Did a general search looking for a coastal hotel with good vibe; for future weekend tour groups. And Boy did I find it! Great facilities, the Polynesian Room was awesome! Fixtures in room and hotel were unique, some aged, but really set the great mood. The people working there were smiling and willing to help - and great English (even though I speak Spanish). And the Pet Friendly policy (with a charge) was great for Baden :) Menus were very complete and the food was delicious. I can't eat spicy and they made me pico de gallo without chiles - so nice :) Access to the empty and beautiful beach is by stairs from the hotel - a LOT of stairs :) But the views from above were a nice compromise from hiking to heck! Highest marks and recommendations - I will be using this hotel in my tours :) Muchas Gracias Socios at Pico!

The food tastes fresh, cook to order of course. I stayed at the hotel & with my stay I received 2 margaritas. I only drank one. My meal was less than USD $40.

Great food and service. The location can't be beat as it's close to the wine valley and beach front. The themed rooms are fun. I had the captains quarters. Walked out from my ground level balcony next to the hotel lounge which was cool, yet I imagine it could also be loud if trying to day sleep as live music often okays plays there . Rates are about $180/ night peak season and $20/per night for dog fee. Hotel restaurant if very decent and they make good margaritas.

Fried Sea bass! absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor.

Beautiful, quaint, and clean boutique hotel. The restaurant has the BEST fish you'll ever have in your entire life! I travel from orange county CA to eat here and have an over night stay.

Best place to enjoy the sunset!

If you are looking for a quick, quiet beach getaway this may be the place for you! Its located halfway between Rosarito and Ensenada (near the Devil House). Poco Cielo is aptly named. Its unassuming yet elegant. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The themed rooms have personality and are cozy and relaxing. All of the beach front rooms (which there are plenty) have nice big balconies (with lots of seating) overlooking beautiful ocean views. The beach is quiet and clean, but still has some good activity. We had fun watching the paragliders and ultralights fly by and families and dogs play on the beach. Yes, this place is very dog friendly. They are allowed pretty much anywhere. The hotel also has a restaurant as well as a pub. Both serve good food and drinks. We had a dinner of tacos and shrimp cocktail at the pub and a fresh, delicious breakfast at the restaurant. Its mostly American food with some Mexican options. You don't need to leave the vicinity for anything if you don't want. There is even an Oxxo just down the road. We met some really nice locals when we were at the pub. Seems to be a hangout. They had a great live band. The staff at both the restaurants and the hotel are lovely and accommodating. They also have security. They make you feel very welcome and safe. One thing to know is the hotel sits up on a cliff. You have to go up/down many narrow stairs to get to the beach If you have issues with mobility, there is a sandy ramp to access the beach. Its not as high but still pretty steep and a ways from the hotel. It would be a long walk or a short drive. There are some more accessible public beaches a short drive away though. Also recommend taking cash to avoid having to pay credit card charge fee. This place is nice but its a small business so they dont have quite the resources as larger hotels. Hope you have as much fun as we did!

We stopped at Poco Cielo for brunch on the was down to Ensenada. They have 2 sections, the main area and the lounge. We sat out on the patio, the weather was great and the view was amazing. Service was excellent and breakfast was reasonably priced. We enjoyed a pitcher of mango margaritas with brunch - YUM!! Everything was made to order and very fresh. It was a great place to start our mini vacation. They were doing construction on some of the rooms, I was told it's a nice place to stay. There's a private beach at the bottom of the location. A nice place to get away from the crowd.

Beautiful views excellent mango margaritas not too crowded unlike other places. Delicious guacamole & chips & salsa. My son loves the whole fried fish (Pescado entero frito) I love everything I've had there in the mornings I've had great omelettes. You can also walk down onto the beach from the stairs at the restaurant.

We wanted to try a new place cause we go to Rosarito all the time. Boy did we find a great one! We were treated great from the start. We stayed from Thu-Sun for the 4th of July weekend. I can't say enough how cool the staff is. All cool ass people who were so accommodating. And bay far, they have the BEST restaurant food on the strip. We tried them all. What they have going on as far as the room themes is so cool. We stayed in the Egyptian but now just have to experience the others. We travel a lot and with this place, you cant go wrong. Not enough stars to show how much I appreciated their hospitality. Thank you guys!

I'm updating my review for this place after spending a good amount of time here and visiting quite often. The staff is super friendly and accommodating to your requests. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Things that I like and have had more than once are chorizo w potato, salmon scramble, French toast and huevos divorciados. Fruit is seasonal so make sure you ask what's available. I also love their fish ceviche and shrimp tacos. They have a guitarist in the mornings that sings at your table and a guy that plays music from 5-9pm (send him a whisky & give him a tip-optional of course). Lastly, I have to say they are doing a great job during Covid and taking all precautions & sanitation seriously. If visiting, please wear your mask people! Also, remember things are much slower in Baja & you may wait a bit for your check/food. Food is fresh and will be hot. So...relax & enjoy the view!

What a great find on this little strip of the Baja coast! Poco Cielo is a fun little hotel on the side of a cliff overlooking a private sandy beach. There are 16 theme rooms (think Madonna Inn on a smaller scale). The rooms are HUGE, except for the Medieval Room. We stayed in this room which was small, quiet and looked just like a room inside a castle. Stone floors, stone walls, stone bathroom. - it was adorable! We also spent one night in the Polynesian Room which was gigantic with a bar, private deck, three sliding doors that looked out at the ocean, stone shower and a fun Polynesian theme. I'd love to describe all of the rooms, but it's far more fun to look at the pictures on the website. They have rooms for every dream - Roman, Cowboy, even a room that looks like an eagle's nest with a suspended bed! There's a small restaurant and bar with local fare and 99 cent margaritas. As with most places in Baja, they only accept cash for the restaurant, but they will take dollars or pesos. Everyone speaks English for those of you lacking in Spanish (like me), but they are happy to teach you Spanish phrases if you want to learn. I highly recommend this special place for anyone visiting Baja Norte. Make your reservations early though because they fill up fast.

I wish I could give this place 5 stars... Here's my logic....since I am reviewing both the hotel and restaurant together, my rating will be 3 stars. First, let me say the view is absolutely incredible from our room and the hotel restaurant. That I would give 5 stars for. That alone is worth the price of admission. Ok so now for the not so great. We were charged an extra $18 per person (if more than 2 people per room) per night. There wasn't even an extra "full" bed for the two extra ppl staying with us. They had a small futon that was big enough for a small teenager. We had to request a portable bed that was basically a low quality foldout cushion for a 6'1" person. On top of that, they didn't provide the proper sheets/blankets/towels to accommodate us all. We went down and asked for all these items and they were great about it and gave us what we needed. Def would have earned an extra star if they had provided these basic necessities from the beginning. The restaurant service was extremely slow. The food, imho, was bland. The fish in my fish taco was undercooked. The breading could have used an extra minute in the fryer. Chips n pico de gallo were awesome. Couldn't stop myself from eating so much of it. Anyway...enjoy the photos. The room is much nicer in person. The toilet room is pretty short though. If you have long legs, you kight have trouble closing the door.

The room itself was cozy and comfortable. I love how they show how the rooms was constructed with hay. They do have a small gas heater but due to the unique construction, the room was pretty warm. The place has that hacienda feel with the separate kitchen, water fountain in the middle and orange groves everywhere! I love that they have rosemary and lavender plants everywhere! They have handmade body wash and lotion, which I fell in love with so of course I had to buy some to take home. The owner and the workers are very friendly and information and welcoming. The breakfast provided was so fresh and yummy. The spread consisted of cheese, tomato and basil, olives, toast, and assorted homemade marmalade and jellies. They even make a mean ham and egg sandwich! This B&B was so wonderful that I can't wait to come back even though I'm tempted to stay at other places, I know I will definitely come back to this spot again and again!

I was surprised to see all the wonderful reviews as everything else I had found had average reviews and none of those had rooms to rent. I sent an email to Irene and she quickly responded with what she had available and the rates. Once the room was paid for via PayPal, Irene sent a very detailed map on how to travel to the place. Being familiar with Ensenada already, it did not seem to complicated to locate. Now the last 3 km is dirt but it is well-maintained road with some minor ruts towards the end. There should not be any concern for a vehicle as long as you travel within a reasonable speed. The B&B was very easy to spot as is made up of approximately 4, very colorful structures. Once we figured out where to park (there are a couple of driveways), we were greeted on the patio by Irene. She gave us a walk around the property to explain all the amenities. Being familiar with the area, we were a little concerned about food for dinner as there are not too many options at La Bufadora and we did not want to drive back to Ensenada at night. To our surprise, Irene mentioned that dinner is available for a nominal fee and she has a menu with things available during the day if you choose to stay put for lunch. We chose a room that faced the sunset, with a nice balcony to relax on. The room was small but very comfortable with a private toilet and shower. It also had a small TV with DVD and VHS players as well as several blankets that you can use to wrap yourself up in when you watch the sunset. Now I must say all the meals were amazing! During our two-night stay we dined on a Mediterranean whitefish with a crab pasta. We had chicken mole, a very amazing egg scramble with a huge selection of fruits for breakfast and some wonderful coffee and juices. We requested a midday snack of guacamole and chips as well as chicken quesadillas. Both were prepared promptly and tasted very good. After our meals in the evening, Irene and Bruce as well as the guests enjoyed great conversation and listened to Bruce play an Indian flute and tell stories while we took in the sunset. At night it was incredibly quiet, almost hard to get used to as there were no sounds. The bluff that they are located on has almost no traffic as there are very few homes in the area and they are spread apart. But this amazing silence worked perfectly to allow us to decompress during our stay. We filled our days with some walks along the bluffs and even made the trek down to a very secluded beach. The beach did take some physical effort as you needed to use a rope to descend approximately 70 feet. We did see another cove that had a pathway to it but it did not have a sand beach to relax on but the waters appeared very clear. One thing we found also very relaxing to do was to watch was a small commercial tuna operation. We were entertained with the fishermen tending to their nets and gathering tuna. We could watch this from the bluffs. One thing to note is that the property sits on a hillside and that each structure is at a different level. If you are needing a wheelchair or have difficulty walking on uneven surfaces, this would be a difficult place to get around in my opinion. Nearby is the tourist site of La Bufadora, which is worth seeing at least once, as it is supposedly one of the largest blowholes in the world. For us, the sheer number of vendors that you are approached by takes away some of the appeal so we decided not to drive there (you could walk there too) and just stay at the B&B to just take in the relaxing atmosphere during our stay. Now Bruce and Irene mention that there are other services available as in a wonderful masseuse that lives in the area as well as an individual who can aura readings or something of that nature. The B&B has what can be best described as a small clubhouse, containing hundreds of LPs, DVDs and VHS as well as telescopes and binoculars, games and there is a bocce ball court outside. There are also kayaks, boogie boards and bicycles to rent at a very nominal rate so if you wish your stay to be a little bit more physical, there are many options. WiFi is free during the morning hours and a charge or approximately $5 for a full day (usage limited). We've traveled many times to Rosarito and Ensenada and stayed in the larger hotels but this B&B is now our default place to stay as we found it just an amazing escape. I highly recommend staying there.
