5 times they delivered my island damaged or defective. After their 7th visit to my home (2 times to inspect), and the 5th piece of quartz, I gave up on them and accepted a defect. Tops should have been checking the product thoroughly before delivery and installation but instead they blamed everyone else. We have more projects but will never use Tops again. Sent it in requested appointment and bid. Waited 7 days no response. Called and was told oh yes they got the email and it was marked read but no one did anything with the request. First I want to say I have no ties to Tops, in fact 1 month ago I'd never heard of them. My boss had new countertops installed just before Thanksgiving and he was very pleased. He told me the cost and I was very interested. From the beginning to the end of the process and everyone involved, it was a fast, smooth and easy interaction. The price was maybe the best part ot it. Turned out fantastic once finished and I'll be using them for both bathrooms soon. I have read some of the unfavorable reviews on here and wonder if some of those people are just hard to please. After seeing a neighbors soapstone counter she referred us to Amanda at Tops. Amanda was busy, but made more than enough time for us and answered all our questions. We found the soapstone slab at Crocodile Rocks and after selection, they also referred us to Tops. The template maker came out quickly and completed the projects plan in less than an hour. Then for installation, it took 7 men to install the slab on the kitchen island. The installation was quick and clean. They laid protective barriers on walls and floors and left the house cleaner than when they arrived. Every step of the process was efficient and very COVID safe. The best aspect was the scheduler (Samantha's) communications to us. She was very clear and concise on expectations and the reminder emails kept us well prepared every step of the way. We had the worst experience with damage to our granite in 3 places, one of our seams looks like a large grout line, uneven cut far from the wall on one side that needed tile to float out and a larger caulking line to cover, and the corners and edges on one area didn't match the rest of the kitchen. Please see the pictures attached. The customer service from a staff member and the owner was so disappointing then we tried to resolve multiple issues with the install of our granite. During demo our cabinets and hardwood floors weren't protected well leading to some damage, we had a lot of damage to the walls and metal corners, and a shattered pendant light. The biggest issue was finding 3 chips on our granite in different areas which the largest was found by the installers and fixed poorly without us being notified. I found it after they left from the silver scratches on our granite from their razor blade attempting to fix and the repair wasn't flush with the counters. They made 3 attempts to fix this large chip, the first one has the silver scratches, the second was cream/didn't match with bubble/holes, and the third matches better. The owner said granite chips like that on its own and that it was at no fault of their Company and asked me to provide video to back up my allegation that they chipped/damaged our granite during transportation/install. The owner said our seam which looks like a grout line is industry standard and that he would have our project put in his own home. The slab cut on the side of our bar area wasn't straight and was so far from the wall that our tile guy had to float out our tile and put a thicker bead at the bottom to cover it up. The corner and edges of two of our granite slabs are different, one is more of a rounded bullnose edge and corner and the rest of the kitchen is a straight edge and corner. I tried working with the owner and all I got was comments from him that we seemed too detail oriented, their company should have steered us in the direction of another countertop company since our expectations weren't what their company could provide, and that it was a good thing we canceled our tile backsplash job with them because that's not their "bread and butter" that we would be happier with another company (which we were) I understand that things happen and we are easy going people that also do not write bad reviews but there was a lot of things that added up and we want to make sure others are aware of our experience so this doesn't happen to them. We won't refer this business to anyone and won't give them any more of our business. It's so disappointing because we love the granite we picked from the warehouse up north, we payed extra for the slab layout, and love to support a local small business. read more

This was the most frustrating customer service I have ever had anywhere! I brought in a broken counter top to have a replacement made. The young lady helping me insisted that the staff would need to come to my home to measure even though the piece was right in front of her! She refused to take the broken counter top that needed duplicating in because she would need a manager to authorize it - and they were ALL in a meeting. Total incompetence! Although countertops themselves do look nice, I am rating them this way due to poor customer service. I accepted their quote despite it being $800 more than another quote, because I read their positive reviews. However, I requested a negative reveal on my sink (via phone call) and the templater told me that would be fine. They installed it with a positive reveal. On the template, nothing at all was noted about the reveal (either positive or negative) so I had no way to know that the templater hadn't noted it. Unfortunately I did not put this request in writing as I believed the phone conversation would suffice. I discussed the issue with them after the fact and they essentially accused me of lying by saying that I had never told them about it. I am absolutely certain I did. They offered no discount or anything else. For the prices they charge, I would recommend going with a more professional company with better customer service. read more

The installers that did my installation did a great job - we are very happy with the quartz countertops they put in. Everyone we dealt with from the person who sold us the countertops to the receptionists were helpful, professional and straight forward with pricing. They also had a very large selection to choose from. This was the opposite to what we got from Lowe's. Would definitely use them again. read more

GREAT COMPANY: Professional, precise templating, good advice, We just finished getting new granite counters in our kitchen and the installation was flawless. When the crew found problems with our existing cabinets, they made sure to correct them with shims and gluing. They did a few on-the-spot modifications--without complaint--when we saw some tiny design flaws (our fault). Their warehouse-showroom offers a *huge* range of stone, and the Kohler faucet we bought is also top-of-the-line and fits perfectly. We'll be having them back for our three bathrooms counters, soon :) read more

I would have given them 5 stars as the staff is friendly, organized, efficient and the prices for their remnants saved me about $1000. However when they installed a bathroom sink, it was damaged unknown to us but the installers did not notify us. When the plumbers discovered it, we had to have them come back to install a new sink to the tune of $250. We still saved money, but it would have been better customer service to either 1. Let us know about a damaged sink before installing it or 2. Picking up the tab for their obvious mistake. read more

I worked with Lori at Tops as our 1951 counter tops desperately needed some replacing. She was very friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job with a "ballpark estimate" so I could see if it was anything I could reasonably afford this year. She was also very helpful in letting me know the area suppliers that they use in case we couldn't find a sample we liked in the showroom. She was super responsive to emails and after my initial measurements I had a quote back same day. Templating/final measurements and install were both scheduled at the same time and the person helping me on that was very friendly. Everything was done in about a month from my initial deposit! The counters look great, the installers were very nice and professional, Travis in the office was a huge help during demo and I'm very pleased with the final outcome. I would definitely NOT recommend this company. Don't be fooled by the expensive looking showroom and owners! They are GREAT at roping you in and then once they get your down payment for work...you become out of site...out of mind! Every time we tried to contact them to discuss our remodel...they were unavailable, and most of all when we did get to finally talk to a PERSON they were EXTREMELY RUDE and it was impossible to get a "call back"! They have kinds of people working there ... and the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing...caused a lot of confusion and frustrations. To make it worse ... Once we did have the project completed it was very shabby workmanship! The bathroom vanitITIES was just put in without any caulking to finish seam to walls (4 vanities) the colors on one vanity looked stained and ugly...the new bar sink was also somehow stained...we wrote them numerous times to discuss our disappointment etc only to have NEVER once been called back by anyone...except to demand their $$ for a job we felt needed to be FIXED BEFORE PAYMENT! The kitchen granite turned out fine. However, for the workmanship, $$$, lack of communication, confusion by talking to at least 5 different people when I called...I would NEVER recommend this company! Incompetent and unethical. Valerie, one of the owners, said just about anything to make the sale, then apologized later for "miscommunications". I was extremely disappointed with their ethics, service and follow-through. After making the mistake of using Tops, I spoke with a few industry insiders who confirmed that this is a shady company. I do NOT recommend this company, but if you do use Tops: -make sure you get everything in writing -take pictures of your granite and your templating -red-line the contract until you are really comfortable with the terms and conditions. They will use their contract to their advantage. They are also very eager to make the sale so they might concede to your demands. -expect that you will be passed through 5 different people throughout your process. There is no single contact. This company is a complete fraud. Please stay clear, you will thank me. I have been a remodeling contractor for nearly 20 years. This company sent out 2 young kids who had no experience. It took them 8 hours to install 1 small slab with a sink. My normal crew would have been done in 1 hour. They sold me 2cm quartz which came with no self edge. It looks awful, as is measures only about 1/2" thick. They installed this with no plywood underneath. The range cut out was wrong, so they tried a field cut and screwed it worse. They also forgot to glue the countertops down, seriously it doesn't get worse. Well it does.... they then put a lien on the house and are trying to get $500 more than we agreed upon. My business on Yelp is a 5 star, this business doesn't deserve any. John the owner is a coward and there staff super inexperienced. BEWARE. I was taken care of by great customer service during the entire process and I placed orders with them twice. I really don't know how they are able to do as perfect a job as they do. We had them do our upstairs bathrooms this year. Once again everything turned out perfect! My mom had solid surface counter tops installed. While I will say they were professional and helpful in planning, choosing and scheduling, the installation was a disappointment. They did precise templating around rounded corners in a bay window and described a terrific way to incorporate the bay window piece to the bar counter, however installation did not include any of the great features. In fact squared off around the round corner left a whole in each side of the window piece. One edge was completely forgotten. Seams VERY noticeable. They came back and did the edge that was forgotten right away, but were not at all concerned about the look of the rest of it. Ended up filling the square edges around the window rounded corners with silicone filler. Said that was the best they could do and that is the way it is. We heard good things about them, but were disappointed. read more

AMAZING COMPANY with out of this world customer care! Tops made a mistake with our sinkhole, making a hole for a top mounted sink instead of an under mount sink like we had planned. When this was realized, there were all sorts of problems trying to get it fixed the way we wanted. I rated Tops with 5 stars despite this mistake, because they went above and beyond to make their mistake right.Their customer service and care is exceptional, with a great experience the first moment we walked into their showroom, and excellent service the moment they realized a mistake had been made. The owner himself came by our house to look the sinkhole over and talk about our options for fixing it. Let me specify--it was NOT an easy fix because the hole was now cut too big to under mount our sink. We talked new sink, added backsplash, possibly having to get a new slab of granite if this one broke when being fixed, and we were told that we would not be paying another penny for any of these additions or modifications. Once our game plan was decided, the owner even offered to pay for our meals the rest of the week while we waited for everything to be done. Tops cared that they made a mistake, they cared about our well being, and they made sure it was all made right. We could tell that mistakes like this never happened. I will definitely recommend Tops to anyone looking for amazing company and product quality, and we will definitely be having them return to do our bathroom countertops when that time comes! read more

Tops Solid Surface is one of the worst companies of any kind that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I had 2 bathrooms and a kitchen that needed new countertops, and I also had a backsplash installed in the kitchen. Mistakes were made at every stage of the job. The worker was unable to get the water in the sinks turned off, so he called someone to help. The man who came sharply criticized the worker who'd been having trouble - not very professional! The water was supposedly turned off at that point, but when I checked it was still dripping in one bathroom, so I put a waste basket under it. The next morning, that waste basket was overflowing, and the other bathroom sink was leaking onto the cabinet floor too. When the backsplash was done, a great deal of grout residue was left on the cabinets. The informational materials Tops gives to customers said there might be some dust after the job, but they didn't say that the ALREADY MIXED grout would be splattered all over the kitchen! I had hired someone to refurbish the cabinets after the work was done by Tops. When I dropped by to see how the job was going, they informed me that they had had to spend 4 unanticipated hours to clean off all of the grout residue that had not been there when they'd done their bid! When I asked John at Tops to come look at the job, he asked me for the address, which I gave him. He didn't show up. I wasn't really surprised, because he had failed to return several of my calls already. This is in addition to the unanswered e-mails I had already sent to Tops. When I called John, he was very apologetic and asked if we could meet the next day. Again, I waited for over a half hour before John figured out that he was at MY house, not at the address I had given him. I told him about the problems there had been with the job, the biggest of which was the fact that the job looked very diy, and was not very well done, at that. There were (still are) cracks and holes in the grout, not to mention that the grout lines are not equal. The window sill, which was made by Tops to match the counters, was not sealed on either side. The last I time I spoke to John, I asked again if he was planning to compensate the cabinet people for the extra work Tops caused them. "The plot thickens," he said, but has never agreed to make this right. I left a message again yesterday for him to call me, but no dice. Do yourself a favor: don't hire these people to do anything for you. Today, they were supposed to come back and try to fix the messy job they'd done. I waited 2 hours for them to come, and they never showed. When I got home, there was a message saying that they had come but I wasn't there!!!! I had sat there about 10 feet from the door, and nothing. When I called Tops, the woman who spoke to me was not at all helpful and wouldn't even admit that the workers might have gone to the wrong house! I give up! I will just make do with the CRAPPY job they did and cut my losses. read more

We've just completed our second very positive experience with TOPS. Several years ago they installed kitchen counter tops and some cabinets. This week they installed a bathroom counter top and sink. Both installations have been flawless. What surprised me about TOPS is that they are very price competitive yet they are a small specialized company that can provide service and selection far beyond their big box competitors. The big box stores outsource the installation to contractors you have no contact with. At TOPS you are working with the people who will manage your entire installation. This really helps to get the small details right, and it means you quickly get answers because you are talking to the people who will do the actual work. I don't have any association with TOPS or the folks who work there other than as a satisfied customer. They are just good people and a company you should definitely talk to. read more

I have had a very disappointing experience with this company. I ordered a $3k quartz countertop through Lowes, with Top Solid Surface as the installer. It took over 7 weeks from order to install (1 week was my fault due to a reschedule- still, 6 wks was double the time I was quoted). Getting the company to return phone calls was impossible. The only conversation I had with the co. was when they sent their employee out to do a template. I had a lengthy discussion with their employee about the one area where I absolutely, under no circumstances, wanted a seam. He assured me this was no problem, & showed me exactly where the seam would be & we agreed. Once the top was installed, it was completely opposite of what I ordered & paid over $3k for. The seam was exactly where I said it absolutely could not be- the top is almost 14' long, & the seam was exactly where I said I absolutely could not have it. I immediately called the co in tears, the person I spoke with said they would rectify it with a correct installation, or with a monetary incentive since I did not get what I ordered. Several days & phone calls later, the monetary incentive was an insulting $50 discount on my $3,000 messed up order. 8 1/2 weeks later, I have still not rec'd the $50 gift card, nor have I received a single phone call from Top Solid Surface to apologize for their enormous blunder. Not to mention they also scratched the paint off of two of my freshly painted cabinet doors, which had to be sanded & repainted (all documented with photos). And, of course- as I was told by lots of friends with quartz & granite- the seam is already discolored & very noticeable due to heavy every-day use. We still have several countertops to replace in our remodel, & absolutely will not be using this company.. I would not recommend them at all. read more
