Fab tacos, something for everyone!! Possibly my favourite Torchys branch in Austin with the cute patio outside! The place is clean and has tall ceilings with a really nice open vibe. Service was quick and kind too. They now have mocktails and "bowls" so their menu is more than just tacos, which is nice! Ps - the little demon/devil mascot is quite the turn off can't be putting off to people who don't find that cute? ‍ read more

I always enjoy my time at Torchy's Tacos. I recently went and tried the Brushfire and Hogfather tacos. They were absolutely delicious and hearty. Their queso is always top notch. The atmosphere is great. The inside is huge and they have a bar area along with an outdoor patio. There's tons on TVs if you are a sports fan. The service is great and the food gets served quickly. The prices are reasonable. There's honestly not much else I could ask for. I'm ready to come back and try different options on the menu. read more

Love this place - food is great - Poblano Ranch goes great on anything, especially the chicken tacos and Casey, the manager, always checks to ensure everything is perfect and couldn't ask for better leadership of the place - love that is nearby and an easy go to spot for great food!! read more

I lived in Austin for 15 years and now live in LA, but every time I'm back, Torchy's is a must. Their queso is hands-down one of the best in Austin -- I can't get enough of it! And the Brushfire taco is my go-to; it's just so good. Unfortunately, it was served cold on this trip, which was a bit disappointing (one star taken off) but honestly, I still can't visit Austin without stopping by Torchy's. It's a classic for a reason! read more

Torchys is an Austin staple and gives if TexMex and Cali had a love child. I think there are lots of flavorful options and unique taco pairings but for $5-$7 dollars per taco can be on the pricier side in a city where Mexican fare is pretty common. For out of towners, this offers some different options to try. read more

Torchy's Tacos is a Texas staple known for consistently delivering sizable, delicious tacos. We greatly enjoyed the March special scallywag taco which paired a generous serving of fried coconut shrimp and bacon with peach habanero jam. The breakfast tacos are also tasteful and a great value. This location features a bar, ample seating, self-service kiosks, and quick service. We'll definitely be back to try another assortment of tacos! read more

Torchy's Tacos - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

I almost never leave reviews, and I haven't written one in years, but this was honestly ridiculous. I ordered the 5-count churros, and the amount of dulce de leche that came with them was laughably small. The cup was not even filled, and was basically just coated on the sides. For the amount of churros included, you need at least two of these cups to have enough. I understand this is such a first world complaint, and I feel silly for even leaving a review on it, but things like this keep happening to my orders at restaurants where doing the bare minimum is ignored. I am not high maintance whatsoever, and will usually overlook many things but these tiny instances add up over time and begin to frustrate you. With how expensive everything has gotten, customers should not feel shorted over something as basic as dipping sauce. Please do better and meet basic expectations like filling up a small sauce cup correctly. read more

So glad we stopped by on our last day in Austin - Torchy's tacos are huge and tasty! We loved the American (taco of the month!), the Republican, and the Democrat! The tacos are amazing but service, especially from Mara and Casey were definitely DAMN GOOD!! Please expand and come to Los Angeles!!!! The Threesome (Queso, Guac and Salaa) with chips were an added BONUS! Thank you Casey and Mara for a wonderful first experience! read more

Good tacos and a good deal with the two step. Only wish they brushfire was one of the tacos available for the special.

Torchy's a pretty reliable texas staple What I ate: - Chorizo, egg and cheese brekkie taco: Pretty tasty taco. I got this on flour, so it was like a 6 bite taco instead of a 3 bite taco. - The democrat: Beef barbacoa. Again, very tasty, but nothing to write home about - Green chili queso: Cheese goodness, perfect app to share with the table - Bloody mary was nice and zesty, perfect way to pair with my tacos Pros: - Huge overwhelming taco list, tacos in each of the various proteins you would want. They even had vegetarian and vegan options. - Flour tortillas were really very good. I was pleasantly surprised considering this is a chain - Full bar - Pretty good fast casual spot - Clean bathrooms Cons: - This is a chain. Don't expect some super authentic tacos on the list. Be prepared to see some wild unorthodox tacos and flavors like bbq sauce. Would I come again? Sure read more

Always a welcoming environment at Torchys...friendly service, clean tables and some killer tacos! One breakfast Burrito with brisket instead of chorizo for myself...BEC for the GD and a CEC for the wife...And They Both forgot about the camera eating first as they were 3 bites in by the time my burrito was unveiled...Anyway...burrito was large to say the least and loaded with goodness...I'm assuming theirs were great as well as they finished before me. read more

The worst pickup order I've ever had. Everything tasted off. The Mr. Orange taco was drenched in pico de gallo, as if no one bothered to strain it before adding it to the taco. I opened it within two minutes of pickup, so it hadn't been sitting there or anything like that. It tasted awful and made me almost gag. The fried avocado was bland. Barely any batter was left on the avocado, and I had to double-check to make sure I wasn't given the fresh avocado taco instead. But no, it was the right order--just terribly done this time. The worst part? The queso that I used to be able to recognize anywhere. It tasted like cashew queso (not real cheese) instead of the queso I should have been tasting. The texture was also very off, so how it was prepared really seemed questionable. All went straight to trash as I couldn't recognize what I was eating anymore. What happened, Torchy's?! Have you become overrated, or do the kitchen staff you hired not care? read more

Food was cold & soggy, asked them to make it again (which we have NEVER done anywhere before), food was somehow even colder and soggier. Before the mulligan attempt came out, we had to flag down multiple people, and explain it multiple times. Apparently no one talks to each other? That was a crazy experience. I've been in denial about the quality of this chain for a good while but it looks like we're finally writing off Torchy's for good. read more

I generally have a really good experience visiting Torchy's 51st. My favorite meal is the fried avocado taco with a side of green chile queso. Around $13 overall. Ive tried the rice...and the street corn. Wish I had not. It's...not for me. The ONLY thing I wish they would do is load the "to-go" tacos like the do the "dine-in" read more

I went to Torchy's Tacos for some takeout. I got a green chile pork taco and a republican taco. I also got chips and guacamole Service was fine. The chips were good. The guacamole was chunky and fresh. I really liked the republican taco. The bbq sauce, brisket, corn, cilantro, and chipotle sauce meshed well. The green salsa on the side was also delicious. The green chile taco was a bit too salty but I still enjoyed it. Overall, I had a good experience here and I would visit again. read more

The Mueller location: While the ingredients are good, and it's fun to sit on the patio, the tortillas that hold the ingredients always come out cold or room temperature at best. I have been 5 times, and asked them to reheat the tortilla 3 of those times, so back to the kitchen my tacos went. The third and fourth time when I ordered I asked that the tortillas be hot, and I got a dismissive response that basically said, our tortillas are always hot. They came out cold. The fifth time, I stuck with queso and a margarita. I love the ingredients but not the kitchen or unkind remarks from cashiers. So what could be improved? Attitude and kitchen taco assembler. I emailed headquarters after the 3rd visit with same issue and got no response. read more

My boyfriend and I didn't feel like cooking lunch, so we decided to check out Torchy's. This is an Austin staple, but we've never made time to check out any of the locations for some reason. We were pleasantly surprised! First, Torchy's has an extensive menu with many tasty options. Breakfast tacos, 'heavier' lunch tacos, etc. and tons of classics like chips and salsa or chips and guacamole. Second, there's plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors. There were only two of us, but there were plenty of groups, too. This place is good for a quick, very casual bite to eat. It's certainly nothing out of this world, but it does the job! read more

Great food and always friendly service. I love stopping in for lunch whenever I'm in town!

I guess I'm not coming here anymore. You put in these computers so we have to do our own orders and then you'll ask for a 25% tip. If I wanted fast food I would go to Taco Bell. To let me stand there and not even interact with me???? F this!!! I can go buy my own taco ingredients and make my own breakfast for a fraction of the price. Removing the human that takes my order just lost you a loyal long time customer. read more

Alas, Torchy's, you have not improved since you sold your corporate soul to private equity. As was the case last time we Yelped, we've actually been here a couple times since our last 2018 review, but felt compelled to write an update after trying it again this past weekend. It's so sad what's happened here! The place even just *looks* like she's been through the wringer. We will say that our two favorite aspects of Torchy's--the margs and the queso--are still extraordinarily good. However, we did not love seeing our drinks just sitting at the bar for several minutes until one of us decided to just go and grab them herself. The taco situation can only be compared to the fall of Rome. Like, What the actual F is happening? We ordered two tacos: the trailer park (make it trashy) and the fried avocado and both looked depressingly unappetizing when they arrived at the table. First of all, the trailer park has definitely been reduced in size: it was one lonely strip with some unmelted grated cheese on top and a bit of queso and that was actually it. It used to be good, but not anymore! And the fried avocado looked as depressing and was legitimately bland. No flavor! Our daughter's steak taco was another grated cheese-tossed on situation, and didn't they used to double up tortillas so the whole thing wouldn't crumble? Don't they care about how far they have fallen from the pantheon of Austin tacos?? Oh. The side of street corn is still good. We're vacillated between giving this place three stars again or two because it really is more 2.5 stars right now. But what they do well is still really awesome, so we're rounding up for no other reason than pure nostalgia. Maybe it'll improve one day, maybe not. read more

great service, we asked for more chips and they blessed us with a massive trey full of them! Great tacos too, 5 stars.

This is our regular Torchy's and tbh I've never had a bad experience at this location! Always generous with taco fillings. I usually get a trashy trailer park and a brisket taco with poblano ranch (that sauce is addicting I would drink it if they gave me more!). I always forget to do my rewards when I'm there and they don't do the best at reminding me lol but I think that's more of an error from corporate. They should consider switching to asking for loyalty phone number upon payment. I selfishly want more rewards. Tried something new today and got the airstream salad with chicken. I was so so impressed! It was huge and they were so generous with toppings and protein! The dressing (champagne vinaigrette I believe) seemed like a strange choice but ended up pairing very nicely with everything. It was beautiful too! This will def be my new go-to order. read more

This is gas station grade food. Eggs were runny, the ingredients weren't mixed together. Just a giant glob of half melted, slimy cheese in the middle. Better tortillas at basically any other restaurant in town. I don't know how this place gets return customers. I hadn't tried it in a while and hoped they had improved. Save your money and hit the gas station across the street for similar quality at lower prices Is this food? Yes. Is it edible? Barely read more

Visited this Torchy's location which is across from the Mueller HEB. One thing I appreciate about this location is that there seems to always be parking, and there is plenty of space to eat inside. There is also a nice outdoor patio area, which I am sure will be a great place to visit when the weather gets cooler! My typical go to meal at Torchy's is the Trailer Park and the Wrangler. I like that at this location, they typically don't skimp on the contents inside. The hillbilly queso is also solid, although I will say getting chips from this location is either a hit or miss. Either the chips will be INSANELY salty or they will be stale. Today we got the latter option. If you plan to go, I personally love the haberno sauce to pair with my tacos. It has a nice kick and the flavors balance out really well. Overall...4/5 stars! read more

After coming to Torchys Tacos the first time I visited Austin I loved it so much I knew I had to come back to Torchys Tacos the next time I came back. It only took 2+ years but it finally happened. This location is within a plaza and there is a large parking lot which is better than some other Torchys Tacos locations in the Austin area. When you walk in you go to the right for dine-in and if you're doing pickup you can go to the left. I ordered the trailer park trashy, baja shrimp, and midnight cowboy which was their taco of the month. For the trailer park taco, getting them "trashy" means replacing the lettuce with queso which I highly recommend you do. The shrimp in the baja shrimp was so lightly coated and crispy. The sauces for the trailer park and baja shrimp went really well with their respective tacos. For the midnight cowboy, I thought it was just okay; I think it was because after eating the fried chicken in the trailer park and the shrimp in the baja shrimp, the texture of the ground beef was not as enjoyable. The taco itself was spicy though which I liked and the unique thing is it's a crisp corn tortilla within a flour tortilla. I still liked the other two tacos more but this one was okay. They also have a bar area with TVs so you can spend some time there eating tacos and watching some sports. I said this the last time I went to Torchys Tacos and I'll say it again: I need one of these closer to me! read more

The chips and queso is my favorite here! Gets busy sometimes but staff is super nice and quick! The wrangler taco is my go to!

Torchy's has a full bar and sells alcohol now?! Was visiting a friend and we stopped at Torchy's for a bite to eat. It's been a few years since I've eaten at Torchy's so I was surprised when I saw drink specials on the menu at this location and walked around the checkout and saw a full bar. Drink wasn't a heavy pour, but was still tasty. And it was the perfect complement to gnoshing on chips and queso. Staff was friendly as always, and tacos on point. Only thing missing was the little brownies I used to get that had different flavors, but I barely missed them after a couple drinks. read more

Torchy's has to be one of my most favorite taco place in Austin, the combination of flavors is just mind-blowing. Leaves me happy dancing all the time, literally. If you want a loaded taco check out Torchy's! I can eat a lot of tacos but maybe 2 are enough as they load up the fillings ! I will say that some of the tacos we got were on the salty side so be warned! I got the trailer park (good), democrat (very salty), tipsy chick (very salty) and the beef fajita (ok). The price isn't bad either... I just thought the food was overly seasoned imo. They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The selection of tacos are excellent as well as there is something for everyone. For those that like spice they have a sauce but personally didn't think it was that spicy . read more

DON'T call something grilled if it isn't quality or qualifying to be grilled it wasn't pleasant to look at at all .Calling something grilled that isn't is just wrong .The shrimp was so little and it looked frozen and cheap like a big bag you buy in the frozen section.
