One of the better Mexican restaurants. Portions are large. Not too much cheese like some other places. Service is always fast & friendly and very accommodating. People must love to spend their birthdays here. We must have heard the wait staff sing their version is Happy Birthday at least a half dozen times in the 90 minutes or so that we were there. I did a "to go" order. I had an enchilada and a tamale. I hadn't been here for a while because I went to the Tacoma one more recently and was disappointed. So glad we stopped by because all the flavors were still there and the reasons why Torero was my favorite place. I don't consider myself as a Mexican food connoisseur but nothing was dry, undercooked and had flavor. Also I love the cabbage slaw that comes with the combos. Believe it or not, I can't find anyone else that has it, including the Tacoma one. Well... they said they had it and tried to quickly concoct something w/ lettuce but it was sweet. Came here to eat some lunch with my family and left SUPER full. These potions were ginormous, so expect to take home leftovers. The food itself was nice and hot as well as very tasty. I got the Express Burrito, which was huge and I could only eat about half of it, but was very good. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and service was quick. We came in at 12:30 on a Saturday and there was plenty of open seating. The restaurant itself was a lot darker than I expected, so it was a bit hard to see in certain seating. I forgot why we don't come here very often but now I remember. It's so-so for an above average bill. The kid didn't like the grilled cheese that they used. I guessed he was expecting more the ooey-gooey cheese, not that flat ironed one. The tacos almost instantly fell apart. Too bad they weren't doubled so it could withstand the juices. I've come here with coworkers and they are always so friendly and attentive even when we have a big group. My go to meal is the chicken enchiladas suizas. My fiancé has been here numerous times and says that he leaves this place happy every time. The food is consistent and for a great value. We stopped here for lunch and left incredibly full. DO NOT miss their happy hour. I could have eaten on this burrito for 3 meals. We love sitting at the bar, in part, due to the friendly bartender that is always there. I love this place so much and have been coming here for many years with my family and friends but since they've gotten new owners the consistency of quality is going down a bit when it comes to flavor. My fajitas came unseasoned the last two times I ordered them. They also got rid of lunch specials which makes it so barely anyone comes in at those hours. People don't want to spend $25 on lunch and they shouldn't have to. I will still gladly support this business and the new family that owns it now but I won't be coming here as frequent. Came in on a Saturday around 7:30pm and they had a strawberry margarita for $11 on their chalkboard special so I ordered 2 when the tab came they charged me $14 plus $1 for strawberry a total of $15. This place is comfort and lively at the same time. It is a couple blocks away from the movie theater in the landing. There was not a long wait coming in at peak dinner rush on a weeknight. It is definitely more relaxed and for families to enjoy. Chips came out piping hot crispy with not only salsa dip but also a fried bean dip. I ordered the carnitas steak and it came out with bell peppers, onions, and beans. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium pink and flavorful. It also came with sour cream and guacamole. My Wife and I were invited by friends for Dinner at Torero's in Renton. (Renton is kind of crime-sketchy to us; but,) Hey! Mexican food! We jumped in the car. We found Torero's to be in a safe part of Renton. But - street parking only! Not good for an old guy who can't walk very far. But, we made it! Such a nice place inside and out, great atmosphere. And the Staff! They really welcomed us, made us comfortable. When our friends arrived we were seated and the Service was Top Drawer beginning to end. The Food, OMG - the crafters in the kitchen know what they're doing. This was not suburban shopping mall Mexican fare. What we received was so fresh, so good, so well crafted, prepared and presented - and so delicious I wanted to take some home! Torero's is no joke; they're for real; they're proud of their place, their Service and their food and it shows. By the time we finished and were leaving, the line was out the door, people waiting to get in! Do I recommend Torero's? Resounding YES!!! We'll be back to Torero's no doubt.
