Hubby and I tried this place for brunch on Valentine's Day. First off we were seated right away, no wait. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. Every time I was running low on coffee someone would come refill it. I ordered the strip steak medium well. It was cooked just right although the flavor lacked just a bit more salt. This place has everything you want at its finest. Delicious food from any selection. And the cream of chicken soup is honestly the best soup I have ever tried. I would recommend this to everyone. Staff is very friendly and talkative with everyone and this restraunt is very clean and all of their food is so delicious I can't think of a better pancake house to eat at. Our waitress was great very tentative and considerate. But the owner manager needs a better attitude by far. There was a spoiled condiment on the table which I used. I informed our waitress her response was great. I didnt want new food or a discount which she offered. I just wanted them to know it was no good and needed to be tossed there wasn't much in the bottle, so it might have been a 50 cent lose to the owner lol.. but her response not only was it not quite but it was rude her attitude towards the waitress and in ear shot of the paying customer smh. Instead of tossing the bottle she went on to say no its not spoiled it doesnt spoil with the rudest attitude towards not only the waitress but an insult towards her customers. We came into town to hit the Notre Dame game and were staying near the airport to make it easier but needed some respite on a Sunday morning. We decided to catch breakfast at the Top View Diner, which was close by. The place was packed and had a 20 min wait so we headed to the back countertop that gives you a great view of the cooks and the servers as they dance around in a complicated ballet. Though we had to wait a bit to be served it was worth the wait. We both ordered omelets (one sausage and cheese - the sausage was very flavorful, and a bacon onion) they came hot and served up with homemade hashbrowns. If you want true crispiness we'd recommend ordering them well done. People were doing it all around us and when we got ours we understood why. Though they were good they would have been extra good had there been more crispy edges. I got pancakes for my side and I consider myself a pancake connoisseur, they were light fluffy with buttery edges - just the way heaven intended. The most entertaining part was watching the controlled chaos of the kitchen and serving area. They danced around each other, bearing heavy loads of plates, bowls and coffee pots, never a movement wasted. And when one of our meals went missing and we got the wrong omelet the server turned on the kitchen staff with a stern, "I need a sausage and cheese up right now." It reminded us of an emergency room, "I need a bandage stat!" The error was quickly remedied and the right food was in front of him before I had taken a few bites of my own. Overall I'd say this was a great little place with good food and a busy staff. We'll definitely make this a repeat location the next time we are in town for a game. read more

Out of all the amazing food we had in Chicago, this place was hands-down our best dining experience this weekend! We came from Nashville for a long weekend and ate at several Chicago staples, so for our last morning we were just looking for a quick, decent brunch before we hit the road. We saw that Top View had great reviews AND parking (wow...finally), so we stopped in. We got the booth we asked for and there was no wait at 11:30 on a Sunday. Coffee and water were on the table and served within a minute of us sitting down. I ordered strawberry crepes and corned beef hash and my husband ordered the gyro skillet. HOLY GOD. Our food was to us in less than ten minutes, the service was impeccable throughout the entire meal, the prices were VERY affordable and reasonable, and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. It tasted like a bunch of people's grandmamas were back in the kitchen cooking everything with that extra secret ingredient...love. I also highly recommend The Chai, which puts Starbucks to shame. Everything was top-notch, from the time we walked in the door to the time we paid. Even if you aren't staying around Midway, it's worth the trip out for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, as their menu is extremely extensive with enough choices to make your head spin. I have to compliment this place. It had some halloween decorations up to celebrate the month of October, the staff was friendly, the prices were competitive, the portions were enough, I left full, the quality was decent. I asked my waitress if she would change the channel on the television, the show on at the time was not good "dining" T.V. , she didnt hesitate at all and smiled , agreed with me and fulfilled my request. My water glass was always full, as was the coffee cup, waitress came around just often enough. Had the cream of chicken soup and the half chicken , with mashed potatoes, dressing and veggies. It was fabulous! Tender and juiciest chicken ever. The soup was also fabulous. The food is ok. The service sucks. I used to eat there 2-3 times per week. It was convenient for me to take my lunch break there. One Saturday morning my coworker and I were seated at a table. Right before they served our food we were asked to move to another table because another customer would have a fit if she didn't sit at that table. This is a table that we always sit at during the week. If the table had a RESERVED sign then I would happily sit elsewhere. I feel that was very rude. It made me feel like I was being discriminated.
