Torchy's Tacos is a Texas staple known for consistently delivering sizable, delicious tacos. We greatly enjoyed the March special scallywag taco which paired a generous serving of fried coconut shrimp and bacon with peach habanero jam. The breakfast tacos are also tasteful and a great value. This location features a bar, ample seating, self-service kiosks, and quick service. We'll definitely be back to try another assortment of tacos!

I almost never leave reviews, and I haven't written one in years, but this was honestly ridiculous. I ordered the 5-count churros, and the amount of dulce de leche that came with them was laughably small. The cup was not even filled, and was basically just coated on the sides. For the amount of churros included, you need at least two of these cups to have enough. I understand this is such a first world complaint, and I feel silly for even leaving a review on it, but things like this keep happening to my orders at restaurants where doing the bare minimum is ignored. I am not high maintance whatsoever, and will usually overlook many things but these tiny instances add up over time and begin to frustrate you. With how expensive everything has gotten, customers should not feel shorted over something as basic as dipping sauce. Please do better and meet basic expectations like filling up a small sauce cup correctly.

I lived in Austin for 15 years and now live in LA, but every time I'm back, Torchy's is a must. Their queso is hands-down one of the best in Austin -- I can't get enough of it! And the Brushfire taco is my go-to; it's just so good. Unfortunately, it was served cold on this trip, which was a bit disappointing (one star taken off) but honestly, I still can't visit Austin without stopping by Torchy's. It's a classic for a reason!

    Threesome: Queso, Guac and Salsa

So glad we stopped by on our last day in Austin - Torchy's tacos are huge and tasty! We loved the American (taco of the month!), the Republican, and the Democrat! The tacos are amazing but service, especially from Mara and Casey were definitely DAMN GOOD!! Please expand and come to Los Angeles!!!! The Threesome (Queso, Guac and Salaa) with chips were an added BONUS! Thank you Casey and Mara for a wonderful first experience!

Well appointed with a full bar, large outdoor seating area. It's always clean and has a great, friendly staff...not to mention great portions (of super tasty tacos). All that makes this a fave place to stop and grab a bite when I'm in Mueller!

Torchy's a pretty reliable texas staple What I ate: - Chorizo, egg and cheese brekkie taco: Pretty tasty taco. I got this on flour, so it was like a 6 bite taco instead of a 3 bite taco. - The democrat: Beef barbacoa. Again, very tasty, but nothing to write home about - Green chili queso: Cheese goodness, perfect app to share with the table - Bloody mary was nice and zesty, perfect way to pair with my tacos Pros: - Huge overwhelming taco list, tacos in each of the various proteins you would want. They even had vegetarian and vegan options. - Flour tortillas were really very good. I was pleasantly surprised considering this is a chain - Full bar - Pretty good fast casual spot - Clean bathrooms Cons: - This is a chain. Don't expect some super authentic tacos on the list. Be prepared to see some wild unorthodox tacos and flavors like bbq sauce. Would I come again? Sure

I generally have a really good experience visiting Torchy's 51st. My favorite meal is the fried avocado taco with a side of green chile queso. Around $13 overall. Ive tried the rice...and the street corn. Wish I had not. It's...not for me. The ONLY thing I wish they would do is load the "to-go" tacos like the do the "dine-in"

Overall, great spot for various tacos and chill dining area indoor or outdoor. It was good and fast service with plenty of spots to sit and lounge around.

This is an order at the counter and then they bring you your food place. The tacos were phenomenal! I got the fried avacado and Republican, both of which I recommend. They did come out cold, but the flavors were there. The sangria swirl was delicious.

Easy self ordering, we waited maybe 15 mins for our food. Although it was pretty crowded we didn't have problems finding a table. The taco were super tasty! Restaurant was lively and fun.

And don't come expecting cheese or sour cream -- the only add‑ons here are cilantro, onions, salsa, and guacamole. It's a stripped‑down menu, and they stick to it. The tacos are solid. The beef isn't anything remarkable, but the chicken is tender, moist, and genuinely flavorful. The quesadilla is the sleeper hit; the baked cheese gives it a deep, savory punch that outshines the tacos. Sixth Street's neon and noise are basically next door, the Capitol sits up the hill, and the whole area is packed with people, bars, and that classic Austin mix of polished downtown hustle and late-night chaos. Velvet Taco is pure counter-service: you walk right up, order at the register, and then grab a seat. There's plenty of seating, so even with a couple of kids in tow it was no problem finding a spot. The place leans hard into what can only be called white-people tacos--soft, sad flour tortillas that taste like they came straight out of a grocery-store package, loaded with every wild creation the kitchen can invent. Global mashups, brunch hybrids, burger impostors, the works. No one is pretending these are the real deal. I went for the chicken-and-waffles taco, which was actually built on a thin, real waffle instead of a tortilla. Surprisingly good--crispy, a little sweet, chicken holding its own. The burger taco tasted exactly like a cheeseburger that had wandered into a tortilla and decided to stay. We also tried the shrimp taco (fine), one daughter got the kids' chicken taco (perfectly kid-level), and the other ordered the chicken tikka (spicy, saucy, and very much in the "why is this on a tortilla?" category). Everything was okay. Comparable to Torchy's in that same creative-American-taco lane. If you're looking for a true Mexican taco, stay far away. But if you just want to play around with some decent flavors on a cheap flour store-bought tortilla while sitting in the middle of downtown Austin, this is your spot. Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. Won't be back.

Well, that other spot was CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS! Seeing my situation, I saw it as opportunity to try the options at Veracruz --- including the famous from Food Network, migas taco. I ordered 4 tacos: the migas, migas poblano, shrimp macha (!!), and the Dona Reyna tacos. All of these specific tacos were priced between $6 and $6.75 per taco, not bad in Austin, and not bad considering the quality of said tacos. As you can see from my order, I opted on the more "novel" choices and they did not disappoint; that said, I do HIGHLY recommend the two variations of the migas taco and the shrimp macha taco. Oh, the shrimp macha was so FIRE, the flavors were bold and smoky with a kiss of heat. The migas tacos were FULLY LOADED, and the scramble with the tortilla chips were flavorul.
