor the grapes are. Wine is abundant and the fruits from the land too. The winery includes 11 acres of mountain vineyards, you will enjoy a wine tasting bar open to the public from 11 am every day and an underground cellar, for which you need to make a group reservation. The vineyards produce Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Blanc and Nebiolo, among other varietals. This is a very peaceful place to be and extremely photogenic, showing all the splendor of the Guadalupe Valley, making great panoramas. Just watch out with the traffic...not the best drivers around there!

There seems To be 10 or less bungalow type rooms. There are sets of two rooms independently of each other so the hotel is spread out for an awesome sense of privacy. The rooms are very modern with a large bathroom. Perfect space for his and her to get ready and not feel on top of one another. Our room (bungalow 3) had an outdoor staircase which lead to the roof where you can sit and soak up the sun and have an amazing view of Ensenada. I can't wait to come back to this romantic hotel, my boyfriend and I loved it!

Before driving over two hours to the hotel, I called to confirm the address, yet we were still given incorrect directions. When I called for assistance, the receptionist was unable to properly guide us, causing us to arrive late to the winery experience we had booked through the hotel. Although we were assured our late arrival wouldn't be an issue, we still waited for the experience to begin, and what was advertised as a two-hour winery experience lasted only about 35 minutes. The biggest disappointment was the complete loss of running water due to a broken pipe. We were told it would be restored within 2-3 hours, but we had no running water or working toilet for the entire night. The next morning, the shower only had cold water, and the toilet still would not flush. Someone was sent to our room just 15 minutes before checkout, which was far too late to resolve the issue. While I understand unexpected maintenance problems can happen, the lack of communication, inaccurate expectations, and failure to provide a timely solution or any effort to make things right made this a very disappointing experience. I hope management addresses these issues so future guests receive the level of service expected from a property like this. Mind you the was about 3 weeks ago now still waiting for someone to reach out like they promised they would for our money back or another choice we had was 2 night stay on them but of course I haven't heard back and I have reached out about 3x now

The service is top notch. They will go out of the way to make you feel welcomed. The little things in life put a smile on my face and just a "morning" as I take a leisurely stroll in the morning has quite a good feeling attached to it. Most of the visible staff are fluent in English so that's a bonus. Didn't stop me from trying to take my terrible 3 years of Spanish and try to put it to good use though I won't sugar coat the fact that you won't get the true local feel of the city through their hotel food. Of course that's not to say it isn't delicious, it's just that its price feels as if I was still in the states. If it's one thing you got to try though is their shrimp cocktail. It's simply mind blowing. I swear that may have been the reason I came back again. Their drinks won't blow a hole in your pocket either if you're looking for a quick fix. Their property is right on the beach front but in terms of pretty sandy beaches that you can lie around this is not that kind. There are periods of low and high tides that completely vacates the ocean front of water and it allows you to do a bit of exploring on what is the ocean bed. But there is a pool with two jacuzzis that look over the Estero. Also the wifi is free but do be warned it is VERY spotty. I think at one point half of my class was huddled around this one beach chair because for some reason we only got signal there. But hey we're there for class (and relax ofc) and we need to really disconnect ourselves from all the hectic things going around us.

It's on the water and has it's own very tiny beach. They provide an opportunity to jet ski, kayak or just lay about with a drink in your hand. There are several tiers of rooms here and you truly get what you pay for. If you reserve a cheap room next to the parking lot, you will get one that's moderately decorated, with no WiFi access, thin walls and a greater noise level. If you pay more and get a poolside room, your room is well decorated, thicker walls, WiFi access and limited noise. The staff here speaks moderate English and the guests were mostly Mexican. Overall, everyone was friendly. They are pet friendly as well. The bar and restaurant were awesome. The service was terrific, especially considering my pathetic Spanish. The local wines are delicious and anything you order with fish was very fresh. My favorite was the shrimp ceviche tostadas which were out of this world and I ate them every day. There was live music at night, they were mostly playing old American tunes which was kind of funny with the Spanish accents, but the bands were very talented. Overall, our stay was nice, but considering price and location, we will likely explore other options on our next trip.

It's an open road and you will only feel comfortable if you are driving a truck or go 2 miles an hour. Secondly, our room wasn't ready until 3:45pm, the room was nice, but it wasn't cleaned properly. The floor was dusty and there were pieces of food next to the bed. The night tables were also dusty and the sink in the bathroom looked dirty. They advertise a rain shower head, but there's just water going everywhere at changing pressure, it's a nightmare if you are trying to wash your hair! Their spa closes at 3:30pm, so treatments are only available in the morning. Their pool is not heated and in order to access the jacuzzi, you have to pay a day pass at the spa ($80 per person). The complimentary breakfast they offer is just coffee, fruit and small muffin or brownie, but the menu they have is pretty good. We had the fit omelette, the brioche bread and the huarache and it was all very tasty. The one positive thing about this place is their restaurant "fuego". We ate there twice and loooooved their food. I wouldn't really recommend this property unless you have someone else driving you around. After doing more research, we realized there are wayyyy better properties, and this one is not worth the $200 a night.

I loved how our room was its own little cabin and had a private little patio with chairs in the back. It had wonderful lighting options and the king bed was super comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was lighter than I'm used to but it didn't matter because all of the other things surpassed my expectations. They served us a wonderful breakfast outdoors in the morning which made us feel right at home. I got to relax in the hammock outside and even feed the nice donkeys onsite. If you're looking for a quiet, safe, cozy, serene place in Valle, I highly recommend Casa Mayoral. I wish I would have taken more photos but I was too busy enjoying myself and all they had to offer!
