I ate here because I wanted a burrito with beef fajita meat. There were two people working and I'm not sure if what I wanted was communicated correctly (see photo). The burrito was huge and mostly good but the meat didn't taste like beef fajita meat. Also, I ordered the California Burrito which is $13.59, and a 32 oz. Dr. Pepper $3.69 which should have come to $18.60 after tax, but was charged $20. I paid a $2 tip - even though I was the only person in the restaurant at 7:45pm on a Thursday. After a session at the gym, my friends and I wanted a good fajita dinner. We decided to take a to-go order from here. We were treated by a nice waitress on the phone, but then she became rude when she couldn't hear us because of the loud music in the restaurant. We ordered enough for us four with refried beans, corn tortillas, and salsa and chips. Thank goodness my friend reviewed what was in the bag because she gave us charro beans and flour tortillas. She was trying to be nice even though there was sass in her voice, probably because she was the only worker. The food itself was quite lackluster. Chicken was dry and flavorless. I've been ordering breakfast multiple times a week from here for years but if i'm being honest, my order is almost never correct. i get the same exact thing, egg&cheese taco with beans. that's it. and just within the last week i've receive my tacos without eggs 3 times. My first experience with this location was unfortunately not pleasant. I door dashed an order thinking that I would come from the Taqueria Arandas Main Street location which is closer to our house. My order came from this location and I had missing items, all of the ten fajita tacos were mostly fat. The fajita quesadilla arrived as cheese. I really do not like to giving negative reviews but I have to be honest. None of the food was actually picture worthy but I did take a pic of all the fajita fat. Lesson learned, if I don't have time to run by the Main Street location, I just won't order. read more

The reason for the 1 star is because.... I didn't receive part of my order which is very upsetting. The cicadas were a bit dark meaning they weren't good because they were still cold so it wasn't the temperature. The topping for the flautas could of been separated in a container because now it looks like a big blob The burrito was beyond soggy and the texture was horrible. I do love visiting Arandas restaurants pretty often in Houston and I find that my experience tends to be pretty consistent with the order I prefer. The big ole California burrito. I came in to order this thing to go and I realized the waitress had trouble hearing/understanding me which tipped me off that this would take a tiny bit more effort on my part to use what spanish I know. I managed to get the order across and payment and the wait was only 5 minutes before receiving the best burrito I've had in years, accompanied by the spiciest green salsa I've had in years. I gave a 3 rating but the stars keep saying 4 no matter how many times I try to fix. Staff was friendly and didn't get frustrated I didn't speak Spanish. They were patient enough to try to understand my order. One of the staff was cleaning the door when she seen me coming and opened the door for me (very nice). They had a breakfast menu and lunch/dinner menu. I didn't have to wait long for my breakfast tacos and potatoes. The food was decent but I wouldn't order it again. I'll try something else off the menu next time. The green salsa was amazingly delicious (wish I had a bucket of it). The eggs and chorizo were a bit dryer than I'd like and the potatoes were cooked in salsa I believe. I guess I was expecting home fries (as I'm typing I realized she said Mexican potatoes- I didn't know there was ever a dish called Mexican potatoes but learned something new). I was looking for a new place for cheap tacos.. Arandas hit the spot and then some.. Tacos are $1.50. They have breakfast tacos as well. Never thought I would like cactus, but the eggs and cactus was very delicious! The tacos are fresh made-to-order, hot, and stuffed with lots of meat. I can take them home and they are still very hot. The charros beans have lots of good bacon.. I had been going to La Tapatia Mexican Restaurant on Richmond, but have been left a bit disappointed as of late.. 100% Taquito is another good place I like.. For close and fast (since there are 25+ locations), Arrandas is the spot for great, affordable Mexican food. Oh, an interesting tidbit... I ate here today and it was the worst decision of my life. As eating the torta Cubano which was very tasty until noticing a little black thing run across my thumb and throwing the torta on my plate to examine it to see that it's a tiny roach I ran to the restroom and vomited horrifically. Waiter seemed to not care while waiting for manager I went back to the restroom and continued to vomit until I couldn't anymore. The back of my throat still hurts 6 hours later. Absolutely disqusting but hey atleast there restroom was half way decent clean . After I came out horrified and sick the manager wants to tell me he didn't see a rich on the plate even though I clearly pointed it out and it was moving!!!!!!!!!! It's funny how life teaches you perspective and provides the arc through which you grow from your experiences. Like when Revenge of the Ninja was such a good movie that I watched 8 times in one week, only to realize as an adult what a piece of crap it truly was. Or maybe something most Americans can remember is how incredibly dope a birthday or happy meal at McD's was when you were 5, but now can't stomach the place. These are the thoughts that began to scroll through my mind as I paid my tab at Arandas just two days ago. Arandas was one of the first places I found the kindred spirit for my drunken soul and empty wallet in college. Tortas, tacos, and burritos were all to be had until ungodly late hours for the couple of bottle caps and pieces of broken sea shell I was able to gather together for payment. How had I missed this? Was this America's greatest secret and testament to our greatness? Should I share the knowledge to untold happiness with the masses? Or should I cherish the secret, protecting it in the highest Templar fashion, so that only us few lucky ones could maintain the greatness of cheap, late night eats? It was burden usually forgotten by morning, and my ignorance was bliss. Fast forward many years and late night taquerias later and I realized that we had grown apart. Arandas now has locations dotting every point of the Houston compass, a shiny new menu, and I've not stepped in one for years. Lately I'd been keen on tacos, and happened to be passing this outpost of Arandas, so I thought like the famous phrase from a certain chili brand: "it's been too long." I ordered 5 taquitos and got a smattering of taco hits: pastor, barbacoa, beef & chicken fajita. The tacos came with a side of charro beans to boot, and the expected chips and salsa while I waited. I'll keep this brief. If this is what Arandas used to be, I'm disappointed in myself, but if this is what Arandas has grown into, they are the ones that should be disappointed. Everything pretty much sucked. The beans were more broth than beans and carried a faint metallic taste. The tacos were universally dry, flavorless, and uninspired. Part of my desire to eat here had been because I'd been craving tacos lately and wanted something more authentic to sate my taco lust than very recent visits to 100% Taquito and Tacos a Go Go. Both of these places are passable, but not in the upper echelon of my taco hierarchy. My thought was to go back to my roots, hit a tough part of town, and get down with some tacos authenticos. Mistake. The service was excellent, the location was decent, and the price was right. However much as the bloom has come off the McDonald's rose so many years ago, and much as I resigned myself to the fact that Sho Kosugi is not Lawrence Olivier, so to must I move on knowing Arandas is not what it used to be...and worst yet, maybe it never was. read more

Ick. Just.....ick. Tacos were cheap and I was jonesing for some so I swung in here this morning and ordered 2 flour chorizo con huevos and cheese and 2 flour tocino con huevos and cheese tacos. Came to under $6. Cheap breakfast right? Got them home and opened them up and.....ewwww. There was melted cheese that stuck all the tacos together. The bacon ones ended up being corn tortillas, not flour. The chorizo was absolutely flavorless. By the time I extracted the tacos from each other, I was just pissed off - if I have to mess with my food, then I lose all interest. A couple bites of each confirmed what I suspected - no flavor, a step up (barely) from Taco Bell. I had always wondered about this chain....now I know, and won't stop there again. read more

I have to say that I was very displeased with this place. I came in for lunch today 06/15/12 @ 1:30 pm. I ordered the # 11 which is a fajita plate w/ rice, beans, and tortillas. I made my food order to go and when I opened is was more vegetables than fajitas and I asked specifically for flour tortillas and I got corn tortillas!! This place has really gone downhill for me which is sad because it really used to be a great place for a meal and watching soccer. It looked so appetizing on the menu but when I looked at it it was lacking taste and portion size. I would get more value from taco cabana and that is sad. I plan on calling mgmt about my visit and write another review about it when I return. I hope my next visit there is not my last. read more

I was one at the one located on gessner and ordered the clasicos ( carne asada, sopes, and charro beans plate). I was very pleased so I wanted to try it again but this time I was near the Gulton one. First of all, no one greets you. From afar, someone will tell you to sit anywhere. There were straw wrappings and crumbs all over the floor. First time I went, the meat looked like scraps and the charro beans looked like food from the day before. Second time, meat was fine but they uses enchilada sauce on my sopes. I ate it because I was starving :( Third and final time of giving this place , and the dish a shot; he meat was so freaking dry and the beans looked like heated canned beans with tiny bits of bacon. I was there last night 6/18 w/ me and 3 other ladies. Now I was a waitress 5 yrs of my life and this was by far THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER SEEN/HAD. First the Waitress was taking too long and kept messing up the orders, meal took over 30 minutes and they still managed to mess it up. Then when we refused the eat it due to wrong order they forced us to pay for it. I was so upset by this, not so much for service, but because of the managers attitude before we could say something she raised her voice loud enough to let us know no matter what we say were going to pay and thats it, and she walked off. This location is horrible. Tacos aren't as good. I've been to other locations where the chicken fajita is much better. The green sauce tastes like it was going bad.
