I requested a quote online, for a tree removal and received a response very quickly. David came out and gave me a free estimate the next day. The price he quoted was higher than one of the other companies that I talked to. However, David quickly said that he would match the price, which was excellent! I went with Top Unit Tree Service after reading some of the yelp reviews and David showed confidence that he and his crew can take down this large ash tree, with no problem. David, his brother George and the crew came the Monday after Thanksgiving to take down the ash tree. They were super friendly, and very professional. I also asked them to trim a ficus tree and they did it with no problems. This is a family business that truly knows what they are doing, when it comes to trees and they get the job done. I highly recommended Top Unit Tree Service! I will be calling them again, as I have a few trees that need to come down soon. read more

Highly recommended! If you are looking for tree trimming, Top Unit, a family run business, is as good as it gets! David, George and team are top notch. Reliable, reasonable, dependable. Answered phone on first ring, they were on site for a quote the next day and did the job on the very day I needed. Took out my 20+ yr old large Eucalyptus tree entangled in utility wires and hanging over my neighbors driveway. No problems. Punctual, professional, considerate, clean and friendly. I wish everyone did business like this, their father taught them well. Thanks Again David and George! John H. - Downey read more

George showed up for the estimate, his brother stay in top of things all the time, I would recommend Top Unit Tree Service to my friends. read more

I had a couple of guys come over to provide quotes from other businesses to trim the palm trees in our complex, and I had already decided to go with one of them. George from Top Unit was the third and last guy to come out, and I ended up giving the job to him, based on his character. He's a big Tongan guy, and he's charismatic. It's also a family-owned business that he runs with his brother David, who's also a great guy. There is one crew member who's just kind of present and doesn't do a whole lot, but I suspect this is a family member or friend that they take care of. So this is what I mean by character; they do take care of each other. And they'll take care of you too. Our condo complex had four queen palms and three king palms that hadn't been groomed in years. The queens looked bushy, and the driveway and lawn were littered with seeds. "Give me one chance," George said, "and you'll see. We won't just clean them up. We'll make them beautiful." They did. David maneuvered around in the bucket truck wielding a chainsaw like a pro, and a couple of workers cleaned up and disposed of the waste below. The palm trees are so much cleaner looking now, and the ground is free of their seeds. You feel better looking at them now, just like you feel better looking at yourself after a haircut. David explained the maintenance schedule (grooming once or twice a year), pointed out problem areas from the palms (and some bee hives he saw in our roofs), and proposed a solution down the road before leaving. After they left, the first thing I did was set a reminder to contact Top Unit again next year. Totally recommended without any reservation. read more

Fast response and reasonable cost. The Poe's have provided honest and professional services for several projects at my property. George and his crew are thee MOST professional, clean, quick, reliable and flexible service out there!!!!! They removed my huge rubber tree from my front yard in a couple of hours, and when I came home, not only was the tree removed, the hole in the ground was filled and packed with dirt and EVERY SINGLE LEAF had been raked, swept, and removed from the yard. Weeks later, they are back at my house removing 6' high weeds from my entire back yard from all of the California rain. Next I will hire George and his crew to pave a driveway over my side-yard. Thank you George and Top Unit Tree Service for being the BEST!!!!!!! read more

We had a mess in our backyard, overgrown palms too high for me to reach plus a lot of possible damage to our fence and pool. George had done some work for us before and was in the neighborhood. He came by offering to trim and clean up our yard. He gave us a fair price and the next day, right on schedule, he came with his crew and bucket truck and knocked it out in no time. My wife's happy and I'm happy. They saved me from an impossible task. The yard looks great! I won't hesitate to hire them again. read more

Great service, super friendly and affordable. No tricks or gimmicks.... George is a down to earth kinda guy so you can negotiate, I guarantee he can beat anyone's price who is licensed to do the job. You get what you pay for and he hasn't let me down. He won't disappoint. read more

Fast and efficient. Did a beautiful job at a very reasonable price . Ask for George. Will recommend to everyone .

I was looking for someone to remove three fruit trees from my backyard. George responded to my request within ten minutes. He came over the next day and provided me with a quote (beating out the competitors) that was to good to pass up. Needless to say, George and crew came out this morning, arriving earlier than expected and did an amazing job! I'm so impressed with their work, they're so professional and kind-hearted. I will be calling George back for landscaping in the next month or so. Oh and they left us with plenty of firewood. Again - I really appreciate the fantastic job. read more

We had a great experience with this company! They trimmed 3 trees, cut in half and trimmed 8 cypress trees and removed 3 plants! The three men had a smile on there faces and I heard laughter most of the time! Which believe me I never have had that before, while guys are busting their butts in the heat! We will be using them again when needed and even going to have them work at my moms place! My hats off to how with all this work, I had very little cleanup after they left! read more

I saw their truck yesterday at a stoplight and it was impressive, neat and well kept with all their services listed on the side and at the bottom it said Family Owned. I knew my husband had tried to contact our former tree guy but was unable to reach him. So I looked them up on Yelp and texted their page to my husband after reading the excellent reviews. They came out the same day and made a very reasonable estimate and by the time I was home today our scraggly little tree that was about to push our walkway up was gone. They did a beautiful job and completely cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend them! read more

I've been using Top Unit since 2002. I have a very large tree in my front yard that they have thinned, topped and continue to maintain. It continues to look great and I get compliments on it all the time. They bring everything and leave the yard spotless. They even cut many of the pieces into easy to burn mini-logs when they saw I have a small, outdoor fire pit. I also had them remove a large palm that was a beast! Now you can't tell it was ever there. Very affordable and totally reliable. If you see a tree in the Lakewood / Long Beach area that's been butchered (and you will), you'll know they DIDN"T call Top Unit. Don't make the same mistake! Ask for George who speaks English and Spanish equally well. read more

My back yard had become such a mess that I didn't even want to go back there. It was an eyesore. After Top Unit was done I am wandering around it and thinking of all the things I could do to make it really pretty. They totally transformed it. If you need trees taken out or a yard cleanup, call these guys. You can't do better. They are quick, efficient, and leave things looking really good. There is only one gotcha. They are not arborists. If you read Western Garden Book and want trees and bushes pruned with exacting precision, look elsewhere. My roses were trimmed with a hedge trimmer. It is still a great start and I can do the detail work much more easily, but this is a warning. There is a reason they get things done fast. read more

WOW! Called yesterday at 6pm and George came from Norwalk to my home in Garden Grove to give an estimate to remove 3 trees. He pointed out the things necessary to do the job and gave a reasonable estimate. He also advised me about a couple of my larger trees in the back yard. As I was limited financially at this point (and had seen 5 star reviews) I agreed. His crew came today, while I was at work, and did a great job! They even trimmed the hedges at the front and side of my house and even cleaned up the leaves from the big trees in the back yard! Have a huge tree in the back yard that is about 65 years old that will need to come done in the future. You can bet I will call George! read more
