Another fab Torchy's location. Since I was alone, I ordered a Trailer Park (Trashy, of course) and a 1/2 order of chips & guacamole. But, who am I kidding. I could eat the full order all by myself, it's that good. The dining room itself was clean and everyone was friendly. My chips & guac arrived almost before I could fill my drink and have a seat. The taco took a little longer, but it was piping hot, so I assume they had to fry fresh chicken (which is fine by me). It's not too far off of 75, so I'll definitely visit this one again. read more

This is definitely mine and my family's favorite quick taco shop in Texas. The service is always super quick and there are many locations which is very convenient. Each month they have a "taco of the month" and they are always crafty and unique! (The whole atmosphere of this restaurant is unique and so original) This month is the Washingtonian. My go to is the chicken burrito. It's very tasty but I've had several other items as well. My daddy loves the Democrat (it's barbacoa) and the trailer park (trashy.) my favorite taco is probably the chicken fajita. We had never been to this location. We went on a weekday around 1:30 and every table was full.. we had to sit outside. We weren't thrilled but they had outdoor heaters!!! So far so good. I like the feel of this place and I think they have proven they are not just a trendy fly by night taco spot. This place has a "hole in the wall" feel with a decent menu to convince most palates to return. I'm not losing sleep over this place, yet every time I eat here I wonder why I've waited so long to eat here again. I'm a creature of habit so I always order the green chili tacos... Total came to be less than $12. And guac is a bit on the spicier side, be warned. Service: Slow. Very slow... Chips & guac came out pretty fast, but the rest of the order... man, were they slow. They have a different twist to their tacos. If you like your tacos spicy, this place is for you. We ordered the Queso chips, Trashy Trailer Park taco and Chicken Fajita taco. I would hold the spicy sauce next time since they over did it which ruin the true taste of the food. Long wait, slow service and mediocre food will probably keep me from coming back any time soon. We sat outside the enclosed patio and there was this large family with their kids running around and screaming on top of their lungs throughout our meal. The parents and the staff did nothing and allowed this nuisance go on throughout our meal. Wasn't good today, unfortunately. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants. I did curbside pickup Labor Day and I was shocked at the quality. It's usually great. Today, the chips were stale. So were the corn tortillas. They were so stale I couldn't eat most of my meal. The flour one we had was okay. We also always ask for no cilantro in the queso and still get it unfortunately. I go to school out of state. When people ask me what I miss most about Texas, I tell them Torchy's queso. It simply is the best queso in the world, and you can't change my mind. It's got a kick to it and the addition of the avocado center is to die for. The tacos are also wonderful. My favorite is the fried avocado, which if that sounds weird to you, let me tell you the combo is amazing. The democrat and trailer park are honorable mentions. The inside is also very nice and this is a great hang out spot for mid sized groups. If you go for dinner on a weekend or lunch on a weekday, expect long waits. EXCEPT the the fact that regardless of day, time of day or any other factor, it is always the longest and slowest line of any Torchy's location by a long shot. There is usually only one host at the register, and the poor souls are having to process lines that stretch into the seating area. Again, GREAT service, GREAT food. A popular chain in this part of Texas, Torchy's Taco is in my opinion just the bare standard for an upscale Taco joint, especially considering their price level and portion for a 'filling' meal. The service is nice, with kind staff and an upbeat mood, the mood being definitely enjoyable and with both elements of a night out with the lads or for one with that special someone; I noticed notable concentrations of both groups on one of my visits. The environment is one of enjoyment and of the people, and can't really be faulted there. The only real issue, and a characteristic one for me, was their tacos. Both tacos I ordered, the Mr.Orange and the Baja Shrimp as I recall, were messy to eat and we're falling apart before I even had a chance to pick them up. The flavor was present but uneven, and really needed the help of accompanying sauces to bring it together and round them out as a whole. For somewhere that has tacos in their name, the flavor profile and presentation just wasn't there for the price that they're charging. It was closer to that of a $2.50 taco off a food stand in the city. To put it all together, properly this time, this restaurant offers a good mood and something out of the ordinary, but the tacos are simply lacking. Come for a good time, if not good eats! read more

My sister suggested this for lunch and I was really impressed. We got two orders of the queso and one order of The guacamole for a group of seven and had plenty of leftovers. I ordered the Democrat and the Crossroads without jalapeño. Both were very good and I'd order them again but the Crossroads was a bit greasy. I actually liked that one more. This is a pretty solid chain taco joint. It would get 4 stars but I did not get one of my orders. Always get the queso, it's amazing. The tacos are large compared to the street tacos you'd get in the gas station. I do prefer the gas station tacos since they are simple and less expensive. The democrat and trailer park trash are my favorites. Skip the street corn it's nothing to call home about. It had a weird sauce in it. They did forget my order of street corn which after finishing my meal I waited patiently for 15 minutes after finishing all my food. I still had to go up there and they totally forgot about us and had to make it. I'm not expecting high class service in a taco place... I just expect my food to come out and not be forgotten. My beef fajita tacos were pretty good!!! I love their poblano ranch. But the 10 dollar margarita with no alcohol was honestly... kinda nasty.. soooo much lime and sweet and sour. I had to force myself to suck it down because well... it was 10 dollars. Man, this freaking place. Lost our order twice now. Hasn't ever been anywhere close to on time when they actually made our food. Good tacos but just not worth it with how unorganized this location is. There's a new one on Preston road. Maybe they know what they're doing. We've lived near 2 others which were both great. Great tacos, but too busy at night to get orders correct. I'm not a Torchy's noob. My SO and I come here often but I've come to a conclusion. You just can't come here for dinner...or on the weekends. This is a small location compared to Plano's (not sure about other locations) and they can't handle the demand. It's pretty annoying to get online orders done wrong. I can understand if a cashier didn't hear you right but online is pretty much to the point. All my SO's tacos were missing sauce and I can't have dairy so I ordered mine with *No Cheese*. So I got cheese of course which is tough to scrape off when it's melted on. I'm hoping they plan to open another location. I think that will help things a lot. read more

Came here with my husband and brother-in-laws the Wednesday after Christmas. My husband and I have never been there before. My brother-in-laws recommended the Democrat (with beef Barbacoa). That was really the best taco we had there. Lots of meat! I also got Baja shrimp, the shrimps were fried perfectly. The Crossroad with beef brisket wasn't bad but after have Rudy's for so many meals in the past few days just can't compare. My husband really liked the Wrangler off the breakfast menu. It was a pretty big taco. The breakfast tacos are about $1 cheaper but the same size as all other tacos. We got take out which was a mistake. The oil from the Democrat tacos soaked through the paper bags. Save yourself the mess. Loved the diablo sauce. They are no joke, really spicy. Definitely coming back the next time I'm back in Texas. read more

First of all, I love Torchy's Tacos. The 1-star is for the Allen location exclusively. They earned it on the merits if two factors. 1. Cleanliness 2. Kitchen Skills The past several times I've been here, the restaurant was full but needed bussing. There was one older hispanic lady always working, trying to bus and wipe tables getting crushed by the rush. She's fine. As she struggled, the young servers were standing at the pick up counter chatting and waiting for their orders. Horrible. That is a management issue. Time to lean = Time to clean. Then, food quality. First off, someone keeps putting tortilla chips in cold oil. How can you tell? The chips come out rubbery and shiny. If the oil is not hot enough, it will soak into the food rather than be expelled by the evaporating water vapor. Next, the carne asada was rubbery and not cut properly. All pieces were stripped but still attached to each other by unbreakable sinewy gristle. The plastic knife I got from the counter had no chance. Two trips in a row I had to wrestle with my meat at this place. Again, other locations I have not experienced this. Unfortunately, this location is my closest. read more

Appears to be going downhill. I originally gave this place 5 stars a few years ago. We have been regulars at this Allen, TX location for years. But if today's experience is any indicator, that will likely be coming to an end The dining room was incredibly annoying to be in because the music in the kitchen (different music) was played so it was at the same volume as the music in the dining room. When we brought this to the attention of the manager, he said he would take care of it. Several minutes later his solution became apparent: turn up the music in the dining room REALLY loud.. then, understandably other people began complaining about that. After watching the manager interact with the cooks it became apparent that keeping the cooks happy was more important than giving the customers a good experience, and that the manager was kind of clueless, inexperienced, and seemed to be unable to get his cooks to do the right thing. In spite of the fact that we recommended they change to one source of music, no one working there seemed to consider that an option. We also saw the manager attempt to resolve issues with food and drinks for other customers and same general ineptitude was consistently on display. read more
