We had planned a seafood meal last night. The restaurant we had planned was closed, thank God! Our concierge recommended Villa Marina! The service, views, food were all amazing. The four of us all ordered differently. We had lobster, sea bass, fish & clams & one lowly Ensenada taco. We all agreed our dinner was the best ever. They had several salsas and chips on the table all of them perfect! Our hotel had a van to deliver us there but we had to make our own way back! We tried Uber, long wait, we asked for a taxi but one of the staff loaded all four of us into his Mustang and took us back to our hotel. Our 54 anniversary is Thursday. We are going back there with a table by the water because what we saw of sunset and our meal was so outstanding that we must go one more time!

Amazing experience. Service was above and beyond a 10 star experience. Food was very delicious and the drinks outstanding. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Sunset was beautiful that day and overall great experience.

This place is very popular, people are always coming and going. My room was actually quite large with a nice balcony facing the ocean. I had the fortune of occupying a newly renovated room. My only complaint is the amount of noise that makes its way into the room from the exterior hallway. As soon as you enter on my left by the doorway was the bedroom which had a wall and windows facing the hallway. I guess, I was fortunate because most of my neighbors were quiet and respectful. The hotel can easily solve this problem by utilizing more sound absorbing materials. The hotel's restaurant has an outstanding breakfast buffet which was the most memorable experience of my stay. It's worth staying here just for the delicious breakfast. Would I stay here again? Most definitely, the hotel's proximity and food made all of the difference. There are also trails along the ocean front which I made use of after breakfast.

That killed the appetite pretty quick. We also ordered wine but we did not ask for the price and they ended up pouring a very expensive bottle. It was good but make sure you ask because the bill was pretty high We also booked this place because paddle boarding was offered. When we went to rent the boards they said they were not renting them out. Major bummer, if I would have known I would have brought my own board Over all nice hotel but I'm not sure if I would go back

Tons of great history in this hotel as it has hosted water sports in the past, off-road racing, and beauty pageants. Walking distance from the beach-five minutes, driving distance from the historic town shopping center. This hotel is very well kept, and I believe a highlight of it would have to be the pool area. Decorated with palm trees and well kept giant birds of paradise. There are three functional hot tubs in addition to the very large lap pool surrounded by reclining beach chairs. The inside of the facility appears aged, but not in a degrading way, but rather gives off retro vibes. I did not have the opportunity to eat in their facilities. They did provide you with two standard size water bottles in addition to coffee and cream. My room was very well kept, was clean and definitely gave off resort vibes. The staff here was very friendly and very flexible when it came to park in the car in the registration area. They provide self parking or valet parking for a small additional fee. The parking lot is gated and is monitored 24 seven by security personnel. In this hotel, I felt safe and did not get a sense that I was a rough area. Reason why I did not rate this hotel a five-star has to do with the water coming from the shower. It is a known fact that while in Mexico, it's not recommended to consume water coming out of any home faucets or showers. Upon showering, I noticed the water having a mineral/sulfuric scent. It wasn't overpowering nor overbearing, but to those sensitive to smells, this could've resulted in a poor experience. At this time, I am not sure if it has to do with San Nicolas being an older hotel or if this is a common occurrence with hotels throughout Mexico. I would recommend staying here however (TIP) I would also suggest researching the water issue with nearby hotels if you are particular about water smells.

I'll list the pros and cons. Pros: Beautiful view of the marina, though they tried to give us a room, the same floor as the lobby, though I booked a sea view room. Thankfully they changed it when I spoke up. Staff speaks fluent English Spacious room (Jr suite) and a lovely balcony I loved having a coffee maker and a fridge Pretty Americanized if that's your thing and full of tourists You feel especially safe with the guard, who asks you to verify your info Restaurant on the premises though you have to pay for it Cons: VERY noisy rooms with paper thin walls You can hear everyone, alongside their kids walking in the hallway (floors are tile) The rooms are outdated and the carpet is dirty Very loud at night (the hold events at the hotel premises but the noise goes down past 11pm) Our TV was broken but thankfully the bedroom one worked. The lighting in the rooms is a bit dark and depressing. A remodel is much needed Nice hotel, but if want something more clean, up to date and quiet, this is not the one. If you desire security as your number one (most hotels tho have a guard) definitely consider this one

WARNING We bought their time share 3 years ago and are VERY…read moreSORRY we did. BEFORE we purchased it, they showed us a nice newly remodeled room with a small kitchenette area and mini sink. We live in San Diego and liked the proximity. It was our anniversary and my husband wanted to get me a nice gift. He paid nearly 20k for 2 weeks per year in a Presidential suite which supposedly sleeps ten people. They incentivized the purchase with a one X one exchange at a hotel in Valle de Guadalupe and a free weekend stay in a smaller suite. They have NEVER honored the incentives, the availability to the suite we purchased has become difficult, and the rooms we are given are not the same as we were shown before purchasing. We have complained to no avail, they promise to call to discuss but never do. The hotel has become run down even in the three years after we purchased it. The children area is dangerously neglected, the small "beach" area (there is no beach access) has become dumpy and dirty, the furniture is broken and dirty, no cushions on the sofas, the indoor pool is always full of children and teenagers, the water is cloudy, the adjacent hot tub is dirty and the bathroom inside is just NASTY always. There is an almost full size refrigerator in front of the bed in one of the bedrooms (unlike in the room we were shown) and there is usually something broken in the bathrooms when we stay there. They have obviously over sold and continued to remodel other rooms while depleting the inventory of the suite we purchased, this has affected availability. When we call, even beyond the 30 days they said would secure our (preferential due to our type of membership) place, they just tell us there is no room unless we accept whatever room they want to give us. I am Mexican and it is not pleasant to give this report. Mexico has many beautiful places and there are plenty of honest people there too.
