I wound up at Top Pot Doughnuts four times during our weeklong stay in Seattle. Why? My wife absolutely loved their glazed doughnut with raspberry. Top Pot has large doughnuts that are reasonably priced for their size. They come in many different flavors ranging from typical flavors to slightly different. No matter what, the emphasis remains on the doughnut (they aren't a doughnut shop that piles crazy things on top). My kids were also fans. They mainly stick to chocolate iced and glazed. Top Pot has both of those. The ambiance of Top Pot is pretty chill. It is decorated with shelves of books, like a doughnut forward book store. They have seating downstairs, upstairs and outdoors. Why not five stars? My wife's mocha tasted more like hot chocolate. Also they don't have any vegan doughnuts. They did have one vegan baked good during my visits (muffin/bread) but never a doughnut. read more

We had a eggnog donut here that was super good, and I don't even like eggnog! This was the first stop in the "Underground Doughnut Tour" I booked for me and my friend. It was a lot of fun! They had a decent number of specialty drinks that I haven't seen at a lot of other places - I had a London Fog and my BFF got the chaga mushroom coffee. Both very good. Top Pot Doughnuts may be the top ranked (if not the best) doughnuts that I have ever had! I didn't have super high expectations, as most of the time doughnuts tend to disappoint... but I was over-the-moon beyond thrilled after trying these ones. They were so good that we went FOUR times during our 48 hours in Seattle. And we must have shared at least a dozen donuts over that time. They were SO good!!! It was SO difficult to choose our favorite doughnuts, but we decided it was a tie between the Classic Old Fashioned and the Maple Bar. The Classic Old Fashioned is the absolute pinnacle of this classic/standard doughnut. Every glazed doughnut I have for the rest of my life will be compared to this one, and unfortunately, I do not think it could get any better. It was a perfect 10 out of 10. The Maple Bar was also out of this world. To be honest, my husband and I are not even really fans of maple, but we went with the server's recommendation... and thank goodness we did. The Maple Bar was incredible!! We found ourselves fighting over who gets to take the next bite. Highly, highly, highly recommend coming here MULTIPLE times when in Seattle. The Vietnamese cold brew was the best thing I had this morning but it was no different from any cafe sua da I've had in any Vietnamese restaurant. Delicious, but nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered 3 donuts - lemon glazed, chocolate, and marionberry - and I tasted all three. The glaze on the lemon was nice but the donut itself tasted somewhat flat. Maybe it needed a little vanilla or a touch of salt but it wasn't anything special. The chocolate looked attractive but didn't taste all that chocolatey. The flavor was very mild and the primary impression was the sugar glaze. Frankly, Krispy Kreme does a much better chocolate cake donut and that's not even their specialty. I've never had marionberry before so my impression may be uninformed, but if I had my eyes closed it would have been hard to identify what I was eating. There wasn't much berry flavor but I did have a few seeds stuck in my teeth. My partner described the consistency of the fritter as "tough" which sounds odd but I'd have to agree. Once again, the sugar glaze overwhelmed any other flavor. The location is attractive and has a peaceful, calm atmosphere. This would be a nice place to linger over a cup of coffee. I can't really recommend the donuts, though. read more

Great doughnut place with multiple locations! Food: they have different varieties of doughnuts here And can order drinks as well! I love their old fashion doughnuts, you can also order some pastry items such Apple fritters. Although the pastries was not my favorite out of the items we got, i would definitely recommend the doughnuts thought! The interior is beautiful and plenty of space to eat and chat with friends. I love the books wall they have here and makes the place very unique. Service was great and staff was friendly. i used to live almost across the street from top pot's capitol hill location, so i have become very well-acquainted with their donuts over the years. out of personal preference, i love the yeasted ones the most, and recently i had a huge craving for my absolute favorite of them all: Bavarian cream aka a Boston cream. went by the other day to get that and a bag full of other treats to freeze for a rainy day, and it was the same as ever. top pot is everything i love about a good donut shop: reliable. you always know what you're going to get, and the donut you order today is the same as the one you ate 10 years ago, is the same you can expect next time. that's quality this spot also has big, beautiful windows that let in lots of light and a view of the monorail, especially when the trees are bare in the wintertime. it's a very wistful space, and the upstairs is cozy. it stays surprisingly quiet during the day. read more

Top Pot is a highly rated donut place in the Seattle area and this location was about a third of a mile from where we were staying. It's a huge building with an impressive display inside ranging from apple fritters, cake donuts, yeast raised donuts, long John's and biskmark's with different filling. The donuts are priced as I'd expect, though I've read some reviews about them being too pricey. They're big and substantial which is a plus so you feel like you're getting your money worth. The downside is that they're so big that they end up being dense and dry. The fritter was crispy on the outside but had no moisture inside. The bismark lacked more than just a dollop of filling in the middle and was dry. We tossed it after two bites. Bummer. It's worth checking out since it's a destination in Seattle but I won't be going back for a donut. read more

Walked down to this well reviewed donut shop just up the street from the Westin Seattle off of fifth Avenue. Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Staff was very friendly. I asked for their signature items, and I was recommended the old fashioned glazed or maple bars. I went with an old-fashioned glazed, and an old-fashioned chocolate. The donuts were outstanding... Good texture and density, soft on the inside and not dry - icing had good flavors and they weren't overly sweet.. The breading was exceptional period. Typically for old fashioned doughnuts you get a somewhat heartier/tough bite with some grityness, but these were anything but. You still get that slightly stronger bite from these doughnuts since they are still old fashioned style, but no grityness was there which is a feat in and of itself. Way too long lines for just average coffee (my colleagues and I were wondering about where is the grandiosity of Seattle coffee and that maybe we are used to bad coffee and don't find it good here). My wife and I came here twice during a recent vacation to Seattle, both times at this location even though there are others in the city. We definitely recommend it. I consider myself a bit of a donut aficionado as I like trying new donut places but I have high standards when it comes to donuts and don't always leave places satisfied so this is high praise from me. Easy to find on a main street headed towards the Space Needle, which is why we selected this spot, this location has a striking interior bookshelf when you walk in with tables inside, out front and some up a small flight of stairs which is where we sat both times. Donuts you get immediately and coffee you have to wait a minute at a typical coffee bar stand. Between the two of us we had multiple donuts and I would suggest going for their more adventurous flavors you would have a harder time finding at other shops. The original glazed and sugar topped donuts were just alright while the apple fritter and maple bar were highlights. I am not typically a fan of "old fashioned" but a friendly local in our line said they were great and it was my favorite one we tried. As far as drinks the Ovaltine Mocha was the best hot coffee I had on my trip to Seattle and I had it both times we went. It tastes like it's name suggests spot on. It's probably too sweet for black coffee lovers but I enjoyed it. My wife went with an iced coffee our first trip to enjoy on our walk to the Needle and a hot coffee our second time. She enjoyed both, I finished her iced coffee when she was done and enjoyed it but I needed some more sugar or flavor for my particular tastes. I would safely recommend this place to any coffee or donut fan. Take a chance with your drink and food and order things special to this restaurant like the Ovaltine Mocha or Cookies and Cream donut.
