this is a popular local chain serving "western style" sushi. If you are a purist, this is not for…read moreyou. I think it may be Korean-run/owned. Their menu had some Korean dishes too like Bulgogi and LA galbi. I came for dinner with some relatives. We ordered a small combination platter for 4 and separate soba combo with tempura and sashimi. Food items: edamame - standard frozen stuff heated up. Needed more salt. 3/5. miso soup - watery, nothing in it. no tofu chunks, no green onions, etc etc. 2/5. Sashimi: atlantic salmon - pretty standard. some very sloppy knife work though, with uneven pieces and random thin belly pieces Tuna - looked like maguro, ahi, albacore - tasteless sadly. It had the right colors but the texture was somewhat mushy and didnt taste like much. Some pieces were semi-frozen yellow-tail - again, semi-frozen and tasteless octopus - a bit tough, really thick cut, served very cold and a bit off-putting Escolar - the "white tuna" that isnt actually Tuna and really just cheap Escolar that is awful for you. This is my tell-tale sign of a really low quality sushi place. sashimi overall - 2/5. At least nothing had gone bad. nigiri: atlantic salmon, maguro, albacore, and a mystery seared one with white flesh - I suspect this is Escolar. None of the rice was seasoned, there was no wasabi in any of them. The fish slices were sloppy too. One piece of tuna nigiri had 2 strips of tuna on it instead of a properly cut and formed slice. nigiri overall 2/5. green dragon roll - tempura shrimp inside with lots of avocado - it tastes the way you think it would. Heavy on the tempura batter though which got soggy fast. very one-dimensional. All you taste is avocado and mayo. 2.5/5. salmon lover roll - this is a bigger roll with spicy salmon inside and on top. Heavy on the mayo, also one dimensional. 2.5/5. Crazy Crab roll - this is a roll with imitation crab+mayo inside, then with a mound of more imitation crab+mayo stacked on top of each roll slice. This was just gross. You might as well spoon a jar of mayo and eat some imitation crab sticks. 1/5. Not a single bit of real crab in this. there were 3 pcs of california roll (with a chunk of more imitation crab stick in it typical of Toronto rather than the mayo crab salad in other places) and 3 pcs of spicy tuna roll. Both average for this type of place, 2.5/5. Soba noodles - the noodles were the dry kind they cooked and to my surprise it was not overcooked - texture was pretty good as far as dry noodles go. The sauce was served in a bowl made of ice. A bit of green onion and wasabi on the side. The ice bowl was the worst part of this dish - it just melted really fast and diluted the sauce to taste like nothing. Didnt help that their serve was so slow and it kept on melting while we waited. Tempura - 2 shrimp, 1 broccoli, 1 yam, 1 squash, and another veg piece i forgot. Thick batter, but crispy. Sauce was average. 3/5. free dessert of sliced (sour) oranges. Service: this was a huge problem. VERY slow. Each table has a call button but it was useless. Nobody ever came when we rang the bell (and yes it does work; we can hear the bell). We still had to flag them down. Even then half the time they forgot what we asked for. And we arent even being demanding. They completely forgot to give us utensils and dishes but brought the food out so we just sat there watching the ice melt into our soba sauce until they came after the 3rd reminder. They seemed overwhelmed and understaffed. Plenty of free parking out front in the plaza. The restaurant itself is clean enough but their seating arrangement is odd. They have dividers making it look like booths but really they are just chairs around a table. A bit awkward to climb in and out but doable. They do offer really big portions of food and you wont leave hungry. Overall, the quality here is severely lacking if you want decent quality sushi. It isnt dangerous though - nothing was foul or rotten/gone bad. Nothing about the sushi here is remotely authentic. If youve had good authentic sushi from Japan or sushi mecca's like LA or Vancouver, you will be appalled at what they serve here. But if you want typical "westernized" sushi then this place is similar to a typical AYCE sushi joint, except its not AYCE. I cannot recommend this place. I can safely say I will never be back here again.

5 Stars - Deserved and Delivered!…read more After a fun-filled, wholesome day at Canada's Wonderland, we were craving sushi and looked up a spot nearby with great reviews. That's how we found Kin Sushi in Vaughan--and let us tell you, those 5-star reviews were absolutely on point. From the moment we stepped in, everything exceeded expectations. The taste? Incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully crafted. We tried a mix of rolls and nigiri, and each bite was better than the last. The presentation was outstanding--true culinary art on every plate. You could tell a lot of pride and precision goes into their food. And the service? Just amazing. Friendly, fast, and attentive without ever being intrusive. The staff made us feel right at home, which was the perfect way to end our long day. Whether you're coming off a day at the park or just in the mood for fantastic sushi, Kin Sushi is an absolute must-visit. We fully agree with the rave reviews--and we'll definitely be back!

There are only about 4 to 5 spots in the front, and while there are some smaller plaza parking lots nearby and another parking lot across the street, most of the spots are marked for whatever store they're in front of, so park at your own risk. Upon entering, there aren't that many tables either. There isn't a lot of room for bigger groups but they can merge some of the tables together. The biggest issue for us was definitely how long and uneven the wait for the food was. We ordered at 12:15 PM and got our salads about 10 minutes later, but after that, the food came out pretty sporadically. The first actual dish didn't come until 12:44 PM, which was the tempura from the two-person set. Parts of the other meals and the rest of the two-person set slowly came out between 12:46 and 12:49 PM. The 30-piece sashimi and sushi set didn't arrive until 1:04 PM, almost 50 minutes after we ordered, and the actual salmon teriyaki which was just a small salad, salmon teriyaki and steamed rice from the bento was the last thing to come out at 1:09 PM, about 54 minutes after ordering. By that point, we had already finished the entire two-person set and another person had finished their udon and sushi combo. It's just not ideal when you're eating with a group and some people haven't even gotten the main part of their meal while everyone else is already finished. It also didn't seem like it was only our table. The table in front of us had a pasta order that seemed to have been missed. We heard the server say it was about to be ready, and then heard someone from the kitchen respond with something along the lines of, "There's another order for it?" So I do think the timing and communication between the kitchen and servers is something they need to improve on. We were served our salads first, but didn't get our miso soups until we asked for them. They were planning to serve them with the meals, but since we had already been waiting so long, we ended up just asking if we could have them first. For food, I got the two-person lunch set for $52, which came with a large veggie udon, 9 pieces of sashimi, 6 pieces of sushi, an additional 6 pieces of a classic roll, and tempura. We chose the spicy scallop maki for our roll. The sushi and sashimi were good, and the tempura was good as well. The veggie udon was a little disappointing though. It had one bok choy, a few pieces of mushroom, and then was mostly just strands of onion. The spicy scallop maki was also just okay since I couldn't really taste much scallop. Price-wise, I do think it's a little on the higher side for what you get. The quality was good overall, but for the price I would've liked a little more, especially considering the wait. Between how difficult parking is and how long and unevenly the food came out, I'm not really in any hurry to return. I think the wait bothered me more because we were eating as a group, and by the time two people finally got their food, the rest of us were completely finished. If they can improve the timing of getting everyone's meals out somewhat together, it would make the experience a lot better. 5% off with cash.

I've only ever been here for lunch, and I've only eaten 5 or 6 different dishes because I'm always eating off the lunch special menu. This isn't a bad thing though. Every meal I've had has been great, and I feel no need to venture outside of that zone for now! The first thing I note about their lunches is they're just plain inexpensive. Most are about $10 and come with two small soups (one miso and another one that they don't mention on the menu but comes with most of the meals and is spectacular), a small salad, noodles, a bit of fruit, rice, and a main. Along with chicken and beef dishes, they also have a noodle soup (which is delicious) as well as a sushi dish on the menu (which I'll never try, but I've heard is great), so there's something for everyone. Service is almost always polite and fast, and although the place is a bit older in appearance, it's well take care of and inviting. I'm definitely looking forward to many more meals here!

This cozy sushi restaurant has all the typical sushi restaurant staples (sushi rolls, nigiri sushi,…read moresashimi, donburis (rice bowls), udon noodles, and a few Korean dishes such as bibimbap (the owners are Korean). There was no parking right outside of the restaurant (main road), but you could park on the side residential streets or in a large plaza nearby (about 10 minutes walk). The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the plethora of kids' drawings plastered all over the front door, walls, and the interior of the restaurant. Every table had a set of crayons and paper that you could use to draw. It seemed very family and kids-friendly. The interior was small, cozy, and had a very homey vibe. We were seated in a booth which added to the coziness feeling. Food came out relatively quickly, and everything was decent. Unagi Don came with a good amount of unagi and avocado slices, on top of a heap of rice. Kaizen Don was excellent - it came with thick slices of sashimi (salmon, tuna, shrimps, and imitation crab). Every donburi (rice bowl) came with house green salad and miso soup. We chose to add on a few extra green salads. Sushi rolls that we ordered as a group all came on one long wooden board - perfect for sharing. I wish the asparagus in the asparagus roll wasn't battered and deep-fried (tempura style). My favourite sushi roll was the El Dorado Roll (without rice - salmon, tuna, cooked shrimp, imitation crab, cucumber, and avocado wrapped in cucumber which added extra crunch). Service was efficient, nice, and friendly.
