If I ordered a margarita or a cocktail I would tip. The food runner was very nice. I had to try the nachos. $10.99 and I did not add protein (chicken was $3.75). They were okay. Queso got coldfast. We've never had a bad meal at a Torchy's. Today was no exception. My wife enjoyed a Democrat in a bowl. Barbacoa, avocado, onions, cotija cheese, tomatillo salsa and corn....she added some breaded and fried avocado to the mix...i got a few tastes, i should have added the fried avocado to my taco. I enjoyed a secret menu item....A matador, a flour tortilla wit' melted cheese and a fried corn tortilla inside wit' smoked beef brisket, brushfire jalapenos, pickled onions and jalapenos, mixed cheese, avocado, sour cream, cilantro, tomatillo salsa, this was rated one jalapeno for heat level...it brought more than one for my tastebuds...me likey! Customer service was great from the moment you walk in. I personally love the Torchy's locations that have kiosks to order from--this one didn't, but that's just a personal preference, not a dealbreaker. I popped in for a margarita and some queso, and as always, they hit the spot. The margarita was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of alcohol, and the queso... always a win. Parking wasn't an issue for me since I came around lunchtime, but I can definitely see how it could get tight since they share the lot with H-E-B and a bunch of other stores in the shopping center. I have special place in my heart...er tummy for Torchys. That being said, not all Torchys are made alike. When frequenting this area, this is my local Torchys. If you're new to Torchys: *always order the queso *expect non-traditional Texified tacos and cuisine. Trust me, you'll get it once you walk in through door If you're new to this location know: *they do have a bar *they have a patio where you can play peeping Tom to La Madeline patrons *In my experience I've received just as many incorrect or ill prepared orders as correct ones. Don't get me wrong, I've never received a fully incorrect order, but I have ordered online only to find Nookies are not offered yet again, arrived to pick up food that had been sitting far too long (#cold queso), have received overly fatty fajita meat in my taco, received an order without diablo sauce or guac in my queso, requested a taco without one ingredient to find the ingredient was never removed once I bite in (this has happened 2x now), received mislabeled to go tacos, and more times than not, have picked up orders missing my sauce (most tacos come with a salsa or sauce)). All of that being said, I'd assume consistency is a priority amongst the franchise. While Torchys remains a spot I secretly crave regularly, this particular location may have a bit of work to do on the consistency front. Wish them all the best! read more

My friend and I come here a lot just for the queso! It's so spicy and creamy and yummy!! We like to sit at the bar for quick service, but sometimes the bartender is also working the counter service, like on my last visit. There was a long line of people ordering and it made it hard to ask for anything. It kinda defeats the purpose of sitting at the bar. I do understand that sometimes places can be short staffed, but when we came a few days ago, it looked like there was only person working in the front, I felt bad for the bartender. Wow! Torchy's finally ran me off. Loved their menu for years but walked in tonight to find 2 kiosk order boards in place of a friendly employee. Not user friendly but no one appeared at the one remaining register to help or take my order and the kiosk still wanted a 20% tip (don't think so) I searched for my sauce I like on my taco and used the button but it came out dry anyway. The only person around to ask for help was the bartender and she slowly finished pouring a beer and cut up a lime before stomping over to the kitchen to help me, imagine me bothering her as a customer in a kiosk run restaurant now. I drove out of my way 15 minutes to get to torchy's I had a five dollar off card I walked up to the register told the employee that I would like a hillbilly queso To Go and that I had the five dollar card he immediately walked away and came back with a manager the manager said "how can I help you" I said well I was telling him that I would like a large hillbilly queso To Go and that I had this five dollar card. Spicy! I've been to other Torchy's and didn't recall that their tacos are spicy. I'm personally not a fan of anything spicy. I'm not sure if I missed that on the menu when I ordered them. The cops are really good though. I got the chicken tacos which have pick in them. One of the staff there told me that anything with pico there would be spicy when I asked her what was making my tacos hot. I also bought a brownie. It was pretty good although a tiny bit chalky. I do like that they're always trying new things with their menu. I will be back but ask which tacos can be made without jalapeños. read more

And the salmon was seasoned well in the salmon taco, my only problem was the corn tortilla the taco was in. It did not taste good to me so I would suggest asking for the flour tortilla. Went on a Saturday morning, had never tried their breakfast tacos before. Tried the taco of the month - the Roscoe (chicken, bacon, waffle, egg in a flour tortilla). Chicken was under seasoned, the bacon and the syrup were the only real flavor in the taco. A far cry from the last couple of tacos of the month, which were both excellent. Service was fast, location was clean. All in all a good experience, I just can't recommend the Roscoe taco. read more
