Chicken and Beef Kabobs as our entrees. Their signature cocktail Istanbul Peach Martini and a glass of Autorotas Sauvignon Blanc. As always the Lavash was amazing as was the Kabobs. About a year later, I found myself craving authentic Mediterranean food again, so I started searching for restaurants around New Hampshire. That's when I came across Ayasofia. The next day, my husband and I decided to drive an hour to Salem to try it out, and it was completely worth it. After speaking with the owner, we learned that Mediterrano had actually been owned by a member of his family and that they use the same recipes. It all made perfect sense! The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, even encouraging us to return and meet his mother, who taught him these recipes. I highly recommend the hummus, baba ghanoush, salsa, and grape leaves--they're all fantastic. Be sure to order the lavash bread on the side, as it pairs perfectly with everything. Oh boy... where do I start? My wife and I went to Tino's for our anniversary and it was a disaster…read more I expected to spend upwards of $200 but I didn't expect the appetizer portions to be made for a toddler at a premium price. To start, we ordered the drinks fresh air feeling with melon and lemonade and the fizz and flower with hibiscus, lime and ginger ale ($15 each?). To eat we ordered the pan seared scallops ($21), the mushroom arancini ($14), the sticky pork belly ($15) and the heritage rib eye ($65) for the entree. The fizz and flower was delicious, but only after you mix it. They don't tell you that, so when we took our first sip it wasn't good at all. As for the fresh air feeling... its was barely a lemonade. It lacked the lemonade flavor you'd expect from one. Then we waited 40 minutes before the waitress asked us whether we had gotten any of our food after she had walked by our table multiple times. Five minutes later, we got our first appetizer (mezze) the sticky pork belly. The presentation was nice, but it was two small pieces of pork belly sitting on top of a tiny piece of corn bread with a sauce. When I took my first bite I tasted nothing but salt and the meat was dry. At this point I was super hungry so I forced it down and chased it with the "lemonade". Five minutes later we finally got the rest of our food. On one plate there were 3 pieces of arancini. I think they forgot the mushrooms and made them with white rice only because they had absolutely no flavor. They weren't even salted and all I could taste was the bland rice and frying oil. On the other plate were 4 pieces of scallops and a piece of bone with marrow in the middle with a brown mushroom demi sauce all over. This was overly salted and not what I expected from a scallop dish. Scallops are supposed to be light and flavorful, not heavy and salty. The last item was the ribeye... at this point I was excited to eat something with substance because the portions up to this point were small and this one was pretty large. I order my ribeyes medium rare, because thats the only acceptable way to eat a ribeye. What I got was a medium well steak with no flavor in the meat. All of the flavor was burnt onto the ribeye and the sauce that was poured over it tasted like it was burnt as well. Choking that steak down was depressing and I had to stop after eating a few pieces. This entire time the waitress did not stop by our table to ask us how the food was or if we needed anything else. When she stopped by to ask us if we wanted dessert we asked for our check and a to-go box. I will NEVER go back there nor will I ever recommend Tino's Kitchen to anyone. This was the worst experience I have had in a long time and wouldn't want anyone else to go through what we did. Like I said, I was ready to spend $200 that night, but that quickly turned into us wanting to leave as quickly as possible. Not sure how anyone else can rate this place 3 stars let alone 5 stars. The best part of the night was being able to spend time with my wife, just wish the food could have been enjoyable too.
