It was my first time staying here at Casa Mayoral over the weekend and definitely will not be my last. This property is so charming and cozy. I loved how our room was its own little cabin and had a private little patio with chairs in the back. It had wonderful lighting options and the king bed was super comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was lighter than I'm used to but it didn't matter because all of the other things surpassed my expectations. They served us a wonderful breakfast outdoors in the morning which made us feel right at home. I got to relax in the hammock outside and even feed the nice donkeys onsite. If you're looking for a quiet, safe, cozy, serene place in Valle, I highly recommend Casa Mayoral. The hosts, Adriana and Stefan, were kind and welcoming, and provided excellent insider recommendations on wineries, restaurants, the local indigenous community, and farmers market - things you don't see in the tourism pages. I have read so many great reviews of Casa Mayoral online including various travel blogs and general where to stay in Valle lists. All the reviews were extremely positive and the pictures were almost too perfect, we were wondering if they were real, but we decided so stay here (glad that we did!) My husband was able to book with Adriana over the phone and they had two side by side cabin/units that were hidden away and more private. We had a deck, a hammock, separate bedroom and separate bathrooms. This worked out well since we were able to share space with another couple (and a dog) and feel outdoorsy, without being uncomfortable or around a bunch of people. The rooms were had were spacious and clean with a seating area and refrigerator. The bathrooms were modern and looked recently upgraded. They had large sink outside the restroom and provided cute touches like natural loose loofah and filtered water in a large bottle to avoid use of plastic. They also had local decor on the walls like macrame plant holders (if interested you can buy them - just ask Adriana). Do not miss breakfast as it was delicious and the staff went all out to cook up some delicious meals. We always had a plate of fresh fruit and a meatless, but filling breakfast entree. One day we had sopes with beans and the other chilaquiles with eggs. They also had some homemade dulce de leche cookies, fresh juice from their citrus trees and coffee. Note that the newer units are here by the lobby / reception area and they are a few units side-by-side. The main parking area is also here. It was nice feeling like were were on a ranch relaxing. The sky was so big and bright and we loved walking around the grounds in the evening. Note that yes you will see bugs around the property and maybe some field mice running around. When we were there there were a bunch of hairy caterpillars outside which were more fascinating than annoying. In regards to the rooms, our friends had an issue with the hot water in their unit and Adriana and Stefan handled it quickly. They also live on the property so it is nice that they are available when needed. Both were very gracious and helpful during our stay. For those of you that like to be prepared when driving you have to take a dirt road to the end of a long street to reach the gate to the property. I drove in a sedan with newer ties so didn't have any issues, but make sure to drive slow! If it is wet or rainy def take a car with more clearance and all-weather tires. Booking based on travel bloggers can be hit or miss, but in this case all the reviews were right. Casa Mayoral is as relaxing, comfortable and inviting as they say. Loved staying here! The daughter who runs the reception is very nice. I did get a private message to book direct for a discount and free breakfast after booking on a major hotels website- I took up the offer and don't regret! I loved the organic feel of the place and even bought a cotton bedspread from them that they use on their hotel beds! The casitas are private and full of private land filled with fruit trees. I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Casa Mayoral! This was my 2nd time staying here and it was even more lovely than the last time. The owners and staff make you feel very welcome and comfortable, it's also a pet friendly B&B which is wonderful. There love of animals makes my heart happy, you can visit with the burros, Willy the Cat, Frida or Cornelio, such sweet pups! The living spaces are really cool and all unique. We have stayed in the loft style rooms before which are very modern and have a natural sustainability style. This time we stayed in the small 2 bedroom house at the front of the property, which has a full kitchen, good sized living space and an outside deck. We just loved it! It was nice since were staying for a long weekend, so we could have the option to cook and stay in if we wanted to in the evening. Some of the best parts of staying at Casa Mayoral though is the property, all the orange trees, succulents, wild flowers it makes for a beautiful place to wake up to each morning and such a relaxing space to take in the fresh air or go for a walk. But let's get serious, it's all about the Breakfast! Perla makes delicious food! We enjoyed such a wonderful and delicious meal either in the dining room or on the patio every morning... fresh orange juice, delightfully spiced cookies, the best coffee, fresh fruit and a rotating menu of delightful breakfast dishes. One day we had chorizo and potato enchiladas with beans and eggs, then chilaquiles and these beautiful like breakfast quesadillas with delicate zucchini and yummy chorizo.... And don't forget the hot sauce!! This has been my go to spot ever since I discovered Valle Guadalupe. They allow me to bring my dogs, and that to me was brownie points. On top of that the rooms are great comfortable the breakfast they serve you the next morning is exquisite! I have not only brought my girlfriend here many times, but I have also brought my friends here. I can honestly say I've stayed at this hotel so many times that we started exchanging bottles of wine when I would arrive. If you're going to Valle Guadalupe, or even passing through this place is a must very warm welcoming, and the hosts speak perfect English as well as several other languages. read more

We had such an amazing stay! Perfectly located with amazing views in the most peaceful of all places. Perla and Paola were amazing. And meeting Rita and Pablo firsthand was a bonus! Rural, cute, super clean rooms, awesome staff. Gloria was very friendly and offered great insights and suggestions on places to go. Breakfasts with Aurora were amazing! The beans are deliciousness, as was the omelet with rajas and the chilaquiles. Coffee was robust, great way to start the day. This place is fantastic! We were lucky enough to stay here on our drive home. Adriana and Stefan (sp?) were the kindest hosts you could possibly meet and their property is picture perfect. The various units are in small groupings and are separated from each other. They are beautiful, well appointed, comfortable and clean. The property is large and very pet friendly. It is the perfect place to enjoy the complimentary breakfast, a book, a glass of wine (or more). The location is only a couple of minutes drive to many of the wineries and restaurants. I would highly recommend staying here and I can't wait to return. read more

If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would. Especially for the service, I would give them 10 out of 5! The hosts are a lovely family, and their dedication to ensuring our comfort and meeting all our needs was incredible, even by the very best service industry standards. One of the owners, Stephan (spelling?) insisted we text or call with any needs, emergencies, etc. "even if it's at 3AM" (bear in mind, this isn't a hotel with a traditional reception staff). I tested this myself when we wanted a spur of the moment bottle of wine around 9PM. I received an instant response offering red, white, or rose, and had a chilled bottle from a well-known local winery in my hands less than 10mins later. Their service includes breakfast, which is included in your fee if you book directly. They even cooked for my uncle, who wasn't on the initial reservation, at no additional charge. The food itself was delicious! They described it as "no frills" but to be honest with you, it was perfect. It was authentic home cooking, and let me tell you, it was lovely to wake up to in the mornings. You go to an beautiful outdoor garden patio near reception, with bushes, vines, and flowers throughout, and they will bring your meal to your table. Fresh fruit, OJ, coffee, chilaquiles, huevos revueltos, quesadillas, chips and salsa, etc. The property is large, with several clusters of buildings with multiple different styles. They're described quite well on their website, including detailed photos, so you can pick whichever variety suits you best. The one we chose this time (I booked another weekend before we even left) was a beautiful blend of rustic sophistication. The room was airy with two of the walls largely composed of windows, high ceilings, and a spacious layout. And yet, when you pulled the floor to ceiling curtains closed at night, and turned on some of the light features, it became remarkably cozy and romantic. The couch and bed were very comfy, so much so that when we laid down on the bed for the first time, just to try it out, we briefly fell asleep. My spouse said that if we were to have a second home, this is exactly how it should be. This is a quiet place, perhaps not the best if you're looking to throw a rowdy party. But the quiet was well suited to our group of 6, and it made for a very relaxing vacation. At night, the stars come out with visibility you rarely get other than if you're camping. In the early morning, fog rolled in, which I found ideal for running. One thing to be aware of is that the property itself is a little off the beaten path, and the Valle is already a bit of a rural area, so that's saying something. But before arriving, the owner texted me extremely detailed driving directions, including coordinates, a maps link, as well as what to program into a gps. It takes quite a few turns down a dirt road, but trust me, it's worth it! I've stayed at several types of places in the Valle, including reservations directly with wineries, eco houses, and more traditional hotels. Casa Mayoral is hands down the very best. I'm pretty sure I'll never stay anyplace else in the area, now that I've stayed here. read more

Having returned to the grind after a weekend at Casa Mayoral, I sit in my office longing to return. Peaceful. Tranquil. Removed from the hectic grind. Casa Mayoral was an incredible respite from modern living. The staff is delightful, knowledgeable and hospitable. Breakfast was delicious and perfectly proportioned. They were able to accommodate my beautiful wife's dietary limitations with aplomb. A great start to each day. The day begins early (for me on a vacation - "morning person" I am not) because the morning sunlight filters in through the curtains. Vegas blackout curtains, they are not. But, that is part of what was so amazing. Relieved of the burdens of alarms, or radio or television, silence can be embraced. Human interaction can be enjoyed without intrusion. And sleep just feels better (the bed was very comfortable...). We also went to bed earlier ("night person" is my default), because it just felt right. Nature. Darkness. Sunrise. Birds chirping, coyotes whelping in the night. The things that used to dictate our circadian rhythm, rather than electronics and obligations. Ahhhhh... Nourished, we were able to venture out to different wineries, which are a bit of an adventure, because the valley is quite rustic. We loved the wineries we visited, including the two very near Casa Mayoral. But, our dinners were epic. Stefan arranged transportation for us to and from dinner both nights of our stay. Transportation was excellent and enabled us to fully embrace the amazing gastronomy and libations available in this beautiful region (which was a wonderful surprise our friends introduced us to). So near to San Diego, yet a world away. We will definitely return. read more

A great place to stay. I drove down to Ensenada to get a surgery preformed on my dog. Casa Mayoral was the only place I could find that allows dogs in the room. The room is nice and the breakfast in the morning is good. The region is a wine area so there plenty of vineyards to see. read more

Our stay at Casa Mayoral was wonderful. The managers and staff were friendly and helpful. The four legged greeters welcomed our dog and we all had a good time during our stay. The property is nestled on the mountain side and has eucalyptus, oak and pine trees with an orange grove. Great views of the Valle which makes this place very relaxing. Their breakfast is very good at Casa Mayoral. It is located in a perfect spot to start your wine tasting adventure of the Valle de Guadalupe. We plan to go back to Casa Mayoral in March. We spent a wonderful two nights in this very special place. It was quiet with a beautiful view from the deck of the mountains and vineyards. Horses running by, quail calling. Our dog could chase a ball right off the deck and the local dogs were friendly. Breakfast was perfect each morning. The casa its self was light and beautiful, really well done! We booked a reservation for July on Booking.com which guaranteed free cancellation by July 5th. 2 days ago we got an email demanding immediate payment or they would cancel. Before we could react they canceled the rooms, even though we are repeat guests. Shame on them. There are many great places to stay in the Valle. Avoid Casa Mayoral. read more

(Posted by my husband on another website): "Our son had visited Casa Mayoral and recommended that we give it a try. When we were in LA we decided to drive down to the Valle de Guadalupe. Just before we set out on the trip one of our son's friends said that Casa Mayoral is a good place to "chill" which worried me more than it should have. It took us about four hours to drive from LA, and about an hour and a half once you cross the border at San Ysidro. (Crossing into Mexico was a snap but try to time your exit back into the US because crossing wait times vary greatly based on the time of the day or week you choose.) The drive along the coast provided some beautiful ocean views. In any event, one of the previous reviewers described Casa Mayoral as "rustic" which is true, but the units are nicely appointed and spacious with pretty touches. They are also spotlessly clean. Our hosts (and their four-legged family) were charming and the staff generally were all very nice We practiced our Spanish, but everyone spoke English well. My wife arranged a massage with Emma Ruz Carcamo and said it was wonderful. CM is family run and it's a quiet place that is good for reading, writing, thinking, walking, drinking the local wine and hanging out with your friends/family. Nevertheless there is a lot to do during the day that it within easy driving distance. Ensenada is a short drive away and full of shops, bars and restaurants. The cruise ships stop there so there is a lot of activity. We also went out on a successful whale watching trip from there. The wineries, of course, are all over the valley and we enjoyed some surprisingly good wine. Other than the amazingly good breakfasts there is no food at CM, FYI! So do bring snacks and be prepared to go out somewhere for your other meals. There's a wine and cheese shop on the highway west of CM, fairly nearby, where we bought some delicious cheeses for snacking/light food in the evening. Another reviewer said they had trouble streaming, but that wasn't our experience so we were able to access Netflix at night. It's probably a good idea to bring extra water. The bottled water provided is fine, however it is nice to have extra. In any event, when we first arrived I was thinking three nights might be too ambitious.
